BOSE

For a while my BOSE CD player has been skipping when cold. I mentioned it to my local dealer 2 months ago when I took car in for its 1st service, and they told me that they would order me a new unit.

Last week I received a call from the dealer telling me that the unit had arrived.. :yahoo: I arranged to pop in later that week as I had the day of work and as it would only take 45 minutes it wouldn’t take up much of my well deserved day off.

After waiting one hour and half, the young girl behind the service desk came over to apologize. It seems the stereo on the unit that has been sent out does not work, but would put my old unit back in and order me another one.. This seemed very strange, how could a new unit be sent out that doesnt work.. over the next hour or so I pondered this question.

I seemed to remember seeing a thread on here that said they replace units with reconditioned ones.

After three hours of waiting for my car, the young girl returned with my keys. My old unit had been refitted however is displaying "secure" and will reset itself after 20 minutes. I asked whether it was going to be a new unit that is ordered or a reconditioned one. I was told that it would be reconditioned and this is the only option Nissan will allow.

Well today my unit still does not work at all and still displays "secure". I gave my dealer a call. They were completely puzzled why this is. After several hours they called me back, told me to take my battery off the car for 10 mins which should reset the BOSE unit, and then told me to insert a four digit code. Sceptical I decided to give it a go. Anyway it has not worked.

Does anyone know how I can get this unit working?

Chris you mentioned in a previous thread that you had some sort of email to help me argue for a new unit, I would appreciate if you could pass this on.

Thanks

Mike

I will try an dig out the mail from Bose that helped others get a new unit - but I have had a new pc (the old one broke) and it may take me some time to locate it as I dont know if the backup archive I took will work. Ill try tonight when Im back at the laptop.

The basics of it were that an issue had been rectified on all new units, which should assist the dealer in requesting a NEW unit from Nissan rather than a refurb.

Quite what "refurbishing" is done I do not know, as they can hardly reproduce the fault with the stereo on a bench in a working environment instead of in a car in a cold garage.

As Mike says - get it back to the dealers and request they fix it - their problem, not yours.

Well be back on to the dealers today.. They now reckon that my unit is locked...no suprise there, but say that the car has done it!!

They say that my new (meaning reconditioned) unit will be here friday. They dont seem willing to budge..

However now I have to drive up to scotland 2mora with no radio..
