  1. Worth every penny guys....only realized it after having it fitted...on full load and above 4000rpm sounds amazing.... B):yahoo:

On motorway speed and 3000rpm its a bit annoying....but then again mine is a soft top...so i just put the hood down! :p:lol:

+1 ^^ first thing I did to the zed with th HR engine... amazing sound & looks B)

  2. Hello

A lot depends on budget and ofcourse your personal preference as ^^^ lots of useful info in this site.

Personally we bought a UK car at the time as we were going for new and was the GT pack as that gives leather interior which was another box ticked

Uk cars are also slightly different to JDM models. There's a good mix of nice cars on this site for sale so enjoy the learning curve.

  3. I don't think it really matters how you wash the car, swirls are inevitable but obviously a good wash routine will help with the occurance of swirls.

Dont agree, you can avoid swirls.... wash with 2 bucket method 2wash mits, 1 for upper & 1 for sill areas. using good products open end hose to rinse which will take most of the water off if the cars waxed, pat dry with waffle weave towel, last touch to finish .. etc.. etc etc....

Our night blue zed now 2 years old & 20k doesnt have swirls at all (did when it was new from dealer mind!!) just corrected it all in the first week & have looked after it ever since ..... B)

  4. If they are foam stuff you should just wash them... dont use them again as they are as the polish etc will have gone off and hardened, which could scratch the paintwork next time you use them. Also you should have a different applicator for each product... you don't want to be using a pad that has had a course polish on when your using it for wax :scare:

Usually wash mine in water with washing up liquid, rinse well & leave to dry.

Also if you use any micro fibres or polishing towels or the like machine wash them without conditioner

  5. I think you may find that the 08 cars have the very uprated air intakes with the velocity stacks built in.

The panel filters actually perfom better on the HR than any of the cone type CAI's

If I were to go any I would be looking at the Pop Chargers with the velocity stacks built in. I did have a typhoon but the filter isnt great (even though the rest of the kit is very nice) and this is dyno proven that the pop is a better filter design.... The PC does come with a type of heat sheild though...

Stillens look quite nice with the enclosed box but cant rememember of they have VS.

    Mark

Now then, this is getting confusing... am I right that some cold air intakes have velocity stacks and some dont.. might seem a daft question but which bit is the velocity stack of the intake? and the standard boxes have them yes?

Maybe I just go for the panel filter & take Marks advice & try the Dyno route.. would be interesting to see any difference.. the car has the Nismo cat back exhaust so would be good to see what the power is in any case.

  6. K&N also do a duel intake for the Zed. Not sure if they do the full typhoon in the duel though which is good against heat soak due to the full surround heat shield. Everyone always raves about the standard airbox though and how its the best for performance, just don't get the sound you do with the after market ones.

So if I stick the high flow panel filters in will this give the extra gains that the other intakes do, just without the noise?

  7. VQ35HR engine so need two intakes any advice as to the best to get as I'm a bit lost !

Looked at the Stillen long tube direct from them is about £315, but if I get stung for VAT its nearly as cheap to get it over here... then looked at the AEM & Wolf popcharger seem cheaper to buy any preference peeps. The only advantage I can see with the Stillen versions is that the filters are completely enclosed whereas the others seem to be exposed would they be liable to some heat soak from the engine?..... or should I just go for the Cosworth high performance panel filters in the existing boxes?

    I'm confused

  8. B*****x does that mean I have to change the badge on my van now and put a Porsche one on - they will spit at it you know! ............those pesky Chavs!

Just because its a Porker Van!:p

Hey steady on there I have a porka truck :headhurt: yea I know its ugly but tis different.. in my humble opinion the VW version is prob better especially as they do a diesel thing. So much the same the Turouag thing & the Cayenne that why would VW want to have the same cars with different badges..

... and the Panamera .. got to be one of the ugliest thing to come out of Germany :yuck:

  9. You LET your wife drive it :scare:

Dont have much choice really... cos after all it is her car  but I use it as much as I can, my reward for the cleaning I suppose  ...and I let her use my Cayenne truck for the shopping :lol:

  10. Agree with ^^^ yesterday decided to get all the bugs off the front of the zed, so wash & de bug left the front looking not what it should be so out came the machine polish gear. Ended up doing the whole front / bonnet & wing tops & a bit of paint correction to get rid of the scratches the neighbours cat had left when sliding down the bonnet.

2 types of polish 1 sealant & 1 wax & 3 hours were gone!! but it does look B) now...that is until the missus comes home in it tonight covered in bugs again no doubt

  11. Well have to say I've had 2 STi's No1 was at uk sti 53 reg with the Prodrive performance pack, reputed to be 304bhp.... the second a 06 model JDM STi twin scroll turbo etc 320bhp, The sceond was a rocket ship by comparason to the first... and the first was far quicker than the 54 reg 350z we had.

Different power delivery but once you get used to the scoob hell the're brill & will leave he zed on an A to B road, a far more focussed car in my opinion, but yes can be tiring if you just fancy a cruse.

The car above is the WR1 which is based on a re mapped STi, + other bits was built by prodrive in Ltd Nos. re mapped to 320bhp (Standard STi of that age 265bhp) but the map was such that it still had some lag early on and power was more generally spread across the range. It didnt feel as quick as the normal STi with the PPP but was, in a stightly more refined way.

All in all I used to want to get out of the wife zed & back in my scoob for the performance, but then if I was doing a 500mle road trip i'd go in the zed !!!

However now that i'm scoobless & we're in the 313ph Zed with the Nismo zorst etc its a slightly different game
