FAO Swissz or other travelled people

Whats Geneva like as a place to live? Its supposed to be the second best place in the world (second to Zurich) but I'm more interested in the outlying regions - say 30/40 minutes outside Geneva.

 

I may have the opportunity to relocate to Geneva next year as a base. If I like it there then we may look to relocate long term.

 

I can't find any info on property - we've currently got land and a relatively large house, so we'd be looking for something rural with land (minimum 5 acres for horses).

 

Any ideas on prices/availabilty of rural property around geneva? Just fact finding at the moment to see what is possible. I don't know what my company would stump up with but our budget would be around 400-450k GBP ideally if we sold up in the UK. The other alternative is to rent a place with land.

 

I haven't even visited yet so have no idea what to expect!
