  1. I notice that unit is wired Android Auto only, did you mount a port somewhere to plug into? And yeah, I've watched videos on the removal, but I'm cautious of the various ribbon connectors for AC and gauge panel. Perhaps there's nothing other than to do it though. Quick question on your point about the steering controls patch cable - could you point me to the one you're using?
  2. Hey folks, 2004 350z owner here. I got the car at the start of the year, and it came already fitted with a Chinese no-name double DIN unit and a decent fascia mount. My 350z is the Bose upgraded model with the steering wheel controls. The good about the current setup: - it functions* and seems to be properly integrated with the amp, so I assume already has the right wiring harness in place - it supports wireless Android auto The bad: - the unit has terrible touchscreen sensitivity and calibration - it has this obnoxious sound sensitive led strip at the bottom - it doesn't seem to have been hooked up to the steering wheel controls (or it doesn't support them) - it freezes up after about an hour of use, rendering it terrible for navigation I want to replace it. But from watching videos, the fitting needs the centre panel pulled off and it seems like a real pig to do, so I only want to have to do it once. My problem is not knowing exactly what wiring harnesses or adapters are back there already, and I really don't wanna take it off just to see how it's currently installed. Maybe that's unavoidable. My priorities are: - a reliable stereo model - wireless Android auto - steering wheel controls I'd love some advice, recommendations for a stereo model known to work from others, and what I might or might not need adapter-wise. I'm kinda hoping that, since it's already working alongside the amp, there's a connect2 harness fitted back there already, but it's the lack of steering wheel controls that has me doubting. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!
  3. Thanks folks! On the records on gov, there's no previous MOT fails, but it is due MOT in November and that's another condition I placed on the purchase. Appreciate the advice all round!
  4. Hi folks, sorry if this gets asked a lot but a quick search only showed me super old posts, so I thought I'd ask here. Currently driving a 2007 Hyundai Coupe SIII that, although I love the car, is only the 1.6, and is needing some work that I just don't know if I want to invest into it. Loved the 350z for a while now, and I'm pretty much ready to commit to a private-seller purchase of a 2004 350z but figured I'd at least check it sounds sensible! I've test driven it, and given a pretty decent check (though not covered all of the points on the FAQ guide yet). Basic points are it's a 2004, 90k miles, manual. It's had some cosmetic alterations, such as front splitter, rear window louvres, rear wiper delete, rear spats and diffuser. Honestly felt like a great drive, no warning rattles, no pulling to one side. Fluid levels looked good, engine bay dry and tidy. It currently has a fair amount of bubbling that is around the wheel arches, which current owner was already about to get repaired and repainted before any sale (and I said I would re-view the car once they did), and they're holding the car for me as first pref. Away from the wheel arches, the bodywork looks fantastic. Looking mainly to check if the arch bubbling is just "one of those things" or if it's a warning sign of other possible rust issues elsewhere that are more problematic. I know my way around cars but I'm no mechanic; and figured folks here might have some thoughts to share. With the bodywork repairs, they're looking just under £6k. This seems pretty fair from the searching around here I've done. Thanks!
