  1. Thanks for all of the input lads, i'll email him so I have some solid correspondence rather than a phone call. The problem is my dad had to fit the bill as he was collecting it for me as i'm down on base, so he's already been paid £200. Is it worth getting a Consumer Ombudsman involved explaining how he never rang me and told me about complications and it costing considerably more?
  2. Unfortunately I didn't receive any call updating me on the situation, it was just done and I was expecting to pay £60 tops, especially as that's what he originally said.
  3. Hi gents, So I've just had a call from the garage who initially quoted me an hour maximum to fit an Invidia Gemini exhaust. He said the bill is £200 because it has taken 4 hours but more like 5 because nuts and bolts were seized, coupled with the fact that I had a brace that was dented and he took it off and straightened it. Is it even plausible that It could have taken 4 hours to fit? What are my options? I always get taken for a ride by garages, ever since I passed my test 9 years ago... Cheers, Rhino
  4. That clears so much up GMBallistic so thank you! I am really drawn to the sound of the N1 for some reason. What Y-Pipes should I look at if I take that route? I found this on Ebay by Toyosport http://www.ebay.co.u...xIAAOxyOMdS5ljH Are they any good as a manufacturer and would that go well with the Invidia N1?
  5. Thanks for all of the great feedback, just another from question from myself. What's the difference between the Invidia Gemini and N1 catback systems? @Jetpilot, I also need a Y-Pipe otherwise I would bid!
  6. That Motordyne is a beast, i'd love to throw that money at it but I need to buy a house at some stage Ok so new cats and catback it is, for some reason I had in my head that the cats were after the Y-Pipe (derp) Not liking the sound of potentially failing MOT's, my luck with cars and MOT's is bad enough I just found this by Buddy Club, are they any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BUDDY-CLUB-NISSAN-350Z-Z33-TWIN-PRO-SPEC-MUFFLER-CAT-BACK-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-Y0168-/281294391537?hash=item417e73c8f1:g:diUAAOxyhXRTMXRp
  7. Thank you all for the input so far, I was so set on a Powerflow but the more I read the more i'm swayed into getting a tried and tested catback! @GMballistic I've just had an ear-gasmn. Both sound absolutely epic but I do like the lower growl of the Invidia Gemini. My budget is £1000 however I need more than just the catback as I have a crack in my Y-Pipe :'( would it be worth getting new headers and everything too?
  8. What other options would you guys suggest? I don't want it stupid loud, i'd like to be able to do a long journey without putting my head in a blender! I'm after a deep muscle car like tone rather than a high pitched race sound. I'd also pick performance over how it sounds anyway.
  9. Haha not scared Keyser but you have just made me realise that I also want to hear my radio inside of the car! I'll definitely get race cats then. How about Powerflow themselves, any good?
  10. I like the sound of the single "3 pipe from the manifolds but i'd like to keep the twin exhaust look at the back! Is there a big difference in performance between the OEM system and a custom built set up that doesn't merge at all?
