  1. Fixed!!!!!!!!! this evening by Bob and Chris at the Zed Shed II. Massive thanks to those two guys, I'd sent Chris a pm earlier about getting some coil packs and he kindly offered to have a go at working out where the dodgy cylinder was. They identified the misfiring cylinder (No. 2) and a coil pack swap later I'm back on 6 cylinders. But it gets even better, after a tour of their fantastic garage and assorted cars and a proper chat about Zs etc, Bob showed me round to the back of my car where a Z shed sticker had 'magically appeared' on the back window- hows that for a bonus. So looking forward to finally getting out and really enjoying my new toy. PS. In answer to Humpy, I'm exactly 4.5 miles away from them, pretty lucky I know!
  2. Thanks guys, yeah i guess the way to look at it is ive brought quite a few cars privately over the years, always research what im buying and up till now been OK. So perhaps this was bound to happen at some point.
  3. Hello all After lots of research and looking brought my new Z back at the end of June (private sale). Its a 2004 GM UK one with 82K and Rays Wheels, just what i was after. All was good and this was the best car ever until...... Ill explain from the start. Drove fine on the urban 10 mile test drive (of course) and for the first 10 miles or so of my ownership + no engine lights on dash. Then the intermitent misfires started, just for a couple of miles at a time at first but then got worse. New cam position sensor and plugs cured it for a good 60 miles or so before it came back. Again briefly at first but now become permanent and pretty much un-driveable! Just to add to my joy ive now got codes for p0300 multiple misfires and p0430 cat converter in-efficiency - great! So anyhow not giving up yet, going to try some coil packs as a next step - hopefully getting some of these from Chris at the Z-shed which is pretty close to me. So hello, I'd love to introduce myself on a more positive note but so far the journeys been the odd few miles of B road bliss, great V6 noise, power, handling (all as good as as i was hoping for) interspersed with a lot of frustration, swearing and very unpleasant V5 or V4 type noises!! At least it looks good sat on my drive, just have to put the fact it does'nt ******** work at the back of my mind! If this becomes an ongoing saga ill post a thread in the engine section, otherwise hope to say hello again once the cars on the road and I'm drifting my way sublimely round the wet autumn roads, V6 singing!
