  1. Looked online at a 350Z from that same garage about two weeks ago - was just about to travel from Portsmouth to Halifax to buy but I ran a HPI check first with it being a loooong trip (would have paid cash there and then). Cat D write off - seller said nothing and would have had me make a 4 hour journey. Hope it was a different car. As they say, trust no-one!

P.S. This is my first post by the way - just bought a 2005 Gun Metal Grey GT - pick it up this week - the wait is killing me :-) Hello to everyone...

welcome aboard mate. hope you are enjoying it as much as the rest of us. just on the HPI front. where i got mine from, they said that it was HPI checked already, so i didnt bother checking it myself. thinking i'm prob a bit lazy now since i've bought it. will it be ok? and also is there any way i can check whether it was cat d or other damage since i own it now?

  2. Im in the trade, all our cars are sold without tax. Its the customers responsibility to get the tax after they have collected the car with us, we dont even need to see a cover note.

When the car is collected we give the customer the green slip off the V5 (we send the V5 to the DVLA) MOT if applicable and then we offer 7 days free insurance through Norwich Union if they need a cover note to tax it with. If they have their own by collection they use that instead.

Some dealers can tax a car without adding another owner to the log book but thats using a system only for new cars.

    Hope this helps

this is very interesting. i'm really not sure whether i need to do anything then and whether my tax is valid. i think when i bought the car, the car was in the showroom and the tax had run out. so before i collected it and part of the deal was that the dealer will put 6 months tax on. so when i got there, they already had the tax disc ready to give to me which is now displayed on the windscreen. i never gave them my insurance details. so do i need to transfer the tax into my name?

  3. this has got me thinking actually. when i bought my car a few weeks ago, the guys at the dealer taxed it for me. but they never asked about my insurance details. and i wasnt insured on the car until the time i picked it up. and they gave me a 6 months tax disc till end of july when i picked it up. how can they have got the tax on the car if no one was insured on it?

  4. hello guys, just wanted to see if anyone out there has the dvd birdview sat nav from nissan and then also installed a double din unit ice system.

i purchased a car that had that put in with the ALPINE IVA-W202R unit with also the original birdview sat nav from nissan. but i'm finding that i cant get the voice commands to work. i was wondering if i am doing something wrong or will the install of the ice system affect the voice commands on the sat nav as it comes out of the speakers?

the car also had a new amp and sub in if that could also be a problem to the sat nav. any ideas would be great guys. and i'm guessing because of the system, nissan warranty wont cover my sat nav so they wont fix it?

  5. Reception is fine, not as good as with the original 8ft antennae array, but works fine for me.

    It was this one:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_376731_langId_-1_categoryId_165622

    Ripspeed Black Aluminium Aerial.

thanks mate, i'm confused now, you say that reception isnt as good as the original flag pole, but i'm finding the reception terrible with the original, should i change?

  6. Try this ICT 29-001 - Alpine Head Unit Adapter

Price: £4.49 from sextons. As long as your system is a Bose and they used this wiring>http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/fitting_accessories/steering_wheel_control_adaptor/ict/p~29-674.html?cat=659

thanks for that. i'll definitely have a look, i'm just not confident on taking everything apart myself so would want a professional to do it or someone who knows what they are going. i think it's still using the bose speakers but it has a new sub. will the adaptor still work?

    cheers

  7. Hi Ian,

I can highly recommend giving Terry @ Vivid Audio a call (http://www.vivid-audio.com/home.html) hes based in Horsham but thats not far from London.

    Mark

thanks Mark, i will definitely look into them. but would prefer not having to travel far, that;s why i was wondering if halfords will do it.

    cheers

?????? You did say you bought a Zed didnt you?

haha true, but i'm very impatient about getting things perfect on the beauty before i take it out on a proper run. just want it the way i like it first. if you understand what i'm saying

  8. so guys, what is the verdict i'm confused, is the reception better with the original aerial or changing to the honda stubby? i have the original on still i think, and the reception is terrible. i have an alpine double din head unit fitted if that makes a difference.

    cheers

  9. hello guys, i have just taken delivery of my first zed whoop whoop! and i promise i will get an intro up with pics soon. although it feels like i've been on here for ages.

just a question. the car i bought had ice system fitted. the dealer didnt know much about it and i didnt get to speak with the previous owner. but everything works fine. from what i can see, it's got an Alpine W502R head unit with a reverse camera. it is also fitted with bluetooth for phone and an ipod connect and finally audiobahn sub. the only thing that is missing is that it doesnt hook up onto the steering wheel control. because i'm not too confident on taking apart the interior myself and doing the wires. can anybody advise me where and what places will help me sort out the steering wheel control problem, will halfords do it?

    thanks alot in advance.

    Ian

  10. hello guys, just a quick question about how the water jets spray in other people's zeds. do they work lik eon other cars and squirt half way onto the middle of the windscreen? as mine seems to just splutter near the bottom. and then the wiper flicks it to the side and off the windscreeen.

my car is still under manufacturer warranty, if there is a problem will nissan fix it free of charge?

also i just got my first zed haha and loving it. just been reading about rear windscreen wash, just wondering how to get that work? where is the switch?

    thanks
