Paint hardness guide.

OK can someone explain this paint hardness thing to me. Why is it important? What does it do etc?

I am told that this gives some basic information as to what you should be aware of when attempting to polish and or undertake detailing work, especially using machine polishers. I assume that those with professional detailing knowledge will comment as I am aware that they use an electronic measuring devices to assess paint thickness before undertaking any final polishing.

From my own research that is what I have been informed. I believe that it means in our case that we need to be a little more carefull when machine polishing on soft paint i.e. using less aggressive compounds etc, I await any other comments.
