Any experience of cold weather/winter tyres

Have had my lovely 350 for a couple months now and its absolutely lovely.

 

However, getting traction off my slight incline gravel drive is already a little difficult - I'm expecting some difficulties out and about if its gets cold/icy/snowey because of the RWD.

 

Am I worrying too much? Does anyone have any experience of winter tyres and do they improve things in the cold weather?

 

p.s. I'm on Potenza 050s at the moment

ive not had experience of them on the zed myself but my understanding from those who have used them is that they make a good difference. although i'd avoid taking her out if you can, dont want bashed by some other numpty.
