  1. I'm no mechanic, but I understand that the slave cylinder is what you operate via the clutch pedal and opens the clutch. If it doesn't retract fully the clutch operates as if your foot were on it permanently, slipping it. This increases wear. Its a fault basically, and no-one would expect a manufacturer to admit that its a known fault as it would open the flodgates, which is why we're having to take the matter to court. If 'Trev the Rev' would like to pm me we'd be fascinated to talk to him - maybe we'll get a class action going here !
  2. Treat a lambswool mitt as you (or the wife would) a lambswool sweater - gentle soap flakes, hand wash, drip dry. Synthetic mitts of all types can go in the wash, on a 40 degree setting, but no tumble dry - surely you're not in such a hurry ? I got a lambswool one from Race Glaze at £9.99, which is superb, and is wool both sides. I upgarded from a simulated (i.e. fake) sheepskin one from them at about £6 which is now for my wheels - thats still fully intact after 2 years. I do like their products and personal service.
  3. The problem with 'clean and feed' products is one part is designed to remove oily stains and grease, the other is designed to add lanolin and suitable oils - so one product cannot perform a best of breed function for both aspects. It is going to be a compromise. I would recommend a kit of 2 products, and the Race Glaze Leather Care Kit at £19.99 contains 2 separate gentle products plus brush and applicator whihc all works a treat on my cream leather seats. I cleanse annually, feed twice a year. See www.raceglaze.co.uk
  4. One of my friends has been through 3 clutches in 10,000 miles, and has commissioned an engineer who found that the clutch was permanently loaded, hence casuing premature wear. He's a car nut, the car is pristine, never tracked. Nissan say its down to driver abuse, we differ. Does anyone else have any similar experiences ? Please feel free to PM me if you want to keep this off record.
