Hands free very poor - any fixes?

Not quite a 'modification' but this seemed the most appropriate place to post this.

 

I have had my 2011 370Z for a couple of weeks now and have used the hands free kit with my iPhone on half a dozen occasions and every time the person on the other line reports that it is a really bad line and they can hardly hear me.

 

This is very disappointing as I use my car for business and really need a useable hands free phone connection.

 

Is this a known fault, or is the hands free just crap as standard?

 

Does anyone know of any ways of improving the sound quality?

I found the exact same thing (and still do).

 

First off i moved the mic closer to the driver, as it is positioned closer to the passenger, behind the map reading lights.

 

Didnt make it any better, so i then put some insulation/padding behind the mic, but again it did next to nothing.

 

If i cared about it more, i would try wiring in a new mic..

I can't even here the other person when i'm driving let alone worry about them hearing me! The sound level vs the noise instead is crap.
