  1. Problematic noise fixed!! Turns out it was a faulty oil filter - the valve inside was the issue. Replaced the old Blue Print for a better quality HKS filter. Thanks to Alex for your reply to my message.
  2. Hi Alex and thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. My car is an automatic but I'm not sure the answers to your other two questions. I will most certainly pass on your comments to the tech. As I don't know what is causing the noise I am reluctant to drive it as I don't know if I'm doing any damage which could lead to a serious problem. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place! Daryl
  3. Hi all. I own an Elgrand 3.5L which I believe is the same engine as a 350Z (VQ35DE). I have a whirring noise which sounds metallic when the engine is idling (relatively loud). An experienced mechanic (with Elgrand’s) has looked at it but is stumped as to what is causing it. He has taken off the belt but the noise remains. It doesn't make the noise from cold but will start after about 5 - 10 minutes. My mechanic has suggested it could be the water pump and I understand there's a way of changing it without taking the chain off therefore not risking any timing issue. They have never had to change one before and don't want to have to take the chain off so I'm looking at any advice to pass on to them. I'm reluctant to drive it anymore. If anyone has any idea as what is causing this sound I'd really appreciate your comments. This is the noise: Thanks in advance.
