If that’s the case then you pretty much have your choice of the picks, most reasonable brands and products you can get at this sort of cost, in reality they will all probably be more than suitable, some offer more adjustment than others, some have longer warranty and some have a better feel to them, I’ve personally had meister, brc and hsds can say they were all good products, I guess some of its research vs preference-

Okay mate, I'll get saving and see how much I can scrape together. 👍

I got some BC ER,s fitted this year very pleased with how the car drives now . I decided on these because of the adjustability as I do a few track days. The original shocks had done 105k so I suppose there had to be an improvement. Also I've noticed less tyre wear on the track. I should add that this my first experience of coil overs

Cheers for that mate, I know alot of people run them and are happy with them.

Basically want something that I feel confident in when driving, currently feel like I'm on marshmallows at the moment, but if the shocks are definitely gone then anything will be better. Don't want a massive drop, had 1k in mind, but if it means a bit more saving to get it right I'd rather fo that than dump a grand on something that feels inadequate on the road.

Currently sitting 17mm front, 15mm rear.

Whoever told you springs and Oem shocks are better than midrange coilovers probably didn’t know what they’re talking about, with the weight of the Z not really being on its side it’s fair to consider that updating the suspension will change the car drastically- it all depends on your budget and application- 800+ is where I’d roughly say the lower limit is for these cars and dependant on the manufacturer ie meister, hsd, teon, yellow speed brc are all in this price range- do your research and compare to what you think you can afford

Think it was on the US forum? Something about the 350z was always meant to run on shocks and springs and never coilovers and that uprated shocks/springs are a better option unless you're paying for High end custom coilovers. So much information was making my head spin in the end, so thought I'd pose the question on here.

As an option, i found that running full OEM suspension with uprated ARBs gave an excellent compromise between good road manners with improved road holding. Well worth considering if compliancy is a major concern.

Already have whiteline arbs and droplinks mate.

Actually stuff like Ohlins and the higher KW stuff is better for road usage as it’s better quality and properly damped: the budget stuff will always be crashier on the road (and I say that as someone who’s run BCs before!).

Matching sets would be the way to go, and if budget allows then I’d go KW probably over BC/Tein etc. Bilstein top stuff is good too.

I'll get budgeting for the kwv3's then if that's the case.

  8. I appreciate that this is a topic that's been done to death, but could really do with some feedback before I splash more cash out.

Currently running Tein springs with standard shocks with tarmacsportz rear camber arms which were fitted in January, whiteline arbs and droplinks fitted as well. Alignment was done at the same time.

Car now is ridiculous bouncy on motorway and getting knocking from rear, guessing my shocks have gone now. I've researched this a bit now, but can't decide whether to get bilstein b6 shocks to go with the tein springs or go coilovers?

I've read some people saying that a decent spring and shocks setup is better than any midrange coilovers on the 350z, but I know people run BC's and are very happy with them. I know Ohlins and kwv3's are quality as well, but thought that might be a bit extreme for just road use.

I know all opinions are subjective but would really appreciate some help in which direction to go in, before I make an expensive mistake.

If you're running standard power with no forced induction and you're not a drifter or on track every weekend, the simple answer is no, it would be a waste of money.

Thanks for that, I'll just stick with changing the hubs/bearings then. 👍

  10. Need to change rear hubs/bearings. Is it worth changing the axles whilst I'm in there anyway? I've seen some people upgrade to the 370z axles and Z1 do a complete upgrade package including hubs/bearings. Or do people just tend to do this just for track use?

Saw this thread but not sure what part he is referring to.

Cheers for that, but turns out it's the exhaust knocking on the plastic cover on the diff. Unfortunately I'll have to put up with it, as it must protect the diff from stone chips.

I've replaced my rear shocks and top mounts for KYB shocks. I must say no issues with bumps but the car is stiffer. I haven't driven other Zeds but I think it's just how they are.

I would say swap out the springs

Just had Tein springs fitted, and Tarmacsportz rear camber arms, with full wheel alignment done. Whiteline arbs and droplinks, front & rear ultra racing braces with new kidney braces, invidia exhaust and cobra hfc's fitted. Can't be alot else that's left that could be making a knocking from the rear other than the shocks 😆. Going in for service tomorrow so hopefully I'll find out if it is the rear shocks.

Be happy you not running 35 profile tyres eek state of the roads are horrendous. I have WAT Racing coilovers with 40 way adjustable damping and still avoid potholes wherever possible.

Agreed, roads are getting worse. Constantly have my eyes on surface of the road when I'm driving. Would the B8's be even harsher over bumps than stock though?

  14. Anyone have current experience with these on the 350z? Currently have oem shocks and tein springs. Are they horrendous on potholes etc, worse/better than oem shocks?

  15. Just installed new handbrake from Patrick Galligan (redondoaveb) on Instagram if anyone is interested? Amazing customer service and extremely efficient delivery. Think It makes the interior look more modern.

  16. As the title states, I've still got the old sat nav in place, which is hidden by the cubby lid so doesn't bother me much. However the remote and cradle is sat above the GT4 plaque which I don't like. Guessing it's glued on, can't see any screws. Without marking the plastic underneath, am I best just getting a hairdryer to it, to get rid?

For a ceramic coating, you'll need to apply to clean, bare paint. Once the coating has cured, you can wax on top but by doing so you're basically wasting wax because it won't bond to the coating.

AG Ceramic Spray is more sealant than coating though. Ideally, apply it to bare paint and wax on top - it still won't bond particualrly well, but AG Ceramic Spray has poor durability for a ceramic itself so you'll need to top it up every couple of months - there are a good few waxes that will give better durability, in all honesty. If you wax on top of AG Cermic Spray regularly (probably needs fortnightly top ups at least) it should extend that a bit... maybe three or four weeks at a push.

Always wax on top of any sealant/coating, not under, for best results.

Cheers mate, haven't got a machine polisher so been waxing by hand every week (it's exhausting 😂) hopefully the ceramic spray will save me a bit of bother as well as still protecting the poor quality Nissan paintwork.
