Gday folks, just wanted to come back and say hello now I have myself a little car here in Melbourne after just over a year being away. Took that long to swallow my pride and get over the hugely inflated price tags for cars here. Cheapest Z on carsales.com.au is $18,000 and a 2003 base model with 200k kms on the clock. Haven't really had the need for car as I live and work in the city and transport around zone 1 is pretty easy but my want has now outweighed the need, some fantastic places in regional Victoria that the train just doesnt do justice too.
Bought a 2002 Alfa 147 2.0 (would've loved the GTA but the insurance quotes were absolutely insane and none would recognise my 8 years UK NCB, which is fair enough). Service history is spot on, very impressed with how it drives and the interior makes my 350Z look like an old folks home.
Hope everyone is well!

Hi Guys
Looking for a bit of advice about a possible road trip this summer in the Zed. Me and a mate are thinking about a bit of a tour of Europe. I'm up in Sunny Aberdeen and he lives in Edinburgh, so the logical first step is to drive down and get a ferry/channel tunnel across to France and take it from there.
I guess we want the trip to be about a week or so long and I don't want it to be Gumball rally 12 hours a day driving - wouldn't mind seeing some sites and spending time in places along the way. This is the first plan I've come up with....
Aberdeen
Edinburgh.... (stay overnight)
Brugge - - (stay overnight) 10hrs 40mins
Eindhoven - - (possible overnight) 2hrs 15mins
Nürburgring - - (possible overnight) 2hrs 25mins
Luxemborg - - (possible overnight) 1hr 55mins
Paris - - (possible overnight) 4hrs 5mins
London- - (possible overnight) 5hrs 30mins
Edinburgh (overnight) 7hrs 20mins
Aberdeen
Any comments/suggestions/tips gratefully received.
Wouldn't the Zed fit in one of your boats??

Just arrived home from the GP, what a day out! Simple Minds in concert to round it all off!
Well done Jenson

Somewhere between Edinburgh and Perth, I gave a honk of the horn as I unleashed all 1200cc in the Polo!
Silver 5 door Polo, probably wondered who the idiot was. Days racing?

Its for a year initially, with the hope of extending that if it all works out. Got a 5 week holiday round SE Asia then Sydney - Melbourne in Feb. Dont have a job sorted, just going to hit it hard over there. Got a healthy amount of Microsoft specific certifications on the old cv, a good enough degree, a cheeky smile and a wink!!

Yup put a post up a while ago, and it was the reason for selling the Z. Haven't been on much recently cos in all honest I'm finding it VERY tough pottering around in a 1.2 Polo and reading about the 350!

Folks, with the move to Australia just three months away I've started clearing out things in the flat that will def not be coming with. Have some snowboard gear that has only seen four days use. The specs for the board are that of something twice its price new, so its a bargain for someone. Been boarding myself for 12 years and I'll buy one of these again if i return from Oz, would just rather have the cash just now for sunblock and Castlemaine XXXX

Yeah planning to. Too much hassle and still not the right market to sell. Had the solicitors round already and they're confident it'll rent out no worries.

Decided to take the plunge. Flights booked, 7th January to Singapore, month based there to see Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and hopefully Hong Kong then down to Sydney........ Visa applied for, just the year working holiday but hopefully get some good IT work and never have to return to the UK!

Me neither and i'm a red blooded male, i just dont see it. Hope i've not offended a boyfriend or pimp on here!

Traffic light grand Prix`s are a senseless waste of 99 RON, but good fun 0-60!!
Dunno if I've missed this before, but why do you put random stuff in bold and caps like a tabloid newspaper article? Its not a dig, just always wondered.

G'day folks,
So I sold me car almost 3 weeks ago now and the money hasn't been put towards new metal yet. As each day passes I get increasingly frustrated living in this country if i'm honest and since graduating from uni 5 years ago and missing out on the opportunity to join a few mates that did the whole travel thing (one is now permanent resident in Perth, Aus) I still can't shake the feeling that I've missed out. Worked 6 months in Angola that really opened my eyes my working abroad
Just wondering if anyone on here has been out that way, how they got on finding work (already spoken to a couple agencies that have 'promised' work but cant always take them seriously). Flights are sorted as i've still got 100k airmiles not used and the visa option i was gonna take was the 1 year travel working visa.
Any advice/experience is welcome.

I'd have popped down in the Polo to say hello but the Scotland game kicks off at 6pm so wouldn't mind watching that.
Enjoy!

Fancy having a nosey at a car for me? Aberdeen is a long way to travel, would appreciate a good pair of eyes cast over it first before deciding anything.
-
Ive been told im "not allowed to waste my money on that" sorry matey. hope someone buys it off you. When I had it on my car I had it valued by a company online who quoted £495 + vat for it so this is a bargain.
is there not some kkind of webuyanycar.com for number plates then?
Cant remember, was some site you emailed it in and they sent back a value. Think i just googled.

Could well have been Stew. I spotted him last night, flashed like crazy only for him to tell me later it was his g/f driving and he was at work!

Have to agree with what a few folk have said, if you have to ask then the answer is no. I asked a similar question of the Noble M12 as I'd been accepted for finance and was on my way to put a deposit down. Read the forums and although I could quite easily budget for the finance, insurance, tax and annual service, its the things that hit you when you least expect it on cars like this that could quite easy tip you in serious financial deepwater.
On the other shoulder, you only live once mate, finance yourself to the t1ts and let someone else worry about it when you leave this world, clutching at photos of the 911 you once owned!! That's how I've been justifying the Noble idea anyway!
-
My boss just traded his in for an R8, think I prefered the Aston though
-
Hmm not sure about that mate - unless its some 0% interest for 3 years or something at the dealers - my personal experience - I will never take finance on a car ever again - always get a personal loan or better still save up the money !
Yeah this is my line of thought, obviously the more I can put in myself the better in the long run. Got myself a family owned Polo as a run around so some cheap motoring for a while cant be a bad thing then readdress the purchase around Xmas when hopefully some deals are to be had.
-
I know as a buyer I would be put off slightly, in the same vein as if the car showed up as a cat d or recovered stolen despite assurances. The rate i'm getting on a specific car finance is better than i'm getting on a personal loan or secured loan against mortgage, dont really want to be adding to my mortgage with the current climate.
-
Folks, I've got a question about the ins and out of car finance.
The cars I've been looking at will probably require a few extra pennies. I've been given fairly reasonable finance quotes but i'm worried that the finance is attached to the car and if I decide to sell before the term is up then its something that'll show up on HPi as having outstanding finance, despite the fact I'd always use the sale to cover the finance left. Its a bit of a grey area for me as i've only ever gone down the personal loan route for financing in the past.

Can pretty much guarantee I'll see 2 or 3 a day walking to and from work. Think someone on here has AAN reg? See that heading towards Union Street, another GM parked at Albyn Hospital, red one parked just off Union Grove, azure on the same road as my work (DOL reg).

G'day.....again
