  1. You can do it by following the ECU reset procedure but not turning off..... I've read codes this way. It flashes up a 4 digit code in a series of flashes. The codes are all on here somewhere too......

    Very simple to do!

I can do the ECU reset, but when do the flashes start reading out the codes and how is can i understand the flashes. This sounds like the cheapest way to do it.

What was your problem in the end and did you sort it. Thanks

    Any one else tried this?

  2. Right my engine light came on and want to find out why.

Its come on before and refused to pay the sixty odd pounds just to see what the code error is.

So i just reset it as my car was working fine BUT it has come on again and a bit worried. Should i bring it into Nissan and get raped? :sly:

Is they a way i can get round this so that i dont have to pay?

    Thanks for reading

  3. i have a fullset of the falkens and they are holding up quite nicely, at the time it was another £200 for the toyo's so no brainer really :)

When the tread meats the bump in the grooves that means you have to replace them asap

and it is measured in mm

Not reached bumps in the grooves just yet, very close tho (another 1mm left)

  4. Hi all!

After a full set of Tires. I think Falkens are the best in the price range im after, but which company should a get them from to get the best deal?

Im running on Continentals at the moment and they have been great, will the the Continentals make the Falkens appear bad?

Oh and has anyone abused their tires just before getting a new set? Thinking of Turn the traction C. off and having a little fun.

    Thanks

I`m running on continentals too so I`ll be interested to hear what difference you find with the Falkens :)

Just got delievered today :yahoo: But still have a tiny bit of tread letf on my continentals. So im going to have a little play first

Continentals have been great for me stick, like anything but thats only cos i drive like a pussy. Only had it slide a few times, my back end was stepping out a bit a few weeks back but think that is due to the lack of tread.

Correct if im wrong, when checking your tread you measure it in mm right? But in your treat there is a Lump does that tell you your near the limit? So when you have level with this lump that mean your tire are in desparate need of changing?

Will keep you updated on what i think of the Falkens. But its the same with all new tires you have endless amount of grip when you get them change from a near bald set.

Continentals were to expensive for me, £367 full set Falkens is way forward.

    Thanks

  5. How many miles did you cover over the entire journey from Sunderland?

Im in Middlesbrough so miliege will be rutherly same if i went. Tyring to plan to go but it is hard trying to sort everyone to have the same time off.

Think im thinking of getting the ferry from Newcastle to the Netherlands and then a short drive from there.

  6. The car is booked in with Nissan in Nottingham (Sunwin - in Sherwood).

Best case is the fob just needs a re-sync - £43.

    New fob + resync £145(ish)

2x new fobs plus new key cut = £260(ish)

Ive warned them that i want a call if it's more than a simple re-sync so i can evaluate options. I guess the full 260 squid isn't too bad given that i will have a new key and 2x new fobs...

Ta for all the responses so far - much appreciated!

I only got one key for my car. GETTING a spare ive been put off cos of the high cost. I ended up buying a key fob and blade from ebay and getting the blade cut. Cost me under £20 for fob, blade, and key cut. Not got to the stage of programming it to the car yet.

Heard you can programme your keys to car yourself and it will save you money.

  7. Camskill is where i am going to Purchase cheers once again Phil.

    Falkens 452 it is then.

Total cost delivered is £367.20 really happy with that.

    :teeth:

Just been ringing round to get quotes on fully fitting at my local fitters. Cheapest quote i got was £30 :yahoo: like £7.50 a tire. Total cost = £397.20

Probably not relavent but when balancing the Tire weights are put on, ive seen them put on the inside otf the alloy mostly but why do some put it on the edge of the rim?

clip on weights are cheaper, just make sure you tell them beforehand you want hidden weights.

Well its £30 for value, fitting, and balancing, so im guess its clip on weights, what if they dont have hiddens ones should i just go with the clip ons? Every where else is charging me over £12 a tire.

  10. When i got my Z it didnt come with a spare key. Garage who sold me the car said it wouldnt be expensive at all. Then went into nissan and got a quote think i recall it was around the £160-£180 Mark!!!! Said No and put it off for a year.

Lost my key didnt i so @*!# myself but after a whole day of looking was layed outside in the garden. Fort to myself i should get a spare key. Searched on ebay and they selling the base and blade. They are going for less than £10!

Got mine the other week and just got it cut from the local key cutters. Some dont cut this type of blade cos they machines are old.

In total cost me £7 for key and cutting was free cos knew the fella they.

So, guess ive saved loads of money there!!!! Just need to program it to my car.

Does anyone know how to do this????

Googled it and they is a way to do it have the instructions. But not sure it it will wrk, has anybody tried it??

    Thanks

  11. Job is done there have done a good job. Will post a picture on soon.

My car sounds silent now. I must have been driving it for a long time with a small gap between the pipes because my exhaust is quiter than before. So ive gone from the noise level im use, a level down :(

    Need this Nismo exhaust!

Oh and my car seems faster now Yipee!

  12. Same happened with mine (2004). Took it to the local exhaust dealer to have it checked out and he said this was a common problem on the Z.

There is a flange connection between the back box and the piece of exhaust pipe running down the centre of the car to the engine Y section.

The flanges on these two pieces bolt together. The flange, on the back box end of this connection, had broken away from the exhaust pipe.

They cut out the complete old flange connection, made a new one from stainless and welded it in. Perfect job costing £120 if memory serves.

The back box itself was sound, just as well because a new one was quite expensive (around £300 I believe) and would have taken a couple of days to be delivered

Cool looks like ill need to get mine welded. Can you get a photo on the job, interested on what it looks like.

£120! If i go somewhere else other than the dealer surely i could get it done easily under £100??

Sorry for the delay, Ive been away. Not much good with the old computer but I'll try to get a pic posted.

Wish I hadn’t bothered taking the pic now cos its confused me. The st st bit seems to have been welded on the good end of the exhaust while the end that was damaged looks to be the original flange (which I know for sure was broken). Anyway this is the repair. Hope it helps and hope the pic size is ok as the original was to big and had to get my daughter to crop it for me.

Just got back from exhaust place. Ive been quoted 50 pounds to get it fixed.

I mentioned getting it fixed like yours but he said he is affraid that the other side would do extactly the same sometime down the line so he suggested cutting the pipe from both sides then welding it together as one.

This would be a better job. I agreed cos i dont want to pay anyone and want it finished asap.

Taking it in tomorrow morn. Will update you and post a pic.
