  1. Type of car does influence - for example, the Honda S2000 is a huge risk, generally because most drivers of the car don't realise what will happen if you hit the vtec when going round a bend. Many many written off cars - so this in particular is a high risk car.

Classic Impreza's are also considered high risk because of the amount of car you get for the money - It also became clear that because of the lower value - some drivers view them almost as disposable cars, this is obviously a huge concern to insurers.

"Crews putting Honda's into hedges" might be something that IS considered by insurers when they decide their rate for this car.

    Many thanks

  2. Hi y'all,

I'm really sorry for missing the Brighton meet - I would have loved to have attended. I have one very good excuse and then one very bad excuse too...I had fatal case of manflu (Bad excuse!) - but on the same day I ran 10k Warrior Adrenaline Race (think a softer version of tough mudder) - Raised a lot of money for charity but a shame they fell on the same day.

I'm not the biggest fan of trade stands, I like walking through the events and meeting everyone without the pretence of the 'hard sell' - But I will see you all this summer, not just professionally, but personally I want to come and meet and get to know the 350z and the owners. I'm now into my 3rd month of Z ownership and am really taken by the car. For those who don't know, my car history is heavily influenced by the forced induction jap cars from the 1990-2000 era - the 350z,frankly makes most of the older cars look like toys by comparison.

  3. Put that you have owned the car for the same amount of years as the Z then it will drop.

If you have had the car longer the cheaper the insurance (Rule of thumb).

No, put the length of time you have actually owned the car, not something made up.

  4. I have had this argument before with insurance companies, they say it has to be factory spec, but I got slammed with an extra £50 on my premium because I had put a different set of wheels on my MX5, ok they were white but they were a ltd edition wheel so they were actually factory spec. Just be careful should you want to change your Knob (gear that is) to something non factory spec!!

If they were factory fitted then your car would have left the factory with them.

Ekona's answer is all you need.

  5. I just wanted to say that I have just spoken to Robert at Sky Insurance, who was very pleasent and gave me a great price for insuring my Saab 9-5 Aero, will certainly use them when I insure my Z in the Spring.

Good to hear and thanks for the feedback.

  7.

In a situation like this with an unhappy customer we would manually have a letter sent out stating the number of ncd years gained from the previous proof of ncd sent in and in additional the years gained with us. I'm sure they can do this as I'd imagine your request isn't an unusual one.

This is how we do it as well.

  8.

I would recommend SKY to insure your pride and joy or at least five them a call before you make any decisions.

    Happy happy.

Many thanks for your custom and feedback , feel free to PM me at anytime if you have any queries.

    Kind regards

  9. I am bias of course as I work here but I've said it before and I'll say it again, as a Jap car enthusiast insuring two of my own Japanese Imports and seeing how the company in question deal with claims, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any fellow enthusiast, in my opinion Chaucer are the cream of the crop.

  10. Most insurers recognise maximum NCB at 5 years, the majority will count up to 9 years. After maximum NCB is reached, there is no further discount to apply, whilst you may have driven for 20 odd years claim free, this is not really the same as having 20 years NCB.

I would advise going back to your insurer before Aviva and ask them to confirm your NCB, they will still have this on record and you can use it for a 2 year period with most insurers.

    Cheers
