  1. THE CAR IS NOW SOLD.

I'm extremely pleased that the first genuine enquiry resulted in a viewing and sale. I was on the brink of deciding to keep the car for another couple of years as I'm only going to buy another toy and if I hadn't been out of the country this past week with work I would have removed the ad. I was sick of people calling me up asking 100 questions then asking if I'd take £11k......

I think the buyer will be joining the forum and the car will stay in the community thankfully. I love that car so I'll be back to check up on it! :teeth:

Onwards... trackday car suggestions anyone? Criteria: Lightweight, rear wheel drive, ~200bhp/tonne, not going to cost the earth in brakes and tyres or repairs should I drop it in the kitty litter. I have another car to be sensible in so currently top of the list is a Caterham Roadsport.

  2. I meant to ask, has it been lowered using what ? :D

Good point - Eibach springs. Forgot about that

I've had quite a few interested people call me up since I've revised the price, but everyone keeps changing their minds on when they want to see it!

At this rate I'll still have it in a few months, although that may not be a bad thing as I went out for a drive with a few friends at the weekend to try their cars to guide me on what next to buy. The drive home in the Zed was still great fun!

  3. Thanks guys. Anyone that sees the car will hopefully agree that it is in good condition for it's age and mileage and they appreciate the benefit of the 'sensible extras' over a non-Nismo car.

The interesting thing is, the longer the ad stays live and the more people I talk to about it in salesman mode - the more I want to just keep it!

  4. When you go to a place to have your geo done they should have all the settings in the machine, but just in case:

350z, 18" wheel (better systems automatically compensate for different wheel sizes by taking measurements when rolling the car back and forth).

    Rear Axle

    Camber -1°35' ± 0°30'

    Toe 0°05' ± 0°02'

    Total toe 0°09' ± 0°04'

    Setback 0°00'

    Geometrical driving axis 0°00'

    Axle offset 0°00'

    Front Axle

    Camber -0°35' ± 0°45'

    Caster 8°10' ± 0°45'

    SAI 5°05' ± 0°45'

    Toe 0°02' ± 0°02'

    Total toe 0°05' ± 0°05'

I've been told by lots of people in the past that it's best to go to a place that uses Hunter alignment systems. They can be found on http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/.

  5. Thanks everyone, I'll be very sad to see the car go :( But Hopefully bigger and better things await (still haven't decided what will replace the Zed).

I'd love to see it go to another forum member, the car has never missed a beat over the last ~30k miles that I've done in it and I'm sure that will continue!

Any inspection welcome, I can provide the RAC inspection info from when I had the car inspected before I bought it.

I am a bit reluctant to sell my pride and joy, but it's a crime for me to keep driving it to work every day and keep racking the motorway miles up.

  7. What do these days concentrate on / teach you would you say?

    End result? Quite tempted..

It depends on what you're looking for as there are courses tailored to different needs.

I practised limit handling with Don Palmer at Millbrook Proving Ground and advanced road driving with Hugh Noblett.

The time with Don was spent doing things like practising lines, smoothness (car balance), vision, threshold braking, steering, etc all whilst going fairly rapidly (for me at least - when he got behind the wheel I was gobsmacked by how fast he could go in total confidence).

The road driving stuff with Hugh was spent practising the sort of stuff you'll find in the Roadcraft Police driver book. It helps you to keep a sensible pace up whilst increasing the safety of you and the others around you. Hazard perception / anticipation and subsequent altering of your position, speed, gear, etc.

  8. I'd have your wheel alignment checked properly before buying anything. As something might be waaaay out of whack. Make sure you get both primary and secondary angles measured against the OEM spec (things like steering axis inclination, included angle, scrub radius, thrust angle, etc over just the usual toe, camber, caster, etc).

People seem to recommend places that use Hunter alignment systems, you can find your nearest on http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/.

  9. I really like, Daaaave's one!

good lighting, composition and other stuff!!

    Adam

Cheers, my car is uber filthy at the minute so I need to get it polished up again and ready for another shoot in a more interesting location.

  10. I love them and the owners car!!

    She's mine.

It's weird to see photos of your car that others have taken. Good job the photos weren't much closer, I washed the car in a jetwash near Chester after the brilliant drive up the day before and ended up with lots of watermarks and general crap by the time I got to the services. :headhurt:

  11. How many buy a ZED for fuel economy reasons?

The number of threads that continue to pop up on the subject amaze me - I think of nothing more tedious than driving it with a pussy foot  . When I turn the key on the ZED it is to enjoy what it does best :teeth: .

When I want fuel econmy I get in the wife's Jazz. ;)

I didn't buy it for the economy, but on the ultra boring schlep to work I don't see the point in trying to overtake everyone all the time. I'd just be following other cars doing 80 and it would be more stressful rather than just relaxing. When I'm on more fun roads - you just try to stop me! ;)

  12. Its very noticeable when painted areas or very smooth road is around, especially in the wet. Talked to Ebized about it recently in fact after the Hoon. We were discussing the + or - of tractiion control over the tops.

I am not a particularily hard driver buit it gets interesting sometimes.

At least you dont have that bloody bridge for a backdrop for this years calendar ;)

The feeling I'm talking about never gets as far as ESP coming on or slight opposite lock. I never have to do anything to correct or counter it as it's not that severe, just a slight tweak through the arse of my seat.

  13. No white paint or smooth tarmac on this one Daaave honest

    http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... ight=wales

    Get yourself along ;)

    :teeth:

Yeah, it's funny really as it's not a massive thing but as I slowly learn more about car handling I'm getting more tuned in to tiny little foibles with cars in general. My twichyness of the rear end on smooth tar in the wet is only something I've noticed - my passengers never comment even when asked directly. But I'd love to compare it to another Zed on 17s or 18s over the same piece of road. ;)

  14. 33mpg? Where can I get one of those diesel Zeds? :teeth:

Well take it with a pinch of salt, that's what's shown on the display. I need to check it between fills.

It should be a good comparator though, I've gone up about 5mpg with more restrained driving.
