  1. How much is the GT-R supposed to be? When are we getting it? What BHP is gonna put out? Where can I buy one?

Nobody knows apart from Nissan mate, and i'm not sure even they know! 2009 has been the date put forward for release in UK, everything else is still under wraps

According to Dash - testing is finished.

  2. No they are not in the same price bracket - but what an incentive to try and move up a bracket :D

Give a choice of buying a new Z outright (and possibly sticking a novidem S/C on it), or using the money as lump payment of 65-75% of a GTR, and then paying each month - what would you do?

The smart money is probably to wait a few years a buy second hand, but the time would pass sooo slowly.

  3. I hope it will look better in the metal, that colour is not the best for showing off the lines. It reminds me a bit of the M3 bonnet bulge. The lack of rear spoiler doesn't do any favours either.

I reckon with the right bodykit, and right colour though, that bonnet may be ok

  4. Thanks for the pics. I guess the new hood design is to accomodate the new strut bar design (which probably had to be raised in the middle to fit the new engine cover), and which probably doesn't fit under the old bonnet.

  5. So you are definatly coming then? Where are you coming from when crossing Belgium?

Yes I'm definitely going. I will be driving up from Geneva. Not finalised my plans yet, so not sure which exact route I will take this time, but I will be at Spa on the 27th at the latest. Then about 8am on 29th I will cut down and across to the ring with at least 2 others, and probably stay until 30th evening.

  6. I live about 100 miles from that track. Maybe i ll pop along. Not too sure about taking the car on it dough (I ve already ridden there a couple of times on my motorcycle :teeth:)

Which track - Spa Francorchamps or Nurburgring Nordschleife? It would be nice to meet you, but you will be missing out of you don't take your car - as you should know from having ridden your bike there ;)

    Both :p

Lucky for you! If I were you i'd have a season ticket for the ring! :teeth:

Well actually, i ve done the Spa Francorchamps track with the bike (and will do next year too ;) ), and the Nordschleife i have done a few bike laps and a few laps with my previous car.

The Francorchamps track I know, but i am a complete Nordschleife nOOb (takes +50 laps before you get to know it, and i m not doing that track by bike again, way to dangerous  )

And I will come with my car, its just that i first want to see how a car track-day goes. I ve done plenty of trackdays with my bike, but then again i dont use my bike on public roads :teeth: I dont feel like crashing my pride and joy due to someone else's fault, needing to prove he is the new Schumacher.

The Marc Duez Day's are well organized, and anything that looks like dangerous driving, intimidating of other drivers, or racing - will see you quickly excluded from the event.

The Nordschleife is not something I would want to do on a bike :scare: .... but in a car :yahoo:

  8. Marc Duez (Belgian race driver) is organising another circuit day at Spa Francorchamps on Saturday 28th of October. The organisation is top notch. The cost for the event at Spa Francorchamps is 175 EURO for the full day (6x20 min sessions) or 125 EURO for a half day (3x20 min sessions).

It's a good opportunity to drive on one of the best / most beautiful circuits in the world, and with the 3 driver categories there is something for everyone.

For GF's, wives, who don't want to do the passenger thing - there is a very nice spa center in Spa  with various pools, sauna, haman, treatments etc.. so you can treat the mrs whilst treating yourself

As an added bonus, the Nurburgring Nordschleife is open to the public all day the following day, plus the Monday afternoon, so you could optionally go along, and either enjoy driving it, or just watch the vast variety of metal from one of the nice famous corners. The museum at the Nurburgring F1 track will also be open if that floats yer boat. Nurburg is 1 hour 20 mins (driving along very nice roads) from Spa.

More details here in French: http://www.marc-duez.be/testdays.html (if anyone needs help or has questions - let me know!)

I will be going, and it would be nice to see some of you there!

  9. Definitely do the brakes (meaning liquid and pads). Suspensions is a nice idea too, but don't go to hard - the ring is nothing like your typical smooth track - there are lots of bumps, jumps, and compressions.

For tyres you mean semi-slicks right - R888? Full slicks are not allowed at the ring on public days. I'd be wary of this if they are the only tyres you'll have with you... if it rains while your there, you will regret only having semi-slicks! This was the case for a lot of evo/subaru guys a few weeks back when I was there.

I'd drive the track before you think about FI, I sincerely doubt you will find yourself wishing you had more power.

  10. Myself and the Minel both have Tokico D-Spec shocks fitted with RSR Ti2000 springs. I don't know about the Minel, but I'm very very happy with mine. I imagine they would also work very well with standard springs. Since they are adjustable you can easily switch back to comfort mode, although even when setter to be stiffer than stock they are still more comfortable than stock due to the better damping. I tested them out the other week at Spa Francorchamps and Nurburgring and the improvement over stock when pushed is dramatic - coping well with the bumps and compressions of the ring, and quelling the understeer previously experienced on some of the corners at Spa. Of course the behaviour of the car will depend on the setup of the shocks. I also had to get the alignment done, since it was out after the installation.
