Unless you're going for looks or sound there's not much reason to replace the whole lot. If you're going for performance then generally changing the cats for HFCs is a good option, or going for decats and a motordyne XYZ pipe with HFC is great (although expensive) and sounds more sporty than stock. If you're purely after sound I'd try and meet people with the options you're thinking about and see what sounds good in the flesh - that's actually the most important thing, even sound recordings don't sound like the real thing.
