MCook Posted October 20, 2014 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Sorry if this has been covered already, I did have a search but came across nothing I am planning to take some time off work soon to sort out all the 'issues' with my zed, and get a service at the same time. I use to use just a local garage to me that were absolutely fine working with my old Saab but seemed awfully lost when it came to diagnosing a suspension knocking issue. I would like to take it somewhere near-ish that will know there way around my zed.. would I be best going directly to Nissan for a service? I was thinking that will probably be my best bet, I would like to get my service done at Horsham, but I would prefer to get my suspension issues sorted before doing a long journey such as that. I am probably worrying too much but I do get very strong humming and vibration from the front once I go above around 40mph. If you go there see if a mate will drive behind you just incase? My guess is wheel bearings causing the vibration, and worn bushes or the 'Banana arms' causing the knocking noises. My local garage were adamant the noise was from the rear and wanted to charge me £500 for new rear shocks. I am 100% sure all the issues are from the front. They already charged me nearly £300 for the rear W brace which they thought would solve the knocking.... Would have to have my mother follow me as not many of my friends can drive! Im not a fan of garages who have the attitude of well we could try this and that and that... just ends up costing a fortune. Better to take it to a specialist and just pay a little bit more once, instead of paying less 4 times! haha. If it is the wheel bearing you should be fine to drive it to the garage assuming there is only a slight humming at the moment, they get very noticable when there completly shot. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
comrade Posted October 20, 2014 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Lift the wheel in question up so that it is completely in the air and try to rock in with your hands. If the bearing is shot there will be free play in it. If there is no free play you are safe to drive.