  11. Alright gents, I'm going all out for my first mod at the end of this week and it's going to be a full exhaust system. I think i'm pretty set on a Powerflow straight pipe set up due to the fact that it's stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty. Firstly, has anyone had any experience with Powerflow and are they a good option? Secondly, what build should I go for If i am looking for performance increase and the loudest exhaust on planet earth? Bearing in mind it needs to pass an MOT in august Also Is there a big difference between dual catbacks rather than having them split at a Y pipe or not? I'll try and get a before up on YouTube for the end of this post. Appreciate the feed back in advance, Rhino
  12. Brilliant, thank you all for your input. Finding a good local garage is the hardest part these days, my previous car went in for an MOT and was hit in a car park in which the garage also used and there was nothing that could be done about it. Thanks again for confirming the slipping clutch, i'll get on to it ASAP. Much appreciated, Rhino
  13. Alright gents, Firstly sorry if this has been asked many times or if it's pinned. I haven't been able to locate anything. I have a 260 mile drive from Exmouth to Cambridge next week and my car has fallen ill. The symptoms are as the title suggests, during the higher gears when the accelerator is pressed the revs are shooting up with no response/ pull from the Z. I gave it a run out earlier to try and diagnose it better and it started happening as low as 3rd gear. Is the clutch slipping and in need of replacement of is there an easier fix? It's a 350z GT4 with only 41,000 miles on it. Any advice would be fantastic, thank you. Rhino
  14. I am currently having issues with my clutch too JackQ. Although I don't have an almighty thud on return... I'm not too clued up when it comes to mechanical but this is what i've been told to try by Keyser who definitely knows his stuff. Hope this helps, Ryan
  15. I'm glad you can Mudman because I certainly can't! I didn't manage to get to the Grand Canyon either Kraziekatz but if I end up back there I don't think i'll make it out alive.. Married too huh? I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! Thank you for the advice, I can be out of country for 6 months at a time depending on my unit but most of the time the RAC come and jump start everyones cars for free!
  16. Haha thanks lads! I have stories 10 times worse than that but they don't belong on this forum Kraziekatz1, it's the I went to Vegas and lost my @*!# version!
  17. Imc I am across the River Exe based at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines mate. (Is your Zed submersible?) I've just booked it in with Dinans Garage in Exmouth, the technician seems keen to do a full fluid change for me which is great, shame she's not getting seen till the 22nd though He was impressed with my knowledge. Thanks again K, really appreciate it!
  18. Thank you all for the sound advice! I have recovered the car successfully from Nissan and I am about to ring an independant garage. I'd love to be able to say I can do it myself Keyser but unfortunately I am not mechanical. What I will do is approach the garage with your knowledge and hopefully that will safeguard me from a huge bill when they try and tell me it is something completely different... The rest of the health check was all green and I am happy with that, it was more or less a free M.O.T minus the stamp and he said that the fluids could do with a change. I will let you know how she gets on! Thanks again, Rhino
  19. Hey guys, I just bought my Zed from a trade garage near London which specialise in 350's last week. I noticed the clutch was not returning on the long drive from Cambridge to Exeter with the symptons started early into the journey. I have done some research myself and a lot of people are saying it could be a leak or a slave/master fluid change. I took it to Nissan as I wasn't sure if the trade dealer covered it under warranty and got a technician to check it out. I explained that most of the 05's have this issue and it's normally a simple fluid change but after he played around with the clutch he said it feels heavy and worn. He rang the garage that I purchased the Zed from explaining the issue and they said it is not covered under warranty. Nissan then offered me a complimentary health check on the car which I took advantage of and today I have recieved a video of her up on the ramps being inspected. The technician said that there were no visible signs of leaks which implies that it's all clutch wear with the peddle being heavy and not returning. He mentions that the gearbox needs to be removed and inspected with a cost breakdown of "Cost of Urgent Work: £987.04" The car is an import from ireland and has done around 40,000 miles. Should the clutch be out of shape? I have had the car for less than a week and am already potentially facing a bill of £1000, what avenues can I try before forking out loads? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Ryan
  20. Hi guys, I've just got back to work after 4 weeks off from the marines and things got a little crazy... Before summer leave, I was saving hard for a house as an investment. The plan was to pick one up and get some tennants in to pay off my mortgage while I live on base for cheap. To cut a long story short, I ended up in Vegas. I realised I was on my Quarter-life crisis somewhere along the line of David Blaine losing me £100's at craps in Ceasars Palace and getting choked out by a stripper who had her knee in my throat. I came back from the US feeling used and abused. The bank account got hammered and so did I, luckily there was some good that came out of it all. When I got home I ditched my 1.7L Diesel Honda Civic for a 350z GT4 and it is safe to say I am still firmly in my Quarter-life crisis and will be for the foreseeable future! No regrets! Rhino out.
