  1. Guys,

Got to tell you this...I cannot believe it !

The baggage handlers at Heathrow broke a foot off my case recently which left the screws sticking out. As I could not get the case in the boot (unfortunatley it is not 2 golf bags!), I had to put the case on the passenger seat.

I arrived home in the dark and took my case out of the car.

The next day I saw that I had ripped the Leather on the base cover (the bit you sit on) with the screws.

I have just called the Nissan dealer for a price.........£1,097.32  This is just for the base cover, not the whole seat.

I am shocked and stunned !

We'll be there! (Interested to hear Jacko's stone chip issue if nothing else ;) )

Can you book 2 x Carvery as well please?

Wasn't sure about the 'confirmed' bit.

    Thanks

    Neil

  3.

    Great, Cheers for that Neil

out of extra interest maybe, I know that mine had a new Nissan fitted clutch before I had it (mine is an 04).. maybe it is just release bearing, would be simple if so , but would be very very surprised if they didn't replace the bearing at the same time as the clutch... a classic false economy case!

mine has only done just over 30k .. have you had yours from new?.. maybe there has been a replacement in yours (don't know if this is significant in any way tho')

I don't have the gear lever vibration probs..

I was thinking of changing mine for an 06 plate (mainly to avoid the hyper-road-tax post march 06 )

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on ..... thinking about it if yours is a 56 it is still in warranty ..so the garage would be more inclined to want to do work on it than not .. more money for them if they do ..

but yeh, would really like to hear how you get on !

    Cheers !

    Darren

I'll let you know how I get on Darren.

Just read an article in this weeks 'Live' Magazine (comes free with the Mail On Sunday) that James Martin has recently test drove the 350z and thinks its great, although the 'only thing that did my head in was the carbon fibre prop shaft, which made a racket like a bloody tractor every time I pulled away in 1st & 2nd gear. The noise disappeared at speed but, still, it shouldn't happen in a two-seat sports car' he said.

Now I am confused.....what is causing this annoying noise?

    And so it continues...

  4. Guys,

Tell me if I am being thick here (and I know you will :) ), but I have read this ten page string and I still do not know what to do.

I would like to attend on Sunday with the car on the 350z stand along with the wife (so it will be Neil & Kathryn on the list).

    Who do I pay?

Do I pay yourselves (if so how much for the day) or do I register on the ISTS Site (if so, where do I add that I want to park in the club area).

    Help :surrender:

    Thanks

    Nel

  5. I have the same rattle - for me it only happens after the car has warmed up - so if I turn it off straight away from cold - no rattle..

It isn't the car cooling down - that noise I get but is just the 'tink, tink...' of cooling exhaust metal ;)

I asked my dealer about this when I took it for service and they say it is the clutch release bearing .. this c o u l d be possible as .. when I press in the clutch before turning the engine off the rattle doesn't happen .. so .. I guess as the bearing is compressed - i.e. held together firmly it can't rattle ..

I did think though that it might have been the gearbox wearing .. partic as I also get a kind of whine from the gearbox .. kinda like the noise you hear from a straight cut gearbox or really old cars like a model T Ford ! .. although at a much quiteter level .. (anyone else get this ?) you can hear it only really in 1st or second as anything else above this is covered by road noise.

can anyone confirm this .. or is this common / normal .. anyone else get this or can supply a reason/answer ??

    Cheers !

    Mine does the same thing..

Nissan Dealer says it also happens on their demo car, so that's alright then!

I am going to have another go at them on the next service as I am sure it is the drivetrain or clutch. If I press the clutch the rattle stops (only when hot though), also if I can hear it more in reverse.

I am going to see if I can get them to put the modified gearbox in that eliminates the gear lever vibration on the 2007/8 models. (mine is a 56 plate).

  6.

    Neil,

The greddy kit is very nice......I've seen a lot of US pics in blue and it rocks. Liam'z also has Greddy front and sides on his I think... can't remember what he got on back. Might be speedracing....

But anyway, Greddy is quality stuff....

Just found out that I cannot get a front lip for the 2006 bumper...buggar!

I liked that as well - wasn't sure whether to put the rear spoiler on as well though?

Thanks Mark..(hope you are making progress ;) )

    Neil

  7. You sure you want the Greddy kit? :ninja:

I've heard that the greddy kit is ill fitting and cheap looking. EG chavalicious

So I am well am truly confused now...

It was hard enough to reach a decision on the Greddy kit.

What would you suggest Sarnie? I do not want to go down the NISMO route as it is expensive and I do not like the rear 'fins'.

    Neil

  8. the greddy lip uses some hardware to attach the front lip - it's quite an easy install

the skirts also use screws, and are direct replacement for the factory skirts. Again, a cinch to install ;)

    Hi Adam,

I have sent you an email asking questions (sorry).

I would appreciate it if you could reply to that please?

    Thanks

    Neil

  9. A colleague of mine owns a Type 1 (13 yr old) WRX STi wagon. They think they will beat me in my 350Z (when it arrives...) on our race home from the night shift along the deserted A505. What do you think....??

DISCLAIMER(for any old bill reading this :teeth: ): We would never, ever break any speed limits. Honest guv.

Tell him that SUBARU spelt backwards is U R A BUS ;)

    That'll shut him up

    Neil

  10. The dealership are trying to flog this paintcare package thing for around £350, supaguard or safeguard I think it is called. Anyone think this is worth the wonga??

I would personally put the money towards having the front covered by Paintshield....

  11. I believe that the optimum torque is 4800 rpm and therefore setting the gear change light to this value is recommended, however, I wonder what you guys set yours to?

4800 rpm was for an '04' plate by the way, is it different for a '56' plate? (300 bhp).

Any advice would be greatly welcomed

    One other quick question...

I want to add a front lip and side skirts - has anyone got any good suggestions to where I can buy these please? If there are any price indications that would be fantastic.

Come on Jacko...I bet you can help me here?

    Neil

  12. Its a question that often pops up - its there for people who may want to initiate a chat without clogging the forums, but people can just use ICQ or MSN messenger, its probably not used that much at all, but we keep it so that for the odd occasion when people may require it, its there.

Thanks for the sensible answer Chris..

If I may make a suggestion, I think one of the reasons why we do not use it is because we have to be logged into the Chat Room for members to contact us.

If we could send a chat request to members we see on line, similar to MSN Chat, for example, members would know that they are trying to be contacted.

Private Chat between two persons would be even better, especially if the topic is not Zed related and therefore of no interest to others ;)

    Just a thought..

    Neil
