Sorry for the confusion, not a actual double DIN head unit, just a double DIN touch screen (Theres a lilliput one quite cheap on ebay) - i won't have a headunit at all - just two touch screens, so i want to route the sound through from the PC to the amp directly.. so i guess i'm asking what connections the standard amp and speakers have.. do the differ from standard ones? - I don't really want to swap out the speakers immediately, as i was hoping to do the install in stages, but i think i will defently have to swap the amp? Without actually seeing the current audio setup on a car its hard.. i'm a planning freak and want to know what i'm getting myself into by buying a 350Z! - And if i start buying the bits now, it won't be so noticable on my wallet!

I was going to replace with a double DIN touch screen and also a touch screen in the cubby, so i wouldn't fit a stereo aswell.. going to be purely using the pc, without a headunit

When i've bought my 350Z, i'm thinking of doing a car pc install, but to get the sound from the pc to the speakers, sounds like i will need a new amp with RCA inputs.. from what i've read the standard systems don't have RCA inputs.. so my main question is just to verify that..
Now if i replace the amp, is it necessary to change the speakers throughout the car straight away (are they connected with normal connections)?

Hey,
When buying a JDM, they have been converted to MPH already generally?
Now does this conversion now mean that any speed output from the OBDII port will be in KM/H or MPH?
Also, are there any other downfalls of having a JDM concerning the dash or generally around the car, i know the stereo will need to be replaced, and sat nav will be in japanese, but apart from these am i missing anything?
Thanks in advanced

So, i'm looking to buy a 350Z soon, and i'm just doing research on how to replace the audio system.
I'm thinking of the car PC route, using the following Double DIN touch screen (will add a second monitor to the cubby - haven't choosen yet):
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Double-DIN-Lillip ... 240%3A1318
Assuming i buy a Z with steering controls, i've looked into a way of using these with it:
http://www.shipsound.com/product_info.p ... _id=102843 - IR receiver for PC
http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/info%5f728%2ehtml - Steering wheel controls to IR
Now does this look like it would fit the Z's steering controls? - As long as i can get the IR signals sent, i'm good to go..
Then finally would be the sound from the PC to the factory amp.. now i have no idea about the connections on car amps, but im assuming this method should work?
http://www.zzounds.com/item--HOSYRA154 - PC to RCA connector wired to:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136CLR2SW/ ... ml?tp=2610 - RCA to amp connectors
My main question is does anyone see any major problems with this or are there any other solutions available that i have overlooked?

Ah i see, thanks for info.

Thanks all
Quick question about the steering controls, am i right in saying that the left hand side ones control the bose system? And then the right hand side is cruise control etc. Then if the Z has a birdview sta nav, this is controlled within the birdview cubby? So to keep the steering controls, i'd only need a stock head unit? Or can these controls be used with certain aftermarket head units?

I'm based in Coventry, Midlands.
Yeh, i'd like to try and keep the controls on the steering wheel working where possible, but i can't really plan much ICE wise until i've got the car and see what its got when i buy it i guess.

Hey,
Just thought i'd say, looking to buy a Z in the near future.. just building up the funds and having a browse round the forums as to what spec i'd be looking to buy etc
From what ive seen i think i'll be going for a 03-ish plate UK model

Hey, thanks, looking to buying a Z, so seeing what kind of entertainment can be installed in the nicest way.
Another query about this - the video line in, does it also accept sound, was thinking of hooking up a DVD player with that

Hey,
Wondering if the Panda 8080 allows mp3/video etc to run from usb pens as i noticed in the pic on ebay it has a usb port.. thinking it'd be simpler to have music on a usb pen and run it that way rather than my ipod. Is the music/video player inbuilt any good?

Thanks for the advice, it is most likely what i'll end up doing..
Is there a thread which specifies which size speakers/subs etc fir in the stock areas? - And do the positions differ between BOSE and non-BOSE etc?
