Engine Cutting out just over 6600 rpm in Second Gear

Hi

 

I am wondering if this is normal or if I have done something to the engine. When I accelerate in 2nd gear the engine hits a limiter at just over 6600 rev and then cuts.

 

With the red line going up to 8000rpm, I would have thought it would have cut out there rather than just after the red line.

 

Any thoughts would be great, it's a UK 55 plate that done 5,000 miles.

Thats the limiter cutting in , they all do

Have you tried other gears with more then 6600 rev???? Didn't think so...

 

Nothing wrong with your engine, just the limiter.

get a UTEC and you'll soon be experiencing higher rev-limits (although if you go over 7k you'll more likely break something soon )

Welcome to the site mate

 

You can probably take it to about 7300rpm in all gears except 6....

 

Don't worry, no damage to the engine it cuts 2 prevent this

Try pressing the clutch then move the gear stick up across and up. Relase clutch.

 

It is nice how quick it reaches the limit though.
