The button makes no noise though and even with 2 people it won’t open from the button ?

Hi, I’m new to my 350 I knew about the problem when I bought the car. The mechanical emergency cord works for the boot but the button under the license plate does nothing. No noise or anything. Is it possible just to have a faulty switch and if so does the rear bumper have to come off to look at it ??
