  1. I thought it was pretty interesting. Don't know about running my Z on brake cleaner though...
  2. Probably in the wrong section (hope not), but I was wondering if anyone wanted to roll down to the Autosport show in Birmingham with me tomorrow. I'm near Huntingdon so which ever way the GPS points from there is the route I will take. I have only seen one 350z in near me, and it's another American. Anyway, my cell phone is 07594316585, so call or text anytime (i'll be under one of the cars tonight anyway...
  3. For the 14.1 in the NA Zed I had 275/40 18 Bridgestone Potenzas running at 22psi on the rear and 40psi on the front. For the 13.9 in the SC Zed I had 275/40 18 Goodyear F1 DSD3's running as same psi as above. Has to be said that this was a once a year 1/4 mile event and the track was very dusty both years. Traction was the big issue esp with the SC. It will definitely be interesting to see what your numbers will be this time around. DR's make a difference, although I don't have experience with the r888's. Have you looked at Quick Time Pro's or MT ET street radials? Very good, and you'll definitely hook off the line.
  4. Good point - My 400bhp supercharged Zed wasn't significantly quicker than my previous NA Zed (300bhp approx) over the 1/4 mile 13.9 (SC) vs 14.1 (NA). This was all down to traction. In fact my previous NA Zed had a quicker 0-60 time of 5.1 secs (NA) vs 5.4secs (SC). However I've addressed this by buying a set of trackday 18's with Toyo R888's and am just now in the process of fitting a Kaaz diff so this should see my 1/4 mile times fall significantly. Next 1/4 mile isn't untill Mar though so won't know result till then. My Zed already has Tein Superstreets with EDFC and Nismo Anitroll Bars + control arms + upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel so theres not much more I can do to improve the drivetrain. What tires (and tire pressure) were you running on both runs? As far as S/C goes, there isn't much you can do in-car to adjust boost to a more usable level besides throttle modulation, but have ya'll {turbo'd guys} used scramble boost before?
  5. There are a couple of pictures from a while ago here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17001&start=0 Went a cruise thing tonight in Peterborough and got some pictures (feature????) in a magazine called Max Power. Won't be driving it for a while though; boost is turned all the way down and still lots of spinnage...not to mention she's blowing really bad. Going with custom tubular manifolds here shortly and am going to add the wastegate relocation/dump pipes with better gaskets as well.
  6. Hello all. My Z finally came in from the States, and is sitting in the garage. Pretty happy, but needs a WASH!!!! First time that car has ever seen snow... I chose the Greddy TT kit as it was more of a tuner's kit. The APS was nice, but I had built a few cars already using Greddy parts, and I felt more confortable with them (which paid off as now I have the 20g's instead of the 18g's). Not to start the whole S/C vs turbo debacle, but I've driven two S/C Z's (roots & centrifugal) and am very glad to have went the TT route. The power curve is extremely linear.
  7. The lack of boost pressure and overheating were a blind, desperate stab in the dark The last time it was driven it held the coolant/water better than before, but overheated. Driving civil at under 3k rpm, and letting the car idle for about 35 minutes did not cause the temp to rise either. The coolant system was bled twice. I had to come back to new york so i wasn't able to get a second opinion sort-of speak regarding the accuracy of the temp gauge-but then again i hadn't thought of that:blush: The fans work properly. Sad because i was surely looking forward to throwing the beast on the dyno while i was home. But better safe than sorry i guess...i'd hate to have to warped heads on my hands lol. I would love to have this issue resolved before i ship the car to the UK!!
  8. My apologies in advance for such a long question. I just went down to Alabama where my Z has been sitting for about a year. I put a new battery in it and it started right up. Everything was the same as when i left it, except after a short drive up the road and back i noticed it was overheating pretty quick. I bought a new thermostat in hopes it would be something minor like that. No change; it was still overheating...not consistantly as sometimes it would remain at normal temp. I filled up the radiator, and noticed a leak under the car. I tightened up the bottom radiator hose and that fixed the problem pretty good, however it was still overheating. My second assumption was that the radiator needed to be flushed and bled. Again, no change even after doing this. The mixture was 50/50. A nissan tech said it was probably a blown headgasket. There is no milkiness or mixture of any type in the oil. I am wondering this: is it possible that the head gasket is in fact blown, abeit a small pinhole, allowing air to get into the coolant lines thus causing the overheating issue? Also, could this be why i thought there was a boost leak (i did not make a boost leak tester for lack of time)? The characteristics are as follows: The car will still make a small amount of boost ~2-5psi, does not spool very quickly at all. The blitz sbc id II is at the same setting it has always been for low boost. Any ideas?
  9. Thanks all. We're very excited about moving over there, and have already started looking for houses over there. We've found about four good prospects (i've noticed some of them didn't have closets in the rooms??). They are a bit large for a small family i think, but i'd like to have a good size yard. Stanski were you joking about a car seat mod for the Z? I would gladly replace the amp rack for that at this point lol!!
  10. Yeah man. My parents are up, so i'm about to help my dad install a sub box in his Cooper S (the turbo one...anyone want pictures?). My (now) wife have even gotten us an apartment in my absence.
  11. Just had to tell ya'll about the best weekend of my life. Not only did i get back to New York from Iraq (deployed 15 months!!!) but i was able to hold my 5 month old daughter for the first time. She smiled at meas soon as i held her. I married my fiance two days ago, had a surprise 25th birthday yesterday, and will be buying a new SUV on monday. Life is good.
  12. Yeah i was watching a video from a meet (i believe it's of ya'll) on youtube and some guy set off a camera in a tunnel. Yeah i just got my Alabama driver's license reinstated last week - thanks mom - Although i'm not sure exactly how that works because i read that i'll have to get another type of driver's license? Just out of curiousity...how severe are minor traffic violations ie speeding? I definetly don't plan on being childish anymore (5 month old daughter now), but always good to know such things.
  13. I have more (better quality) videos of some races, fly-bys, etc. but i'll wait to upload them once i get back to the states...the internet here is garbage. Speed cameras? Never had to deal with them before. That track is about the same distance from my house now. Looks like i'll be spending quite a bit for tires. Very exciting.
  14. It laid 618whp according to my gtech pro before i left. I have put this in my talon (which was dyno'd at 527whp) and have noticed that it is +/- 3whp. Pretty accurate. Once i get home **i leave tomorrow!!!** i will be able to get it on the dyno to do the finer tuning. I'd like to stop in at AAM (it'll be on the way up from Alabama, where the car is now, to New York) and get it done there. There will definitely be many more videos once i get home. I plan on taking it to the track (there is a 1/4mi track close-by) as soon as the snow clears. I ordered slicks not too long ago, so i'll have to practice getting out from a dig. Here is a video the first night i was running 14psi (BC set at 13.7psi): http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w54/ ... V00395.flv ^^^not sure which one works^^^ more vids to come as soon as i upload them. the internet is mad slow here.
