dan4, you'd be surprised how cheap the GT4 and spares are TBH, like any car that was around basically between 1987 and 1999 and only 3 model variants.
But yes as a track car a std (cheap as chips) GT4 would not be ideal without certain upgrades such as brakes and perhaps some suspension tweaks. As a drift car they are a lot of fun and arguably more fun, in terms of what you can do with the car being 4wd, than a straight RWD car. This, IMHO, is largely because the GT4 has no electronic aids and so is a raw driving experience, and it also has a Torsen LSD in the back and a viscous coupling centre diff for true 4 wheel powersliding and easy oversteer.
Anyway lots of debate going on and quite a few options too for under that magic 1k :-)
