  1. Hi All, Looking to share my major upgrade to the 350z audio installation. Firstly i have a 2007 Irish 350z with Factory BOSE installed. I have started the physical build of the housing for the 7 x Sub's and completely stripped out the rear plastics + misc items to get measured up for the enclosure. i come from an IT background and know very little about audio installs but plan on picking it up as i go. I have loads of questions and hope that someone will be able to help. . 1) Required - 7 x 8" subs - (Any brand recommendations / product?) 2) Appropriate Amplifier to power 7 subs (Will this power the speakers based on questions 3 and 4) 3) Advise on whether to replace / upgrade or remove speakers behind seats? 4) Advise on whether to replace / upgrade or remove door speakers. 5) Headunit advise - looking for DVD touchscreen with pre-amps (possibly sat nav) mp3 / IPOD interface etc. I've just got a new parrot car kit with IPOD connevtivity that doesn't interface with the BOSE so hoping to reuse with new headunit. (its the parrot nki9100) I would also really lick to retain the steering wheel controls if possible. 6) Battery upgrade - should this be required and what should i buy? 7) Sound deadning - Dynamat comes to mind but can i buy this in bulk in the UK or perhaps someone might know somewhere in the Ireland? 8) Wiring and cooling for the amp - i plan on mounting a number of fans to cool the amp but not sure what way would be best for air circulation, i'll post a diagram of this along with the box unit i'm getting built. I plan on basing my design and end result on this masterpiece. http://www.my350z.com/forum/audio-builds-496/261867-nitrouzs-project-alyssa-audio-portion-complete-crappy-pics-inside.html I will keep this thread updated regularly and would appreciate any help you can provide and comments on my upcoming work. I hope to have to build completed by the end of January at the latest. Happy new year Russ
  2. Hi, Really need help here! Have just got the Z back and gear selecton although slightly better is still crap going from 5th to 6th... The gear stick slides to far right when moving from 5th the 6th and i have to move slightly left to get it down into 6th which leads me further to believe that this part i've found is supposed to prevent going from 5th straight into reverse as mentioned by 3FIDDYZ. Does anyone have a microfiche of this area so i can get this sorted as Nissan are really starting to P** me off. I want my Z back to its normal glory. I'd really appreciate some more feedback if possible please? Thanks Russ
  3. Hi All, My Z is still with Nissan, They cannot identify the part More pictures of part are here http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.armstrong/My350zS# Can anyone identify this part for me, a part number perhaps? I'm stuck in a Qashqai until they find out ... help me please Thanks Russ
  4. Thanks... The piece in the picture is aluminium though. i'll try upload a side profile. Does that ring any bells as to what it could be.? going to nissan shortly to leave the car in so would appreciate any quick replies. Thanks Russ
  5. Added a link to the picture?
  6. hi all, Just got my 2007 new model Z back from the dealer after complaining about a noisy clutch. They ended up replacing the clutch and a bearing set in the gearbox so bout parts were removed and then new clutch and bearings and returned to me. Since i got the car back the i noticed initially that gear selection was difficult especially when going slow. A few days later i started to hear a rattle from the gear lever which was as if something was loss. I decided to take off the gator and gear knob and take a look. This part... The image i attached. It was sitting on the top of the gear lever and just didn't fit. Anyone know what part it is? http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.arm ... 2746625362 I've taken it out and reassembled and the noise is gone so confirmed that was the problem. However the stiff gear changes remain. Car is due in dealer tomorrow but i'd like your input before i go ahead again with this if they are well off the mark with this part? Cheers RussMan
  7. Glad your enjoying yours Roast350z! So what im getting here is stay away from decats and hiflows... whats the point if i'm going to lose torque.. I assume the HP figures increase majorly if torque is lost at such a high level... I see no advantages from what people are saying in this thread.
  8. Cheers... i'm very happy. Had the JWT single Pop Charger on my last Z and it was great but the tone is totally different with the Dual's. I've made a few recordings but my girlfriend is laughing her ass off so i'll have to wait and do some when i'm out on my own. Need to think of the next few mods now as itchy feet. Thinking decat / sleeper exhaust... Any recommendations? Thanks russ
  9. well here you go... hope you like it! going out now in a few minutes to do a video which i'll upload later on. Car actually sounds like an american muscle car now i'm very impressed so thanks JWT and Tony who fitted it for me http://picasaweb.google.com/russell.armstrong/My350zS
  10. I was thinking of buying Dual JWT's for my new Z but would be interested in your opinions on the sound.... audio clip perhaps? Performance benefits? Thanks Russ
