  1. Unfortunatley that's the current state of the market.

I took a £4k hit on the impreza from my original selling price and a huge hit from when I bought it as a 12 month old car:(, likewise the 350Z's are taking the same kind of hit :(

Granted not many 05's for £12k, but there options to get some serious discounts from traders (And private sellers a like) in the current climate. Especially when traders are only offering £9k trade ins on them.

  2. I'm after a chilli red 350z (I've sold the scoob wohoo), if anyone was thinking of selling up but was hesitant due to the current market.

Preferably 03-05 reg. (No 52 regs)

As low miles as possible, with FSH. Import or UK not bothered.

Pref with sat Nav (Jap or UK) but not that bothered.

    Manual

    Must have Brembo's.

Absolulely no scratches or dings/dents, every panel must be true.

Will only pay the current going rate, blue's,black's,silvers,GM's are going from anywhere from £9,500 - £12,000 for this kind of spec.

It will be lavished and cherised by the most compulsive car cleaner in the UK :)

The money is burning a hole in my pocket :)

    Cheers

  3. I popped in to say hi a few times but you guys most have been on walk about.

Maybe chat at the next show.

Noticed James car on the Total mag stand with girlies sprawled all over the car. Are they going to feature the car James???

Some loverly 350z's there today and a good turn out. Hopefully be adding one more to your list next year

    See you soon

  4. I was contacted by James regarding a detail on his Nissan 350Z in GM in the run up to the ISTS show at Donington Park.

After a viewing of the car and a discussion on what to do it was decided that we'd go for full exterior & interior detail with

Paint correction using DoDo Juice wax.

    Anyway.......

    Before pictures:

The wheels sprayed with Megs APC with the inside rim being agitated with an EZ- Detail wheel brush and the front of the wheel being washed with

a swissvax wheel brush and microfibre mitt.

    nissan_350z_silver8.jpg

    nissan_350z_silver9.jpg

The body was then treated to some foam via the AB foam lance an left to dwell, the arches pressure washed and sprayed with Megs Super Degreaser and then

cleaned by hand with a lambswool mitt.

    nissan_350z_silver10.jpg

    nissan_350z_silver11.jpg

    nissan_350z_silver12.jpg

The body was then rinsed and washed using a lambswool mitt and the 2 bucket method.

    nissan_350z_silver13.jpg

It was all then rinsed and dried with a Poorboys Waffle weave towel and a leaf blower was used to get the water out of all knooks and crannies.

The car on first inspection looked very clean indeed but on closer inspection the paint was rough to the touch (Something James was concerned about) and was covered in black/brown tar spots. After claying which turned out to be a nightmare due to the high content of contaminent. I concluded that the previous owner must have parked the car near a metal/iron fabrication yard.

I used yellow CYC poly clay with Megs last touch as lube and any remaining large bits of tar were then removed with AB tar remover.

    nissan_350z_silver14.jpg

Taped up and ready to go:

    nissan_350z_silver15.jpg

The paint typically showed normal levels of paint thickness of around 110-130, so there were no areas to be concerned about.

Thankfully the sun came out on occassions so I could see the extent of the swirls as the halogens weren't offering any help in this department, being GM/silver it's difficult to pick up swirls via the halpgens in daylight (Better inside for this)

So tested a panel with various combo's and finally came to a very good degree of correction using an orange waffles cut pad with menzerna 85RD3.02, x2 passes.

And a final pass to refine and finish off each panel with a 3M blue waffle pad with 3M Ultrafina SE.

This gave a crisp sharp finish and removed any holograms that had crept in with the cut pad.

This correction removed what swirls where there and the majority of the RDS, but there where a lot RDS 9random deep scratcheas) still remaining.

All done with the metabo Rotary.

    Some swirls

    After:

    nissan_350z_silver20.jpg

Today's detail was a Dodo Juice detail so we opted for a hard wax to begin with in the knowledge that James would continue a good waxing technique with the same wax from Dodo Juice.

    I opted for "Hard Candy"

So after an IPA wipe down with an MF I applied the Hardy Candy with a foam applicator and buffed off with a pure Terry towel buffing cloth. This gave an outstanding gloss to the paint.

A fantastic finish was achieved, I recon approx 90% correction was achieved on the day with the stubbern few RDS's remaining.

The rest of the car was treated to the following:

    Trim - Poorboys Trim restorer.

Tyres - Presoak with Megs Hyper dressing and finished with Autoglym's Instant Tyre dressing.

    Glass - AG glass polish

Wheels - Chemical Guys Wheel Sealant

The engine bay was given a quick clean as well as the interior

Total Detail time: Started at 08:00hrs finished at 20:30hrs = 12.5hours.

