  1. The ticket was issued through a third party company that use 'parking eye' technology so I guess ANPR. The times of entry and exit are down to the second. Dunno about the address, I suppose they pay DVLA for it, and as for 'they can't by law' can you explain?

I should think the carpark is private property and is signed in various places regarding the time limit imposed.

It does say in small writing at the bottom, payment is acceptence of terms but longer than that and I can't remember it all as I don't have it to hand.

I have told the missus to ring them up and tell them she isn't going to pay it and will no longer be a customer of the supermarket (Aldi) but if it is third party company I am not sure if they will care about that!

  2. Like the affect, is that some posterisation in the first shot?

Looks like you could have cloned out the fence too...

Aah the palindrome that is NASSAN in the second shot :D

  3. Because a stone chip on the windscreen turned into a flippin great crack overnight, so now I have to stump the £60 excess to get it replaced

AND my missus got a £40 parking ticket in the post for parking 15 minutes over the 1.5hr limit in a supermarket carpark.

I accept the windscreen as the actual glass is much more than £60, does anyone know if it will be a OEM or some other make that they use? (My Lexus had to be OEM because of the wiper heater elements) I can't see anything special about the Z screen.

As for the supermarket, flippin cheek, we won't be going to shop there again.

  4. Are the amp input/outputs custom to the Bose or can the amp be taken out and rewired into a better one?

The Pioneer double din full screen units look nice, but very expensive, so I am not sure if I want to make the investment in updating everything, because I know that even if the answer to my question is yes its possible I would end up replacing the whole lot. I did the same with my Leon, first it was just going to be the HU, then add a sub, which would mean an amp, so may as well replace the speakers and bigger amp etc, rip out interior, swear never to do it again, but I am not happy with this system so it may have to go, not sure yet!

  5. Welcome!

Must admit I wouldn't want to buy a new Z and take that sort of hit, the nearly new ones are far more attractive in that respect.

I came from a Cupra R (275bhp) via a Lexus IS220D and the Z is a far different beast compared to the R. If you mash the pedal you are not waiting for the turbo to spin up, it just launches. No more torque steer, much better noise and it feels far more planted on the road. I don't know if you did any other mods to the Cupra, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how different and better the Z is.

  6. I sometimes drive with the radio off, but when at a standstill I hear a hiss from the speakers, not loud but noticeable and annoying.

Is this normal or do I have a supression problem, in any case I would have thought that the noise would change pitch if supression. Or is it just that the bose system is rubbish?

I have not been impressed with the radio so far, it sounds hollow, lacks warmth and has no bottom end to speak of.

So is the hiss normal or something else I need to speak to the dealer about?

  7. Very nice, I saw those wheels on a new one in the Nissan showroom when mine was in getting the cd player changed. Wish I had them, but also happy with the standard rays.

Nice pictures, park it in the same place by your flat at night with a slow exposure. The only thing I would change is to clone out that red sign as it draws the eye away from a beautiful car.

    Welcome :D

  8. Right, try again and my history from 1983;

    yvsmrz.jpg

Vauxhall Chevette saloon, owned by Grandad, then Dad, then me, in yellow. Tought me rear wheel drive handling, went through three clutches ended up painting the bottom half black to blend in the pug and hammerite. It had chrome bumpers and wheel caps, spent a lot of quality time in that car. There is a XR3i turbo in the background, unfortunately he suffered from vandals quite often and then blew the engine due to inferior fuel.

    yvsmr0.jpg

Honda Quintet - started a family, wanted a CRX really :( mechanicals never broke, but bits started falling off it when the brown rot set in. Not a particuarly nice looking car but it did the job.

A87CNP Ford Fiesta 1.4 CVH in poo brown, which was about as good as the colour. Went on hols to Scotland in it, from Kent stopped at Edinburgh as the missus wanted to check out the Star Trek exhibition, got back to the car and it had been broken into, with some muppets stealing some dirty underwear and toiletries. The police were amazed that we had come that far in the car. It had a tendency to pop the oil filler cap at high revs, which proved embarrasing stopping to run back down the road to collect it after some overtaking manouvre. It was rubbish, but I was down on my luck at the time.

    yvsmrw.jpg

Company Vauxhall Cavalier 1.7TD white, not bad, Oil pump failed which killed the turbo, oops, glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Y Company Vauxhall Astra Estate 1.6, ok but didn't keep it for long as tax a killer so went onto car allowance and got myself

    yvsmrv.jpg

Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 16V SRI lovely car, really liked it, but the dealers let me down a lot so I vowed never to own another Vauxhall.

