Painting tips please?

Right, firstly, this kind of is 350z related, but if the mods feel it should be somewhere else, feel free to move it.

 

I have just bought a 1/32 scale slot car of the Z, only it is blade silver, i want it to match my girlfriend's GM Z. Now, a couple of questions:

 

1. Can i get the paint from halfords? will it be a good match?

2. What colour primer should i be using on plastic?

3. I've never used spraypaint before, any tips on using spray cans so i don't make a total balls-up of it?

Mate, your a legend! that's great, i'll print it out and pin it to the shed wall, kind of like a recipe while i attempt the spray job!
