  1. Well thanks for the replies.

I admit I am not an expert in these things, I have never had a decent car - a divorce and then a second marriage to my wife who had cancer never left with me with the financial means to afford anything other than a "granny" car.

I am sorry if my question caused such outrage - I'm just an average guy who has been blessed with the means to get a car that I was never permitted to before. In my first marriage I had the opportunity to buy a fast car - I wasn't allowed to for personal reasons.

In Feb when I got a new job after taking time out to care for my second wife who had cancer and she had the all clear she said "Get a new car - whatever you want - you deserve it".

For what it's worth my job now is at serious risk and I may have to return the keys - with all the consequences that come with those things.

Thanks for the encouraging replies and your patience - I have now lowered the pressure to 35 psi and it's a much smoother ride.

    Cheers

  2. So - a lot of the youtube videos I watch are all American.

A question - to make my 370z sound like the hounds from Armageddon what would you recommend?

The R driver opposite me with the 5 HP skateboard and aftermarket exhaust sounds better atm.

Also - thinking about chipping....if I get it chipped will I get an option to change the mapping in the status menu or is it fixed?

    Cheers

    Dave

  3. Since I got my 370z it's been pulling to left under braking, especially in the wet.

Taken it to 3 garages for wheel alignment and balance - all perfect.

Last sunday decided to check the tyre pressure. The low profile run flats I have are rated 50 psi. Front left was 27 (!), rest were under 40.

After getting them all to 50, it was like driving a new car.

*Slaps head* - been an iRacing member for years, yet this never dawned on me in a real situation.

When I got my car back from the wrappers my brother and I popped to halfrauds for something and it got quite a lot of attention. Having not had it before really I didn't know what to say apart from thanks..:teeth:

Does wrapping protect the underlying paint work? I've a small blemish in the door panel - bubbling, no rust but something funny going on.

If I got the car wrapped would I unwrap it in a couple years to find the problem much worse? Also how durable is the wrapping? Does it survive damage better than normal paintwork?

  5. Gents a bit of advice....took my car round to a garage to check alignment and balance and all that malarkey. They said it was "perfect".

Normal driving is fine...braking or hard braking the car pulls very noticeably to the left...what could cause that?

I've now took the plunge and had the car glass coated (Gen3). Looks absolutely perfect - had to smile as when I drove it away from the company that did it the rain was bickering down and the car was pretty much bone dry! :D

I don't use anything, used to use a Road Angel years ago but generally i know where they are that i may drive by and in more unfamiliar areas i would just be more cautious.  But thats good to know as I'm going to the NW200 in May

Cool! Might go meself :) Now I know that "most" of the camera warning signs in NI are fake...but just be careful. Suggest Facebooking a NI group to see where the real ones are. But you bet your ass the police will be sitting all over the place for those bad boy bikers :)

  8. It's great when someone says "great car mate"...and we get into a conversation.

Some randomer pulled up beside me last week and gave me a big nod and thumbs up...we ended up with the windows down trading praise before the lights changed.

I've started doing it myself to other people.

    Forget therapy...get a 370z :) Validation x 100 lol :)

I drive as fast as conditions allow ;)

Haha nice one - out of interest do you've any sort of off the shelf scanner or do you rely on the phone? Don't know about anywhere else but in N. Ireland the bloody signs for speed cameras seem to pop up every 2 miles. In a way I miss "The Troubles"...at least the police were out trying to catch criminals instead of worrying about the odd fast car...

Generally i am only 10 mins away from the train station so day to day my car doesn't even get up to temp ( i know the worst thing to do) but other than that when its warm i drive as fast as the road or traffic allow obviously slow for speed cameras, and 30 roads etc.

I think it was just a joke SeraTaru don't take it to heart.

I done 120 on the way home from buying my zed, speed sensibly and as often as you like, enjoy the car for what it was built to do....... just don't get caught1:lol:

Actually that's got me thinking - normally the car sits at 90 on the analogue dial but yesterday was up to about 97 - could that be because it was 17c outside? What would be a "worrying" temperature?

Nice try, plod. I always adhere to the speed limit.

Those closed roads in Mexico though..., well, that's a different matter.

Plod? Don't get you sorry - I was asking a serious question.

If I was in the police do you think I'd really spend my time on a forum, trying to work out who people are and where? Why would I not spend time doing my job in my car.

Sorry if you took me up wrongly - this is my first "fast car" at 50 and was wondering what others did.

  12. Curious...never had my 370 above 80 so far (but of course like a 50 year old child I take off from traffic lights like a lunatic)

I'd posted and asked a question on another thread about snooper devices....and got some replies.

Are some of you like me and just drive normally apart from the odd childish moment, or do others rely on an alert app / device and drive much faster?

    Cheers

  13. Had my 370z for a month now.

Yesterday I caught myself nipping out the front for a smoke a few times instead of out into the back garden. Wife caught me on and asked "Why were out the front?".

...sheepishly I replied "I was looking at the car".

Thank God she didn't see me touching it....
