    Glen Fruin Road

Me driving my Nissan 350z on the Glen Fruin Road near Loch Lomond, voted one of the best driving roads in Britain. Chased by my mate in his Type R, soundtrack provided by Muse with 'Knights of Cydonia' and my passenger with his inane banter. Tremendous day, vid possibly does not do it justice, the gradients have to be seen to be believed. Still pics to follow shortly
  4. drove a mazda rx8 192 and it was guff. felt like it had nothing under the bonnet, and had this weird whine noise as you went up the revs. the dealer assured me it was "engineered in for the sporting experience".
  5. doing just town (4 miles each way) i average 15mpg. combination 50/50 town and motorway its 22mpg
  6. aware that I am probably fighting a losing battle here, I might come out in defense of the humble PT cruiser convertible. On a road trip holiday to california a couple of years ago, i emerged from the plane bleary eyed at LAX to find one of these as my hire car instead of the sebring or similar i thought I had booked. Not best pleased, too tired to fight, i took it. To my surprise the punchy 2.4 litre turboe'd lump was pretty fast, was a good car to live with, and the birds seemed to like it
  7. that merc looks absolutely beast, well complemented by the porsche. good find!
  8. i phoned nissan GB. They told me that the manufacturers suggested remedy for the bubbling is refurbishing the wheel. And he suggested that the rear axle replacement is specific to the 2003-2005 model years, and that nut/bolt replacement and greasing would be adequate for my car as they had apparently mostly sorted it by the time mine was built.
  9. that makes sense on the wheels, i am not actually sure how you would manage to refurb a wheel for what is an intrinsic problem to the manufacture of the wheel. I shall give nissan GB a call and see what their take on it is.
  10. so I went this afternoon. After a two and a half hour (!) wait, they said they would replace the bose, repair the clicking real axle by ordering some new bolts, grease them and torque them, and found bubbling on all four of the rays, taken some pics to send to nissan and said they would refurbish them. Not so sure about the last two solutions there, doesnt really tally up with a lot of experiences on here. Thoughts?
  11. also, is there a specific TSB relating to the skipping bose? have had a look through the link above and can see the clicking axle thing, but all the TSB for audio refer to overboosted bass
  12. any experience of parks over in east kilbride? they are my only alternative. I may still go in to AC tomorrow, even just to see what they tell me
  13. so i phoned the arnold clark dealership in shettleston (east glasgow) to book in to be seen tomorrow. Told who I think was the service manager about the list of things to be done, and putting on my best colombo voice, asked him if he had heard of any of these issues before. Answer: no, never heard of any of those problems before in relation to the 350. Oh dear. Think I may have my hands full come tomorrow
  14. hi, I have a 2007 56 plate facelift GT. got it in jan, only done 17000 miles, very happy with it. I am intending to take it to a local dealer to have several issues addressed, all of which I believe are covered by warranty: 1. Skipping Bose head unit - mostly at motorway speeds - well covered by this forum, confident this should be sorted. 2. Bubbling on one (passenger rear) ray - varying experiences as far as I can see 3. Clicking rear axle - havent managed to see if this is covered by the warranty? My question is this - should I be prepared to go in and argue my case for these issues to be sorted, or are they covered by things like technical service bulletins within nissan, which would be a valuable peice of knowledge to have before I go in. With car dealers doing less business these days, I could understand a reluctance to give service time to issues that may not be the fault of the dealership themselves. They may be more keen to allocate time to paying customers! Has anyone gone in with documentation to support their case? Or is it worth giving Nissan GB a call beforehand and get their view on it? And finally, anyone got experience of Nissan dealers within the glasgow area who are good to deal with? Cheers
  15. spotted in tesco car park at silverburn in glasgow this afternoon. Parked next to an R33. nice

  17. good one guys, good one. This does not solve my problem though. I still want that shirt. ...
  18. he did indeed. i may make tentative enquiries about purchasing one.
  19. I was watching a replay of an old top gear episode on iplayer today (think it was originally broadcast in 2007) which featured a rather funky 350z hawaiian shirt. Has anyone seen it? I though it looked rather nice
  20. I bought 2007 zed from a mitsibushi dealer in jan, had a year left on the warranty. Do i need to contact nissan to officially transfer the warranty over? And does the servicing need to be done at a main dealer to keep the warranty valid?
  21. i suppose that would make even more sense. cheers!
  22. fair enough. The warning light did not come on the dashboard though, even once the windshield had run dry. might need to check that one out
  23. living and working in glasgow (west end) I do an average of 8 miles a day all in town, get around 250 miles from a tank (just before the light comes on) and my computer tells me I am averaging 16mpg.
