  1. Yep thanks again mate. Also I'm pretty decided on a Nismo exhaust system and JWT Pop Charger, the combo does sound rather good, the Janspeed K1 System seems to offer a good noise also, especially for the price, although I'm sure the quality of the system will reflect, especially when in comparison to the Nismo.
  2. Cheers mate! I'd definitely be looking at putting a double din unit in place of the Bose system, something along the lines of touch screen with integrated ipod/dvd/sat nav - I had a Kenwood 7029 I think it was in my scooby and it was fantastic. Will have to look into how tricky it is to install one of those in a Z now.
  3. Original post edited. Cheers cookiemonster for the info!
  4. Yep been in the FAQ and searched around, some stuff answered thus far, however, I'm not sure if I'm not being specific enough with the search function but I've spent hours trawling through various pages upon pages of posts, struggling to find a few things so I thought I'd enquire here also.
  5. Well......some years ago I joined this forum with a view of buying a Z, possibly a MY06 GT Coupe, well things changed and I ended up getting a MY07 Impreza STI Hawkeye which I fiddled and fettled upto 420bhp/450lb/ft, needless to say it was a beast and I loved it! My circumstances changed and I sold the car to put monies towards a house, which left me with my run around, piece of turd, Vauxhall Astra 1.8 Bertone!! Now things have settled, I want a Z, inparticular a GT Roadster. I'm looking at spending around the £12500 mark and will want it in either Blue or Black. Looking at Autotrader/Pistonheads I seem to be able to grab an 05/55 plate at a stretch for my money. Now you have the background, I have a few questions that I'm hoping a few knowledgeable members could assist me with..... Can anyone recommend places to visit for service work in the North East of England as I doubt any local dealers are much kop? Am I correct in thinking that I could expect upto 400 miles per tank at around a £65 fill up? If anyone fancies letting me know what they get per tank feel welcome! With regard to modifications I'd be interested in exhaust/induction/rear wing additions.....I'm aware of the Z Store online, however, what other online/local retailers come recommended for the mentioned parts? Cost and reliability being the obvious key areas. Leading on from the last point....what local tuners of 350Zs are available in the North East? Any comments on standards and reputations would be good. Do members believe that the standard BOSE stereo in GT Models is adequate or do the majority upgrade, if so what components are common place for upgrades? Thanks in advance to anyone that responds to the rather large amounts of questions I have asked there. Cheers Greg
  6. But one is a Boxter True, although in the right hands it would easily be able to tackle a 350Z..... Not saying I'd have one mind as I really don't like the car and the image that goes along with it, I'm just saying that both cars have good performance across the range. G
  7. Looking at all of the performance figures between the Z and the Boxter S, there is no way either car can destroy the other, well especially not in a straight line. I love the Z and will be picking one up in the next week or so but with some realism thrown into the equation, I don't for one second think that I'll be showing up and Cockster S. End of the day both are excellent cars with good performance. G
  8. Actually whilst we are on about pub talk car stats, what kind of cars would a 350Z MY06 model be able to beat in a straight line, say whilst on the move not standing starts? Or alternatively what cars have you 'done' in a straight line? All on a private road of course. G
  9. I didn't think it was too bad either. Thanks G
  10. Yeah I've got both parents on the quote, brought it down by something silly like £500. Cheers G
  11. As I'm about to buy a Z I'm just checking up on various insurance companies, I know this will have been done to death I'm just wondering if anyone has similar details to me and if so whats your premium and who are you with? I'm 23 3 years NCB 6 years Driving Looking to get a 2007/56 plate Z coupe(296bhp) Value £25000 3 points on licence for an SP 30 Best I've had so far is £960 from Elephant............... Any responses are appreciated as always. Cheers G
  12. As I mentioned I'm going to ring tomorrow and see if I can get him down to £25K, anything less would be a bonus but I doubt it. I'm just trying to collate some ammo to tell the dealer to try and get some cash off, so far I have: the fact that its a demo, possibly ragged the fact that they were going new for £27.5K not so long ago satnav and gold calipers are not optional extras on this model as satnav was most likely installed for free and finally the fact that it is a MY06 model which has now been superceded by the MY07 model (thanks to a forum member for that one ) If anyone else has anything else that I could say to the dealer to knock some cash offthen any suggestions would be greatfully welcomed....... Thanks again to all that have contributed so far! G
  13. Front end refurb, as in stone chips, scratches etc? I had a good look around and it was as new, not a mark in sight. Yeah I think it was just the back end of the MY06 models that had the satnav thrown in, as you said probably to shift them for the revised model. Thanks again G
  14. Cheers for that Jacko. As I also go on the other popular Z forum, I have just been told there that the price of £25750 is still too high for that mentioned Z. apparently satnav was also thrown in for free on late 56 plates to sell them. i've been advised to shoot for £24500, I also didn't know that they were selling them for new last year at £27500 G
