  1. ....................... dunno, i might be , ive had itnow for 6months and im starting to look at other cars on the market , ive already been in bmw to look at nearly used m5's or the new 3 series coupe , ive been to audi to try and get a test drive on a new rs4 - impossible by the way , theyll only give me a go in a bog standard a4

i think im starting to lose interest in the car i was drooling over only alf a year ago , ive stopped cleaning it by hand and just drive in to the local valet place, i dont really care where i park it nowadays , the shite interior which i was happy to live with only a short while ago -is now starting to make the zed not a very good place to sit in.

then the final straw came , i booked the car in to fix/tighten the handbrake cable-and i was excited about what car they would lend me, i knew it was going to be slower than the z , but i was still exited about driving a new car :scare::scare::scare::scare::scare::scare:

the zed was my first car ever , and i dont know if this hapens with all owners of their cars or am i just the odd one out ?!?!?

Wait, what, you had a brand new 350z as your first car?

How old are you? Were you just slow getting into this driving lark or did your father buy your car for you or soemthing?

No disrespect but I do wonder, anyone who works hard and pays that kind of money for a car really wouldn't be bored after just 6 months.

yes was my first car , im 25 now though and have spent the last 7 years busting my ass at uni- and my job now pays alooooooooooooooot

Then how can you be bored? Most peoples first car is a piece of crap; a 1.1corsa or fiesta or the like. You went straight into a 300bhp, RWD sports car, most people would give their right arm to be as lucky as you. Surely as your first car which you've worked hard to pay for you should be a lot more appreciative? Or is that just me?

I really echo these thoughts, my first car was my dead grandmothers Hillman Avenger 1300 and I have steadily worked up my cars.

It happens to everyone in any car that over time you get used to the power, my old boss had an RS4 (the TT version not the new V8) tuned to 550bhp after 6 months he said it was not as exciting anymore and that is with 550bhp.

Also, power is not everything, the Z has a sweet chassis and balance, in my opinion it would be very easy to move to another car and then really miss the Z.

So, so don't rush into anything.

  2. Morning,

I have been searching through the threads about brakes but I was wondering if there was any definative advice.

I do two or three trackdays a year and since going to the 'Ring last year fully intend on going again this year.

However, my steed has changed and I now own a shiny Zed.

Can I just upgrade pads and fluid to cope with the Zed's weight or do they need a full big brake upgrade.

I am hoping that I can be pointed toward some decent pads as I don't think I do enough trackdays to warrant the expense of a big brake conversion but I would welcome thoughts from any who have tracked their Zed's.

My main concern is being half way round the ring and running out of brakes as its a long way to nurse a car round.

  3. when i go in June, I think I'm going to get a taxi ride in it first.

Also possibly helpful to play a videogame with the track that's been accurately represented in it, to have a feel of it.

Does GTR2 have the Ring as a track?

If you want to get a taxi ride you need to book well in advance as it is in great demand.

Your other option is to turn up on the day and hope someone drops out and you can get their place.

It is a great thing to do, I have not done it myself but have been behind a taxi as first it came powering past and then started drifting round the corners, then it powered off into the distance.

  4. I went there last October when I had my VX220 turbo, as others have already mentioned it is an amazing place and unlike any other race track anywhere in the world.

The thing that always makes me smile is that any track day in the UK you will have a 30 min safety briefing etc etc, at the ring you turn up, pay for a lap and go, no one will talk to you at all and all the marshals are looking for is that you car is road worthy.

    We stayed at www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de

Really nice clean place good showers, right by a good watching corner and a 10 min walk from the town.

If its your first time, just take it easy, personally I treated it like trackdays in the UK, if there is a bugger on your bumper just let him past, don't go racing anyone and just keep a clear space around you and you should be fine.

I only had one 'moment' second lap and it started pouring with rain and in the section of left right curves just after the main straight the offside rear wheel touched the curb, the back of the car swung round really quick and I almost binned it, luckily I caught it, things settled down and I did the rest of the lap with my heart pounding in my chest and I really was not going that quick.

Have plans to go again this year and I have been wondering how the Z will cope in regards of brakes and what sort of upgrades might be needed, the VX being so light was completely fine as standard.

I would say definately go and just be careful, take it at your own pace.

Also, for those who love GT4 and the like, apart from giving you an idea of which way the corner goes next it is nothing like the real thing and the way the track goes up and down.

You also need to be prepared to get totally wasted by local Germans in rust heaps who will pass you like your standing still.

  5. March is good - I'll be back in the UK then.

Saw a nice Z in SF yesterday - might have been Brickyard colour, but I think it was more "brown" than that. Roadster, nice wheels.

Seen another white one with what looks like 20" wheels. Seen loads of corvettes and mercs etc. but only 2 Zs (pronounced Zeeez) :)

I am away in Feb too, so March would be much better (Spending a month in NZ :yahoo: )

I know I am a new owner and new to the forum, but I live in Newbury, so Reading is 20 mins down the road for me.

  6. You reckon?, I doubt it, plus you wants a Gayman when you could buy an older 911 instead

It's not that easy a comparrison to make, I had a 3.2 Carrera Sport for a while and every time it went into the garage I was looking at a 4 figure bill and it was never anything major that went wrong, I sold it becuase of the running costs.

As for the CSL, it is lighter, it has 70 odd more bhp and trick tyres, no wonder its a bit quicker.

  7. I have a sony K800i and I really like it, decent battery life, decent camera, straight forward menu system, the only thing that gets me is typing txts, coming from many Nokia's where space is on the 0 key, on the sony its the button to the right of that and I press the 0 every time which promtly gives you a message of word not recognised. :)

They even do a james bond special edition of the K800 if your feeling flash as well as poo brown colour ;)

  8. Well ... it is funny you mention that, because the Nissan Titan in US has a V8 5.6 but only makes 305 bhp so not really worth the extra cylinders...

Would it not b worth looking at how tuneable the engine is and I wonder how much torque it produces?

surely the biggest restriction in engine swaps is actualy engine bay space, things seem pretty tight in there already

  9. I have been on Pistonheads for a few years now, as already mentioned it was initially for TVR's and has since expeanded to cover all cars.

As far as I am aware they create more forums when they percieve there are enough interested people, so first ther was just Japchat, now there is a Honda section as well and if there are enough people who solely want to talk about Nissan's I am sure they will create a Nissan section.

Have to be careful though, they created a VX forum and its dead, only a few posts per month, but then they are competing against a entirely dedicated VX220 forum.

The same would be true for 350z's

  10. A new member as of this coming Saturday, pick up a Gun metal 350z with rays and GT pack.

I was running around in a VX220 Turbo, but as my only car it was just getting a little too impractical, plus in this colder weather it was quite cold in the car as the heater is crap, so time for a change.
