chris cook Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 just having a good look around, site seems really usefull & a great place to be. im looking to buy a 350 very soon but am completely undecided which one to buy, having had bmw's for the last 12 years i thought it was time for a change. would like some oppinions on roadster or coupe. thanks in advance Quote
Removed Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I'd suggest you get yourself a test drive of both so that you can decide for yourself! Hardtop/soft top issue is one of personal taste imo, so really apart from that the difference is minimal.... roadster is a bit heavier hance a fraction slower, but that's it! Quote
chris cook Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 thanks for the welcome. personally do not like the rear of the roadster with the roof up but looks fantastic with the roof down, also a good friend of mine has a s2000 so i can let him have all the summer pleasure. really like the coupe tho Quote
Removed Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 true the ZR with the roof up is not that nice in my view either I come from a coupe-cabriolet with steel roof and it was the best of both worlds, really.... but not really missing it apart from the few days in the summer Quote
M13KYF Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 As Val said it's all down to personnal taste. If your looking at buying second hand though you'll find more coupes for sale. Quote
chris cook Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 thanks guys, it will be second hand, always see triptronic though which im not sure about. think i prefere manual. is there somewhere that tells me all the proper stats on thse i.e. performance etc, u can never really tell from a dealer. M13KYF Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 If it's tip-tronic it will be a JDM model. No UK models came with tip-tronic. There is a thread on the forum about the differnces. Quote

M13KYF Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 See here http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=262 Some of the other guys will better advise you on JDM. Yes there are some differences and the limiter has to be taken into account. It seems that it's certainly worth while on a JDM if you are gonna be doing some mods. Quote

Chesterfield Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I have to admit that the roadster with the roof up (which it will be most of the time in the UK) is not as attractive, in my opinion, as the coupe. Having said that, the few days (or weeks if we are really luck in sumer) that you get to enjoy open top motoring, it really is worth it. Ive not had a summer in mine yet (only bought just over a month ago) but have owned a convertible for the past 6 years. My order of "attractiveness" would be: 1) Roadster with top down 2) Coupe 3) Roadster with top up. Once you have had open top motoring, it really is difficult to go back to hard top, without being jealous of old escort cabriolets in the summer! So we had a convertible this time too. Quote
chris cook Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 i would agree with you there. ive had a convertible for a couple of years now & would really like to have another, like you said we dont get all that much time to appreciate it but i plan to drive down to monaco a couple of times this year.
