  1. Sorry I didn't manage to make this due to a mountain bike accident on Friday - grrrr .... Hope you all had a good day :-) Martin
  2. Hey Chris, Will be good to see you guys there ... Done a few things to the Yota so we will see how it goes ... Martin
  3. Booked :-) See some of you there ... Martin Black Celica GT4
  4. Ha that was me :-) Had to leave before the end though. An instructor wanted me to take him out in the GT4 but the pulley came off the steering pump so had to cut the belt off and nurse the car home with no power steering !! All fixed now and ready for next time The RX7 seemed to getting some usage too Martin
  5. Good to see you guys today :-) If you have any pics/vids of my Toyota, let me know Thanks Martin
  6. Looks good Have heard about wraps for a while but it's good to see one done and in white :-) Just been looking on Youtube as the process intrigues me as I thought they would be done in panel sections but some of the wraps are done in massive sheets - impressive techniques ... Here were a couple I found ... Martin
  7. dan4, you'd be surprised how cheap the GT4 and spares are TBH, like any car that was around basically between 1987 and 1999 and only 3 model variants. But yes as a track car a std (cheap as chips) GT4 would not be ideal without certain upgrades such as brakes and perhaps some suspension tweaks. As a drift car they are a lot of fun and arguably more fun, in terms of what you can do with the car being 4wd, than a straight RWD car. This, IMHO, is largely because the GT4 has no electronic aids and so is a raw driving experience, and it also has a Torsen LSD in the back and a viscous coupling centre diff for true 4 wheel powersliding and easy oversteer. Anyway lots of debate going on and quite a few options too for under that magic 1k :-) Martin
  8. Oh yes them there Supras are mad cars for the money but again quite a lot to go wrong I guess - all depends on whether you can pick up a good example cause the Japanese cars, as we all know, are pretty reliable if looked after. Martin
  9. There is also the completely left-field option of a Celica GT4, which you could pick up for around 1k ... You also have the benefit of having been in one and seeing what they can do. No electronic traction aids or stuff messing about with things like the Scooby or Evo either (and you couldn't get one of them for 1k). IMHO potentially very cheap fun Depends if you want a cheap 4wd option, complete with turbo, but they can be money pits unless you get a good one. There are plenty of good ones around and 2 or 3 dedicated forums with for sale sections i.e. gt4oc.net, gt4ec.net and gt4dc.com, not to mention piston heads. Martin
  10. I concur an MX5 is probably a good all round choice TBH ... You probably wouldn't lose much money on it either ... Funnily enough I have a set of Recaro kevlar seats out of an MX5 Limited Edtion in my garage :-) On the 200sx a friend of mine must have got a bargain then cause he picked one up for £800 a couple of years ago, all it needed was a clutch and he uses it for drifting. Every day I see it in our works carpark and think - that is a nice car ... He has tuned it and put big boots on it too ... Glad you enjoyed Saturday Chris. I was impressed how quickly you got the hang of it and the Z's do seem to drift well. I also did 70 miles last time when Darren was there, so addictive isn't it Saturdat was my third time there but I think I have got the hang of the Toyota now and with it having so much grip I do have to leather it which is loads of fun. Another guy randomly asked me for a passenger lap on Saturday, how could I refuse The small twisty circuit has become my favourite now and also seems to be the one with least traffic on it Martin
  11. Hi Chris, Martin here from yesterday ... Good to meet you and Tom and I think we all had a great day. Funnily enough some of my mates were thinking the same thing about buying a rear wheel drive banger ... I reckon a good choice includes a Nissan 200 sx, Nissan Silvia (if you can still find them) :-) Alternatively BMW 3 series ... BTW do you have any pics/vids of my car from yesterday ? Martin
  12. Hey Chris, Hope you and Tom got back safely. Great to meet you both today, you certainly got the hang of things very quickly I think we all had a brilliant day And I hope you enjoyed the passenger laps in the Yota If you have any pics or vids of the Yota let me know too please ... Thanks Martin
  13. I am off to this event so will see some of you there :-) I will be in a Black Toyota GT4 so not hard to spot, neither are the Z's LOL Martin
  14. I have booked the session for the 9th May ... Thanks for the tip-off guys and see some of you there :-) Darren/Paul, have you any further pics/videos of my car ? Cheers Martin
