Skyrider Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Good Evening, My 350Z has developed a rattling noise, which is coming from the catalytic converter & associated heat shields, which have suffered corrosion. My dealer tells me that the only fix is to replace the entire front end of the exhaust, at considerable cost. Can anyone suggest how to fix this at a more reasonable cost, please? Thanks. Skyrider Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Thanks for your reply. I'm not really familiar with the arrangement of the heat shields, so not sure that I would want to tackle this myself. I understand that there are heat shields above & below the converter: I can see that the lower ones are quite corroded & flimsy, but cannot assess the condition of the upper shields. Are these not required to prevent excessive heat getting through the floor into the driver/passenger area? Quote