  15. Right been to the dealer and booked a test drive for saturday I had a good talk with the salesman in there about a 2007/56 plate Z with the GT pack and satnav, brembo gold calipers etc It was on the court for £27603 It has 400 miles on the clock, its been used as a demo car and has had 4 test drives in total, its in Azure Blue. I got a chunk knocked off immediately down to £26500 and I think I'll be able to get down to £25750 judging by what the salesman said. What would you lot think of a 56 plate GT with sat nav and 400 miles for the total of £25750?? I've got a buyer for my current car thats wants to buy this friday as well Can anyone tell me what price you are looking at for a set of standard discs and pads on the Z? Also what time span are you looking at for pads and discs? Also as it has in built sat nav does that mean that I cannot change the standard radio or is the satnav completely independent from the double din radio? Finally I was sure that a 2007/56 plate Z had 300bhp, they seemed to think that it had 280bhp? Thanks for any replies! G
  16. Yeah, at the end of the day I'll be handing over a decent chunk of change so a dealer will most likely be the way I'll be going, although getting an 06 model may stretch the budget G
  17. Just a bit of progress made on what decisions I'm coming to with a few more questions in there: Model wise I'm hoping to net an 06 plate with all of the new revisions, so hopefully that will fall within my budget. What are peoples opinions about buying from a dealer or buying private? Obviously the car will come with its 3 year dealer warranty anyway so what is the real main advantage with buying from a dealer? ie when buying from a Network Q dealer at Vauxhall you get 12 months network Q warranty plus a 3 year warranty if you get me. With the new model Z coming out, how have the prices of the current Z fluctuated? Finally I'd be changing the standard alloys, I know quite a few members have gone with 20", what are peoples opinions on this? I'm quite amazed that they fit ok actually, is there some modification to the arches to accomodate 20" rims? I'm guessing the majority go for 19"? I've seen some stunning examples of alloys on the Z so far, with the rear having a huge lip, for such alloys I'm guessing you would be looking at £2000. Thanks again G
  18. Thanks again lads! I think I'm 100% sure an exhaust system will be on the Z within the first few weeks that I get it. G
  19. I know what you mean about listening to sound/video clips, they never really give a true representation of the sound created. The price isn't astronomical to be fair, I've been looking at systems for Monaro's before I came here and you can pay £2000 for a system there no problems. So if its anything under £750 then I'd accept it, do many ststems come up for sale second hand on this forum? Very generous of you to offer, I may take you up on it once I've definitely decided on getting a Z. Cheers G
  20. I've been trying to find some clips of a Z with a Nismo exhaust and then a Z with the hi-flow cats and the Nismo to try and hear the difference but haven't found anything yet. I think this would be the way I'd go though so that the system benefits the most, just as long as its not mentally loud then all should be good. G
  21. Cheers Martin, I'd probably be up for that if its the cheapest a system can be sourced for. Thing is when you look in the group buy section or the for sale section you get about another 10 ideas of what you want to do with your car, its a disease! I've done it with every car I've owned, looks like the Z will be no different. G
  22. Thanks again for all of your replies lads! bigphil, I'll be giving you a call when the time comes to start modifying the Z, I'm not exactly sure what all of the most popular parts are yet but I'd be interested in an exhaust system with some hi-flow cats, induction system and some cosmetic alterations in the form of a rear wing and maybe a carbon fibre bonnet. So far the Nismo exhaust seems to be the most popular but I do like the sound of the Apexi N1 and the Blitz Nur Spec Touring and the Obayashi (Styleking K). I've also heard quite a bit about the Plenum Spacer and the Popcharger. I'm guessing with any of the above exhaust/induction combos you won't go far wrong? Off to a dealer today anyway to have a talk and see what the score is, if anyone on here had upto the £24k mark, what model/year Z would you be going for? Thanks again G
  23. Thanks again Trev! Yeah, I just got some info on the extended warranty issue, looking around the £500 mark for an extended 2 years, which to be fair isn't too bad. I'll be looking into the RAC cover as well, thanks for that. It seems that bigphil is the man to contact, I'll have to do that soon, I'm sure he will be glad to hear from me when I bombard him with questions. G
  24. Right, done a morning's worth of searching, trawling through hundreds of threads and have so far found: The service schedule and costs - P1, P2, P1, P3, P1 etc The main faults - Clicking axle and notchy 4th and 6th gear changes The most popular insurance companies seem to be: Adrian Flux, A-Plan, Bell, Admiral or from Elephant. The fuel consumption seems to level out at around the 22mpg mark, £60/70 gives anywhere between 350-400 miles depending upon driving style. If anyone can answer any of my questions that are still unanswered it would be much appreciated, going through all these threads take some time Thanks in advance. G
  25. Oh right, cheers Trev! I'll bear that in mind when I'm at the dealers. G
