  1. Well i'm relatively new to 370s.I drove 4 on test before settling for the one i bought,so my views are these;firstly test drive both manual and auto.I stupidly didn't and i regret that-not that i would have bought the auto-I settled on a manual but i think i should have at least given it a go.Let me say all of the cars i drove seemed to have exactly the same characteristics. You could easily beat the synchro on 1st to 2nd(mx5 owners know that feeling all to well). On all the cars there was an element of clutch judder. There was a very mechanical feel to the gear changes and if you weren't careful with the clutch, certainly moving off in 1st could induce some very unrefined clunks and bangs if you needed to dip the clutch again. All the other gear changes when moving are brilliant and the change is very precise. You just need to get accustomed to take care when moving off.Im guessing its the way they're built and i say that based on the brutal acceleration that comes in when you go from 2nd at 6000 revs into 3rd and floor it.The surge is awesome.and smooth and there are no complaints from clutch or gearbox at that torque going through them.Of course you also get the chattering from the transmission on tickover which disappears when you dip the clutch-also disquieting at first but all part of the unique idiosynchrasies of the car.I have to say that ,until i got used to the dynamics of the car i didn't think it was an easy car to drive smoothly and i wondered if i'd done the right thing. But i now realise that this is indeed a car which needs to be grabbed by the scruff and driven hard.It responds to that .Its not a car to be driven delicately. One final point I'd make as a newcomer and that is that the car feels incredibly well screwed together.Nothing rattles even though the suspension and ride are pretty stiff and i just feel that no matter what i do to it,i doubt i'll break it.Maybe I shouldnt have said that!!!
  2. Hi all, have now had my 370 for 6 weeks ;a 60 reg gt in gun metal bought from a 68 year old man who rarely used it.Had 4500 miles on the clock and smelt brand new.I gather every time he took it out,he washed it on it's return. And not one mark on any of the alloys.Anyway at some time shortly I'll give you my report on the car itself. Now to the point. It's too quiet. We all know that. It's odd to me that nissan give the car an almost refined exhaust note whilst all hell can be breaking out in the car with so much road noise. Two extremes.Anyway the exhaust has got to go.Have heard quite a few examples on utube but is it me-they still don't sound loud.I'm not looking to change the thing to find very little difference-did that once with an mx5 and put a power-flow on with not a huge amount of difference-and I only want a cat-back and nothing else.So those of you with replacements ,give me a % rise in noise. Is it 10,20 or 30% rise .Have seen Invidias reasonably priced and borlas which may well not be.Your feed back will be greatly appreciated.Am in the North West outside Merseyside if anyone has one fitted and will let me listen.best wishes to all,Derek
  3. Well gentlemen I've finally got my car and it has the later system with post code sat nav.got an October 2010 gt with 4000 miles on the clock-yes 4000 miles. The car is unmarked inside and out and actually smells new.All for 17.5k.Can't believe how good it is. coupla questions to ask;do I need to take the car to the stealers re the steering lock-has there been a recall on this?secondly the previous owner said that occasionely when he puts his foot on the brake to start the car ,the engine spins but doesn't catch-i think that's what he meant anyway.Anybody had a similar problem and how was it addressed?Still got a tiny bit of warranty left so may as well use it!!
  4. Thanks for that Will. The car's a private buy so I'll only know when I see it.The advert says "special editions".was that an upgraded model on the gt or is that just meaningless?
  5. Am weighing up this car with a view to buy but am unsure what I've got here.No mention of premium connect and what is the sat nav likely to be-the one which doesn't recognise post codes?Thinking I need a later car but it looks a decent buy. What it comes down to is is the 2010 spec the same as the 2011 spec? Thanks in advance for your thoughts
  6. I'm guessing that the colour Le Mans Blue was or is a discontinued colour. Was there any reason for that other than perhaps it wasn't a popular colour?Or were there warranty problems with it.I happen to think it suits the car very well and it's likely to be the colour I'll be seeking out soon.
  7. thanks all for the replies.I've spoken to Middlehurst of St Helens re the warranty concerns and wasn't reassured by what they said. They advised getting it serviced on the original due date ie 30/09 so that I can at least be seen to attempt to remedy the previous owner's deficiency.Of course I've still got recourse to the SOGA should anything go badly wrong ,against the garage I purchase from.Feeling better about it now thank you
  8. Really appreciate the welcome .Always good to get another view on percieved problems. The car is priced at £21000 and has got to be a helluva bargain given that it's pretty well unused.I've a degree of leverage given the 3rd year manufacturers warranty is effectively void because it hasn't been seviced in accordance with warranty requirements. So I'll be seeking their warranty to cover it.I am aware that these cars are pretty well bullet proof so thanks guys ,I'm feeling reassured. With regards to the insurance,I' m with LV and have few complaints. However this is where it gets complicated.I have another car a Picasso which I use for work and so have only the NCD on that car.So it would mean starting again on another policy with no NCD.Except that LV have said they will allow the full NCD on my new car whilst maintaining it on my works car. That's a good thing but they insist on a tracker as part of the policy and want £536 with no theft cover on the policy .If I get the tracker fitted, they will still charge £536 for full cover. Now I am of a certain age that Saga only want to charge £406 to cover my 370 with no tracker but they don't want to know business use on my Picasso or dual NCD.So there you have it.It might well be that I could sell the Picasso and use my wife's C4 diesel f/back but it would mean driving her to work just twice a week and then going on to do my delivery job-I only work 3 days a week.Wouldn't look good delivering stuff in a 370! but the Picasso is brilliant at it.That's not so much a problem really-it's only money. So how many of you have trackers?.What's the installation cost and monitoring charge? Thanks to all for reading all comments welcome
  9. Hello everybody,my name is Derek and I'm in the market for a 370 gt.Have read all the threads going on what to look for and I'm not entirely green when it comes to buying/selling cars. But I have a quandary.I've seen one I like very much 2 years old in Sept so it's on a 61 plate.Only done slightly less than 3 thousand miles 2 owners guessing first to be demo .It's spot on but and it's a big but,it's had it's one and only service in April of this year. That's 7 months later than it should.Have spoken to a local 370 savvy garage down the road from me and the door is gaping for them to slide out of warranty claims with ease.Do I walk away from this car?Or get the garage who are selling it to underwrite for a year(they arn't Nissan dealers) mirroring what Nissan would offer in the 3rd year?In writing of course.Any advice welcome One other thing. My current ins company are insisting on a Tracker.Have you all got trackers? The company will insure me without a Tracker but won't cover me for theft. Thanks for reading and anticipated thoughts
