  1. Hi, I have stripped a 41 thousand mile Convertible to rebuild my Sunset Coupe and am now done with the remains. Probably will only interest anyone in the South London / Kent Area as i'm in Sunny Sidcup but the shell would be ideal for cuts as the Arches / sills area thats usually rotten is as you'd expect at this mileage all good as are the front chassis legs. I'm happy for this to go free to anyone who could collect. It's not rolling but is currently on Skates so i can get it onto the front drive for loading. I can hold fire on getting rid of it for a couple of weeks if anyones interested but if i don't get any sign of interest within a week i'll send it to the scrappie as i'm sure my neighbours will be glad that i'm not turning it into a Hot Tub as i told them them to wind them up. My Nos 07340 576367 please call if you are interested. Regards
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm quite new to this forum so please go easy on me if i'm asking a stupid question. I've recently broken a 2006 Convertible with 41k genuine miles and put the rev up Engine, cd0009 gearbox, steering, clocks & door panels etc in my old sunset coupe and i still have the low mileage diff sitting here but alas without any driveshafts, which i would guess are pull out as opposed to bolted. From looking on here and the internet i think the 41k diff is mechanical (Breaker was an 06 UK GT ) and my diff i'm guessing is viscous being an 04 UK GT. My original diff has no leaks, makes no noise and locks up fine but needs new bushes whereas the 06 is far lower mileage and the bushes are like new. . If i'm right above i'm reluctant to swap it out as a: i'm guessing my shafts won't fit and b: i fitted a thorsen diff which i believe is like the mechanical one on my old E30 24 valve and i definately preffered my original clutched LSD on that as the Thorsen only worked when both sides had grip and tried to kill me when i fitted it so i swapped back to the Clutched one on that . Does anyone with a bit more experience of the Z's know if i'm correct in the assumptions i'm making above and if i am missing something please ? Car is mostly used for fast road driving as opposed to track or drifting. Many Thanks Ian
  3. Thanks for the replies Guys. I will have to learn how to do Photo's. It's kind of difficult as i only have a company e mail address and no e mail or wassap on my phone so i really need to become a tad more teckie. Just took delivery of a facelift Convertible engine donor so hopefully will have the Golden beast on the road v soon. I have loads of photo's on my phone and on a memory card so will sort out how to post them asap. Got a major surgery on the 23rd followed by 6 weeks recovery so that qwill be the ideal time for a tech self education session 🙂
  4. Hi All, Just to introduce myself as i'm new to this forum. Although i live in SE London I bought my 350 on e bay from the Isle of White where it had lain as an abandoned project for a few years. It's a Sunset / Orange leather Manual UK GT. When it arrived it looked as it did in the e bay pics, truly awful, but in actual fact once it had been mopped a good few times it started to look quite good aside from the rear foot of rotten sills, which in my mind was balanced by really good arches with all spot welds still visible and rust free. Dived into this with my old mate Graham who is a true welding Star, and followed his old adage keep cutting until you hit solid steel then weld your way back out ..... then stripped all the old underseal off with a blowtorch ......& folllowing healing time for all the burns, then re coated with etch primer& Gravitex Grey, added the obigatory new Kidney's W Brace and front brace, threw in G Teck subframe collars, and numerous other parts, stirred thoroughly and finally 11 months on from buying it arrived at a new MOT, only for the engine to let go with a wonderful rendition of " Knock Knock Knockin of heavens door " on the way back from the MOT. Now awaiting arrival of a rev up Convertible ( again e bay ) which should be here tomorrow from Darkest Cornwall which is to be my engine donor. Guess all the above is a familiar tale to many of you who've trodden this path of automotive torture so it just remains for me to say " Hello" and hope this forum turns out to be as entertaining and hellpful as the good old E30 Zone was back in the day. Ian