  5. Due to unseen circumstances all the zed's that put their name forward for this shoot have fallen through.

So I'm desperate to get hold of a 350Z for a detailing photoshoot for Total Nissan magazine.

It's going to be on 11th Feb (Next Monday) in Litchfield (South of Derby, North of Birmingham)

Petrol expenses will be paid for by the magazine.

If interested please PM/email me with your details and a recent picture of the car. I can breifly explain what will happen.

    Cheers

    Craig

Mods any chance leaving this here for a few days so everyone can see it. :)

  6. Hi Guys,

Within the next few weeks I will be doing a photoshoot for Total Impreza with my car with a slight twist around the detailing aspect of car care.

The guys also want to do something similar for Total Nissan.

As i am a closet lurker on 350Z-Uk (Will be buying one this year) I suggested to the magazine guys that I approach the forum to see if we can get a suitable car for the photoshoot.

So if you have a clean car (probably magazine worthy) and are around my area...Worksop, Sheffield etc etc then drop me an email with a pic.

I'm guessing the car won't be fully detailed by myself, just sections of it.

You obviously must be confortable with me working on your car too.

Like I said it will be in the next few weeks, probably during the week too.

A chance for you to get your car in a magazine.

    Plenty plugs for 350Z-UK too

    Thanks

    Craig

  7. Thanks Fella's.

Jacko -- Yes that is me :D Currently getting the car ready for this years shows.

H5 - A paint gauge is placed against the body work and it reads the thickness of the paint. Depending on how much your preparded to pay depends on it's accuracy. They can be had for around £170 off ebay. Some can cost around £500, the likes of Polished Bliss etc, sell these. Some can be as much as £2000. These top end ones measure each layer and charts it on a graph on a computer. Just do a search on google.

  8. Thanks for all the fantastic comments guys, it' much appreciated. :)

Obviously I don't want to break any forum advertising rules, but if you do want a price quoting please drop me an email.

Hopefully after an email discussion with chesterfield you guys will get even better prices :D

I mostly cover the east midlands area, but am quite happy to travel upto 2-3 hours, this will incur a travel expense though. (I have a few details coming up in the M25 area as an example)

I'm hoping to update my website gallery in the next few days...you'll see the type of work I'm capable off.

You may also know me from the show scene, I've a show winning Subaru Impreza (Red with white wheels) it's the best in the country, has adorned many magazines.

    Cheers

  9. I've been on these forums for quite some time, hoping to be a 350Z owner next year.

Thankfully courtesy of Jonathan73 I was able to detail this very fine 350Z GT4 in stunning black

The job was to carry out paint correction to remove swirls and light scratches and an exterior detail.

On inspection, swirls and scratches were very heavy, there were also some water blade scratches on the bonnet too.

After washing it was quite clear the swirls and scratches were quite fearce.

    Anyway..

    Some before pics:

    350Z_2.jpg

    350Z_3.jpg

    350Z_4.jpg

Pre rinsed with Megs Super Degreaser,

    Wheels with Megs Wheel Brightener,

Pre foamed with SSF and TFR,

    Rinsed,

Washed with Megs Shampoo plus and lambswool mitt, 2 bucket method.

Rinsed and dried with Waffle weave towel.

Tar removed with tar remover and paint surface rubbed down with Sonus Ultra fine clay,

Chemical guys Quick detailer as Lube.

    350Z_5.jpg

    350Z_6.jpg

Using a Paint thickness gauge I took readings of the whole car. Only 1 real area of concern was the bonnet which was a little thinner than the rest with an average of 100 microns. I had to take car on this panel, even though it was heavily inflicted with deep scratches.

Onto the paint correction, you can see the swirls and scratches etc in these pictures, Jonathan explained that some of them had occured from a Valeter drying the car with a tea towel :eeekkkk:

And all swirls and light scratches gone:

    350Z_13.jpg

Paint correction, was with Megs cut pad and Menzerna IP 85RD3.02 and Megs polish pad and 106FF.

I was able to reduce some of the bigger scratches, but not completely remove them as they were too deep.

Sealed with Blackfire Wet diamond all paint protection.

    Waxed with Victoria Concours wax.

    Trim - Poorboys Trim restorer.

    Tyres - Megs Endurance gel.

Arch trim - Megs Hyper Dressing,

Interior - Jeff Werkstatts Satin Protect.

    The finished result:

    350Z_14.jpg

    350Z_15.jpg

    350Z_16.jpg

    350Z_20.jpg

    350Z_21.jpg

    350Z_22.jpg

    350Z_23.jpg

I was very happy with the final results, the paint had a much deeper shine and gloss to it than previously.

    Hope you like
