  1. Thats wierd, Im with direct line, I am under my mums name, her first car 911 policy is with direct line, the 350z is in her name to, I am a named driver, her no claims from the 911 also contributed to the no points on the 350z, I have been under her name for 2 years now, and have collected 2 years no claims. After reading this I called direct line and asked them, they said because my mum took out no claims duplication, and no claims protection her no years claim can be duplicated to any car as long as the car is in her name  So guess its touch and go with these companies or depend who you get on the other line, we even have this in writing as I called my mum to check

That's because your mum has two cars insured with the same insurance company. Some companies (Directline is one) will allow you to use one No Claims Discount entitlement for 2 cars - It's almost like having 2 cars insured on one policy.

However, you will not be able to use an NCD on 2 or more policies if they are with different companies. Although some companies will take in to consideration your NCD currently being 'used' on another policy - in a similar way to company car drivers who may get 'credited' some NCD etitlement from their company's insurance (if they haven't made a claim) if they haven't had insurance in their own name.

  2. He's not taking a hit on depreciation asking £86,995. List price for a new 'un is £79,540.

Yeah I thought that may be the case anyway, as typically demand outstrips supply and therefore you can do this..... but couldn't be arsed looking it up! ;)

Still a bit of a poor showing having it for a few weeks. I mean, its probably just run in! He's spent probably a 1000 miles taking it easy....... then sellling it!

Where did you get that price from, for his spec is at least 97k

    From the Porsche GB website.

    How did you get £97k?

    List is £79,540 inc VAT

    Bi-Xenons £705

    Comms & Sat-Nav £1921

    Heated Seats £269

    Embossed Headrests £126

    Crono Sport Plus £380

    Tint Top Windsceen £68

    Red Seat belts £163

    Floor mats £72

    =£83244

edit: +£985 for the 'optional' Porsche Tracking system, that you can't actually order the car without.

  3. You can put it on rentention for £80 for a year. It's ten free to transfer onto you new car privded you do it within a year, otherwise you have to pay another £80 each year.

It will cost you £105 to transfer a reg number from a car onto a retention certificate. You then have, IIRC, 12 months to transfer it to another car.

If you don't transfer it, it will then cost another £25 to extend the retention certificate for another 12months.

How can I put my registration on hold when I decide to sell my car ?

You will need to complete a V778/1 - Retention of a Vehicle Registration Number application form. Application forms can be obtained from DVLA's network of local offices. The cost to retain a registration number is £105.

  4. As you've said, an SAE30 mono-grade oil is the same spec as required by most air-cooled petrol lawnmowers. Try somewhere that sells/services lawnmowers (e.g. Gardencentre) as they will have cheaper (but probably lower quality) SAE30 oil and in 1 or 2 litre sizes. I use Witham oil (www.withamgroup.co.uk) from the local gardencentre in my 4-stroke mower.

  5. This website should answer your questions:

    ThinkRoadSafety

Q3. Can children travel in the front seat? What about 2-seaters and convertibles?

Save for those in rear-facing baby seats against active front air-bags, children can travel in the front seat of any vehicle provided they are properly restrained. This includes 2-seaters or convertibles, even if the top is down.

  6. Don't like 350Z, there is a surprise. Pitch them against the OC for a cat fight!

LOL All those Bee Emms would go down like a bag of sick at the OC!

It's interesting that all of the members who have (so far) posted on that thread have made comments only about the car, such as 'I like it," "I don't like Nissans," or "what's the specification" etc.

No one has said: This is a BMW forum, if you want to talk about Nissans go to the Nissan forum.

You can imagine what would have happened if someone had posted pictures of a modified 3 series on the OC. :scare::protest::ban:
