  1. Just incase anyone else needs to change their plates over to French ones, which if you live in France is pretty much compulsary, here is what I did. I replaced both rear indicators with Tarmacz led synchronous (or asynchronous?) indicators. Went for an MOT (Controlle Technique) and failed as I had no foglight. I bought the 370 fog/reversing light and cut a hole in the middle of the bumper for it, also removing a small chunk of the polystyrene inside. Also fitted new LHD headlights. Went to the local garage this afternoon and pointed out that the glue I had used to stick the fog light in had melted so I had put some tape over it to hold it in (by this point i had a booked MOT so had to go), and that one of the headlights seemed to be working at half the effort. He shrugged and got very excited about the car, roof down, sunny day, shrugged a bit and finished his garlic sandwich and said Pffft a few times. I came back an hour later and he was beaming from ear to ear and said that the tape worked and the headlight was not working properly, put them both down as advisories and tried asking me technical questions about the headlights which escaped my ability to comprehend, and waved me off with a pass to come back in 2 years. Now to send the paperwork off to get a new number plate. I really thought this day would never come.
  2. Sorry, I didnt notice the PM bit, just the quotation. Have sent him a message now, and thanks for pointing it out
  3. I think I put this in the wrong section, so trying here instead: Lesson 1. Everything you do has unexpected consequences. I followed advice on here to buy a bigger Bosch battery which turned up yesterday and when I fitted it, the positive cable was caught under a lip on the battery. I pulled it free, and in doing so snapped the fuses on the cable. Living in France, much as I like living 50 years behind the times, it does impact on shops and internet supplies being rubbish. So I am going to have a go at repairing this mess, and in the meantime order a new part, but all I can find on the internet is suppliers in the States that cant post to France. Does anyone know if this part is usually available at Nissan dealers? I might be able to get a friend to collect one for me in the UK and post it, as I very much doubt that any Nissan dealer in France will have one. Where would you guys get a replacement? UPDATE I have managed to glue the 2 halves together and soldered the fuses back together and the car now starts, but I still want to replace it. Found a company in the US, EDS that will post to France for £56 with delivery taking a while and the French post office will add tax too, but I have a friend going to the UK tomorrow for a week and he can bring one back if I knew where to get one from?

  5. Thanks so much, that is invaluable. I suspect some of the questions on my form dont need answers as your V5 doesnt have an entry next to them. I will send it off and see what happens, but as long as you know that if I get it registered over here, I couldnt have done it without your help, so gold star, good boy badge and all that Thanks, Simon
  6. I know, which is why I was hoping for a scan of a V5. I dont even know what most of those boxes mean.
  7. DVLA have said that the car is exported, it isnt on their books and I cant have a V5 unless I re-import it. France will do nothing without a V5. Its the information on the attachment I posted, Probably from number 9 onwards
  8. Hoping that anyone with a 350 Roadster can help. I live in France and bought my 350Z in the UK last year, March. I left it there in a panic when Lockdown happened and hotfooted it back to France and waited. In June the Lockdown lifted slightly and I managed to get a lift to the UK, met a friend in Folkestone, bought a bag of chips and back on the Channel Tunnel. Then had reminders about the Road Tax running out, and like a total and complete idiot I filled in the export section on the V5 and posted the whole V5 back to Swansea. I had more reminders and it turned out my V5 didnt arrive and still hasnt, but over the phone they exported the car for me. Then I come to try to register the car in France (having parked the car in the barn over the winter) and I cant do it without the V5. French bureaucracy is difficult at the best of times and complicated conversations in French are not my best skill. It now turns out that my best option is to import it back to the UK, and then export it again keeping the V5. So I am filling out a V55/5 and although I can get answers to some of the questions from the car, I have no idea what some of the boxes need which I assume are standard to all 350Z's. Is anyone able to send a scan of their V5, blanking out anything thats private, just so that I can put some answers down. Import.pdf
  9. First post newbie. I live in France and needed to change the rear indicator cluster because of the fog light being on the right. I went for these as it solved all of the problems and I like the sequential indicators. https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/brands/tarmac-sportz/tarmac-sportz-nissan-350z-03-08-led-reverse-turn-signal-lights-smoked-lens.html First stage completed today and the rear bumper is off. Other than one clip that would not turn, it was much easier than I thought. Thank goodness for Youtube as I would have taken 10 times as long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI0sMZ5P_IQ While I have the rear bumper off, anything else I should consider doing? If only the house didnt need so much work I could make more progress quicker, but I will get there in the end.
  10. Like these: https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/51240/s/tarmac-sportz-nissan-350z-03-08-led-reverse-sequential-turn-signal-lights-clear-lens/?gclid=Cj0KCQjws536BRDTARIsANeUZ5-S24OE1Wt5DNSfdd7nf1Mup-yNHJvtH0vF63G7si4mRpeya2Jk6zUaAjjlEALw_wcB or https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/tarmac-sportz-nissan-350z-03-08-led-reverse-turn-signal-lights-clear-lens.html No idea if they are any good, but at least you will be able to register your car on Frenchie plates. Let me know what the pollution tax comes to.
  11. Lazurus, same thing here, I am near Limoges. I had thought of changing both clusters to dynamic indicators (or whatever they are called) with a fog light in the centre. Alternative is to buy a Left Hand drive cluster and add a fog light in the middle. Or keep watching this site to see what you do!
  12. I bought this, my first sporty car in March in the UK and wasnt able to bring it back home to France because Macron imposed a lockdown the next day. I popped back yesterday (2nd June) for 2 hours to collect it from my mate who had stored it for me and drove to Folkestone to deliver it to me, I drove all night (I think there is a song about that) 500 miles (I think there is a song about that too) home and enjoyed every minute. So pleased now it is here and I can enjoy the empty roads with the roof down and the sun out. I will need to register it here in France so will need to change the rear indicators as the fog light needs to be on the wonky side and probably change the headlights too. Where do you all buy bits from? I would prefer to fit moving indicators, whatever the proper name for them is. Other than that, i am sure I will need other stuff.
