popeacute Posted April 3, 2011 Share Posted April 3, 2011 installed some new ferodo ds2500 on the rears today, but there are some concerns: 1: removed the pads from offside and one of the shims was missing. do i get another one from nissan? (the rectangular one was there) 2: on the other side i was expecting to see 2 shims, one square and one cut at an angle with an arrow on it, but there was 2 rectangluar ones, is this correct? 3: also on the new pads none of them had the metal retainer sticking of the bottom left corner. is this needed? D4XNY Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 I just fitted the same pads too but to the front.... didnt bother with the shims, just put plenty of copper grease on the backs and sides And as for the retaining clips, they are just to warn you when brake pads are running low, if you maintain your car often, you can check these yourself. Neilp Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 You have to be careful with copper grease as I found out You just need a very fine coating where it meets the piston and edges of calipers.
