  1. Hi guys, I’m at a bit of a cross road! I’ve been to look at a few HR’s now and a lot of them have been sub 60k miles but needed some work done (the gallery gasket, W Brace, kidney arms and general rust treatment for example). I’m starting to think that I should just go for a higher mileage HR but get one that has had most of the work done I’ve just mentioned. What do you guys think?

Hi mate Bob at tarmac sports is selling his wife's it's a convertable and an import but low tax bracket and low mileage well worth ringing him cheers

Nice one mate I’ll have a look. Is it being advertised anywhere? If not I’ll give him a call first thing tomorrow

Yeah that’s true, I’ve been looking at that grey one the past few days but it’s about a 4.5 hour journey from me so I’ve been debating whether it will be a wasted journey!

Obviously if I buy it then it wouldn’t be a wasted journey but imagine if I don’t, it will be a long and depressing drive home LOL

    About a grand.

Maybe you should consider a higher mileage HR or go for an older DE? Still great cars.

I wouldn't be that concerned with mileage, the engines are solid. Some of the low mileage cars are up for a lot of money, there's a HR with 19k miles up for £20,000 on Autotrader, more of a collector's car really with that few miles.

    Example of a cheaper HR-

Gallery gaskets not being done should be a consideration since is not a cheap fix.

Beyond that just maybe point out some wear and tear to see if they won't bring it down a bit, make sure the service history follows Nissans schedule etc, can't think of much else but good luck with the purchase 👍

How much would it cost me to replace the gallery gasket? Thanks again for responding

  6. Hey guys, ive been on the Hunt for a good quality, well looked after 350z HR for a while

now and I think I’ve seen one that ticks all the right boxes but it’s a bit pricey! What is the most do you think I should pay for one? (Its less than 40k miles)

Hi and welcome along buddy. The answer to your question really boils down to what you want for yourself. Anyone who owns an HR will say yea it worth it. Anyone who hasn’t will say don’t bother. They are just great cars for the money. Always put a smile on your face.

Yeah that’s very true, I’m going to have a good look around and I’ll just go with the cleanest and best condition I think rather than choosing my based on engine model

    Welcome to the OC:wave:

Despite being a DE owner, I can't deny the fact that the HR is the newer/ better car.

But not so different that I've ever heard someone sell their DE to upgrade to an HR.

Go HR hunting, but always buy on condition.

Don't buy a dog of an HR over a well kept DE.

I've seen some members bag themselves some real DE gems with fantastic history/ mods/ mileage..

If you are free next Sunday, maybe even pop down to the British Motor Museum between 10am and 2pm to have a look at some.

It's our 20th anniversary meet with around 200 Zeds attending.

    Have a look.

There'll be plenty of DE and HR owners more than willing to show you round their cars:victory:

Yeah that’s a great idea mate, I live in stoke on Trent so it’s about an hour and half journey but I’m more than willing to make the trip if you think it will be worth it??
