    GK Tech

Just got round to kicking up my GK Tech lock kit and came across a few concerns. V3 lock kit Rack spacers Inner tie rods. It would appear that I have considerable lock improvements so that is great. I took my time trimming the inner rods to get maximum engagement, probably cut them 3 times each until I am reasonably happy. Now the issues, on full lock the 'heim' joint is now the bump stop as it contacts the lower shock bolt. I have removed the OEM bump stops but I think with a small trim it would probably be wise to reinstall these. On the opposite side the Hel brake line comes quite close to contacting the shock due to the enormous 90 degree fitting they came with. I also noticed that the spacers aren't being utilised at full lock as the joint/bolt interference stops the rack moving any further. Anybody have any experience with this kit? My suspicion is that I need the lower arms to utilise all the other mods which I'm a bit upset about as I've already spent too much!
  2. Been a while. Still waiting on the sill panels to come in from Japan and some steering rods from Australia. I have however received some bits back from powder coat which I'm very happy with. Decided to get the kidney braces done, even though they were brand new they already showed signs of rusting 🙄 Also received a care package from mishimoto, radiator, fans, intake and oil cooler. Thanks mishimoto for sponsoring the car!
  3. Been super busy with boring life stuff and not had much time for the zed but she's taking shape now. Still waiting on some sill patches and that's the underside pretty much done. Many new parts and much refreshing of old stuff, can believe the price of standard parts on these cars! Having promised myself I wouldn't get back into drifting and heading over to the initiate show I've been ordering bits again 🙄
  4. Tank back in which has covered almost all my hard work! Also doing some science to see if I can clean up some rusty bits.
  5. Ewww, the cats were actually welded to the "custom" exhaust. 🤮

    DE Cats

In need of a set of cats for my 04. Preferably high flow that will pass emissions. The old ones are a bit.....
  7. Been slacking a bit with the updates but it's been full steam ahead on the car. Pretty much finished the repairs underneath, just cleaning off the old crust and painting left really. There was a thick coating of "metal" over everything, I assume it's been treated with converter in the past leaving this thick crusty nasty stuff. I literally had to chip it off with a chisel to get something to weld to. Loads of chassis repairs from the kidney brace mounts back to the subframe mounts. Many times I contemplated giving up but she's coming together now. Not the tidyest of jobs but she's solid now.
  8. Finally got the car in the air today and got stripping. Glad I did, looks like I'm just in time to save this old girl! Subframe off, tank off and I found a few things that definitely need replacing. Day of wire brushing tomorrow.
  9. I know, glad I decided to look into it. It's been getting driven quite spirited since I got it. How the hell it has an MOT I'll never know, that has happened recently. It looks bad but it's only really that area albeit on both sides. Started the strip down today but waiting to get her on the lift to make life easier.
  10. Here we go then. New member and new to 350z ownership. Thought I'd start a little thread on my battle with corrosion. Looks like I'm in for a hell of a fight, disappointed how much I found under all the plastic covers.
  11. Greetings all. Been wanted a Z for years and finally pulled the trigger. Nice low mileage, bone stock (apart from exhaust) example, absolute hoot to drive. It was cheap, and I knew I would have a few jobs to do which I was actually looking forward too. Until I took the covers off the kidney braces and the side skirts 🤢 Looks like she'll be parked up for a while.