    y7az54.jpg

Seat Leon 1.8T 180 sport. First new car other than company vehicles, bought for engine and nearly the same as having a VW or Audi 1.8T. Pain to keep the spoked wheels clean and a bit bland on the styling so..

    y7azsa.jpg

M20VTR Seat Leon Cupra R 1.8T 210 (52 on a private plate, do you get it? 20 Valve Turbo R) chipped to 275bhp stonking performance, bought new and sold 3.5yrs later with 110K on it. Not brilliant reliability but nothing really major failed. Downer was contacting the chap I sold it to and finding out he sold it on for more that I did 6 months later!

    yn0j45.jpg

GR55 Lexus IS220D SE-L Lovely car filled with some pointless toys but mostly good and brilliant DD5.1 14 speaker system. I don't think a Lexus should ever have a diesel and the gearbox was bad, I only got about 28mpg average out of it, shame to sell it but wanted something more exiting for the daily driver.

Now bought this on impulse when looking for a car for the missus. B)

    yu2qog.jpg

56 plate Sunset GT coupe, but not had it long so no thoughts about changing yet, and no plans to mod it. I lowered the Lexus and put pimp wheels on it but that spoiled the ride.

    Also in the armoury

    yquyf2.jpg

F 1989 Porsche 928 S4 with stop and go pedals which it does both very well on the 5.L V8 I am gently restoring it, bringing the tired 20 year old items up to date, suspension, engine mounts, HT leads and that sort of thing.

  9. No photo, but description.

Under the cross brace in the middle of the boot there are two clips which hold a couple of bits of metal with an angle and two holes in, one end takes the tanau cover the other takes a normal trim clip and fits in the hole under the cross brace. The clips under the cross brace were replaced. You can tell if is that causing the rattle as it quite easily flops about unless it is fixed in place.

  10. I think my wording could have been better, I have not actually seen the dealer about this yet, but I reckon they would be unwilling to drive at the speed required, so yes I have the option to record or get them to come out with me.

I will give them a call, I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this noise which is why I asked if it was normal.

  11. I hadn't noticed, it was my wife that said she could hear a police car, but it is actually a whine from the gearbox when approaching roundabouts and such and changing down, it sounds like a distant siren. Is that normal?

I also get a reverbing whine noise at motorway speed but I won't be able to get the dealer to test it as they won't drive that fast.

If my car had much more than 4500 miles on it I would have said a wheel bearing.

  12. I am not sure I am qualified to welcome you as I have only been here a short while myself, so lets just settle for a warm and sticky hello.

I also have a 56 plate GT in sunset. I like the 4 little LEDs in the headlight cluster, which you wont notice if you are driving, only if you have got out and left the sidelights on.

Looks nice, I had a black car (Leon Cupra R) and it was a pain to keep clean, so I will never have a black car again, nor red come to that as it seemed to be a magnet for other people to crash into. Mind you I only had my Zed for a couple of weeks before someone ran into that. :surrender:

  13. I couldn't get to the meet at Thurrock, other things going on, but maybe next time if I am not working. (I do nasty shifts).

Saturday was the first time the wife had been in the car (well it stops the carpet getting dirty), so anyway she said.

'Be careful, people have been killed along this stretch of road, but it makes a nice noise'.

'I feel ill, like i've been on a rollercoaster'.

    :yahoo::wacko:B)

  14. I had saw the film the other night, very good it was too.

I was in a digital DTS screening and I thought the sound was awful, maybe they had it too loud, as something was vibrating with some of the explosions and half the time I couldn't understand what the Batman was saying. The bass and music effect mix seemed to be overpowering the centre.

I also found that I couldn't really keep up with the fight scenes as they are dark, too close and it was like the blurry stuff you get with LCD screens.

Apart from the technicalities (which was probably cinema related) I will get this on blu-ray as I am sure it will be better, or rather my system is better set up.

They use shells for the vehicles they crash or blow up.

  15. It is pretty much spotless, there is a slight scuff on the rear N/S wheel and a little scrape on the underside of the front bumper, but it has only done 4300 miles now so I would expect it to be in pertty good condition!

I thought all the lights had the orange LEDs in them, or is it just something that was done on the late 2006 model?

I usually do a lot of research before buying a car, but this one (if you read my first post) was more of an impulse so I am not sure what it is supposed to have as standard, and I am not even sure what the official name of the paint is!

    Thanks for the comments

Btw all the pictures were taken on Canon digital Ixus70 on a tripod and in the case of the first pic on a step ladder that I found in the car park!
