    MOT is only £50 and they'll have trade accounts on AutoTrader and PistonHeads so re-advertising won't have cost them a penny!

     

    Anyway, could be for the best. I just missed out on a couple of cars but then found a mint car at a main dealer for a good price.

     

    Don't ignore main dealers when looking. I've noticed quite a few being traded in for 370's and they rarely advertise on AutoTrader.

    Seems harsh for them to keep your whole deposit for pulling out on the same day?!?!? They can't have incurred any costs already... Surely by law there's some cooling off period? :rant:

     

    Worth asking for at least half back as a guesture of goodwill ;) If they're not interested it's probably a sign that their after-sales service would be equally bad :thumbdown:

     

    Ironically their PistonHeads adverts say "No Hidden Charges"

  3. If I was a betting man I’d say that the “Bose†(Clarion) and non-Bose (probably Clarion too) share the same transport.

     

    Correct! I don't know why this is called a "Bose issue" as the Clarion head units are at fault. I just completed the job on my unbranded non-GT head unit and it was 99.9% identical inside... Only a few differences on the rear PCB. I suspect the Bose version just disables/bypasses the internal amp.

     

    Did a couple of things differently to your guide:

     

    1. I found that you don't really need to remove the springs and shocks. Just undo 3 screws at the PCB end of the CD unit, lever the cover away and there's enough room to pull/insert the ribbon cable.

     

    2. I trimmed 1mm off the end of the ribbon cable so it could be fully inserted and make contact in a different position. I also added some tape on the back to make it thicker, and more tape to hold it in position.

  4. I went down to S2000-4U the other weekend because they have a few 350Z's and wasn't impressed. I remember that car looked OK but the gear knob looked very worn considering the "recorded mileage".

     

    Based upon the other tatty cars there I wouldn't buy anything from them. Almost all their BMW's had badly repaired scratches and knocks on the bumpers... Most of the S2000's had corroded alloys... All cars had rusty discs like they hadn't moved for a while and when I was there they had to boost one of the 350's because the battery had gone flat.

     

    Just my gut reaction visiting the place, but googling their name brings back plenty of complaints about their service. Beware!

  5. See my rant on the dealers thread... This dealer has gone down hill in the last 5 years!

     

    One time I went there they lost a bleed nipple dust cover after changing the brake fluid. If they can't even work on your car without losing parts...

     

    Last few times I've been in there, there's usually an angry customer at the service desk asking why parts haven't come in, or why their car need hundreds of pounds work.

     

    Only used the Aldershot branch once... Car was booked for a morning service, but when I arrived they couldn't guarantee when it would be done. When I returned at the end of the day it still wasn't ready.

    I would agree with that! West Way Basingstoke used to be OK... I bought an Almera GTI there and servicing used to be cheap (£80-£160 with courtesy car).

     

    Last year I took my 200SX there for an MOT and they correctly spotted my sticking front calipers, offering to "rebuild" them and fit new discs/pads for £350. Not too bad I thought as refurb calipers are £250 and Nissan discs/pads £200.

     

    But when I took it in I watched the mechanic simply throw discs and pads on in 20 minutes. When challenged the service guy said they had "re-greased" as agreed, using the non-existent "grease port" :rant:

     

    I should have challenged them more strongly but it was a Saturday and I needed the car. Also it was my word against his, I had no paperwork to prove they promised to "rebuild" them.

     

    So if you have to use them, get everything in writing and ask to inspect the work and replaced parts.

     

    This year it took them 5 weeks to get a set of seals so AutoGlass can replace my windscreen... and then they didn't order all the required parts so I'm still waiting.
