  1. Re the clutch, in dry conditions I have no issues with clutch slipping as I did think that might be a problem. When I see that name federal mentioned by someone I'm sure that's the tyres that are on mine but I haven't been able to check tonight. Thanks for everyone's advice and opinions so far. I will update once I get it checked out. As I said mot is due in the new year so will do it all at the same time.

  2. lol this is the thing my zed is spinning its wheels just keeping up with normal traffic I'm not putting my foot to the floor as I said earlier 4th gear at 65 shouldn't be doing this regardless of tyres. I'll try my best to check tyre pressures tonight but depends when k folkish work car isn't a daily driver.

  3. Cheers for that alive boy, the reason I'm on here asking about the traction issues is that I'm not driving in anyway aggressively or as you say like a tool.

I'm having serious traction issues that weren't there when I bought the car a year ago. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to accelerate in 3rd gear on a dual carriage way that is empty in both lanes.

Everyone else thanks for the input and I will book the car in for the geometry check in the new year and also update tonight with the tyre size incase it has anything to do with it.

  4. Thanks for your input.

I definitely feel something isn't right with the car with as it just wasn't that wet yesterday and at 4000rpm in third straight line it just snapped away luckily the traction control sorts it all out but it does give you a bit of a fright.

It is due an mot in January so after that I think I will get an alignment done when I change the tyres. Is it okay to just buy two new rears at the moment as I'm not sure I can afford 4 new tyres in January even though I would like too. The tread looks fine on the 4 tyres that are on at the moment.

I'm at work today so can't check tyre sizes until tonight although I will up date the thread when I know.

  5. With the bad weather recently I have been noticing that my zed has been kicking the rear out when accelerating in a straight line.

This is happening in 4th gear at 65mph which is a bit disconcerting!

I'm guessing it is all down to the tyres as they were new tyres when I got the car a year ago but I would class them as of ditch finder quality.

I appreciate the weather has been shocking over last few days but yesterday it was only lightly raining and it was still trying to kill me in a straight line.

Is this as simple as stump up the money for some decent tyres and the traction issue will go or is my diff possibly on its way out the car is on 65000 miles.

    As alway thanks in advance.

  6. These window mechanisms are a nightmare 😔

I'm hopefully stripping mine down next week but it's weather dependent.

Will let you know how I get on.

  7. i had three years of opening and closing my drivers door without the window dropping, never had any issues. replacing the battery was a doddle, disconnect old one, swap in new one, reconnect. job done, nothing else needed.

I did however have a problem getting the battery clamp back on again - in the end asked CS to do it for me when it was serviced.

Did you ever take the door apart to see if the motor in the door could be recon'd? I do need to be careful when closing the door otherwise I get a horrible noise. Did you just close yours as normal? Could be yours jammed slightly lower than mine.

  8. Yeah I have to be very careful when closing my door at the moment. It's a massive pain tbh and I'm going to do something about it soon. Suppose it keeps me away from the drive through right enough 😂

Hopefully the motor just needs cleaned as I could do without having to spend more £ on the car.

Thanks for your help. Battery all changed and starting a treat now!

  9. Hi all.

Battery will no longer start the car without jump leads so I'm going to buy a new battery today.

Just wanted to ask I few people had said online about dropping the windows before changing the battery. This would be impossible for me as my drivers window currently doesn't drop at all!

Would I still be okay to go ahead and change the battery?

( I know I need to fix the window but that's for another day )

    Thanks for your help!!

  10. I'm currently on 61k. Can't find any recipes to say it's been changed so got to assume it's the original. I get chatter in neutral with the clutch released the same as zeezeebaba. I can find it tricky at low revs to engage the clutch smoothly when changing gears but above 2.5k I never have a problem. Maybe I'm just crap at driving mind you 😳

  11. It will use a lot more battery juice to start the car, so don't rule the battery out just yet.

You were correct! tried the jump leads and it fired first time like a good un. Now not sure why the battery went flat. Could be its just had its day. Only sat on the drive for 5 days and pretty sure nothing was left on anywhere.

    Thanks for everyone's input!! Appreciated!

  12. This is true. It was not hearing the fuel pumps prime that worried me. When I tried it again I could hear what sounded like a gurgling noise from behind me which then eventually stopped. My car was last driven on Tuesday. The last time I tried to switch it on today it really struggled to turn over so would that make you think battery?

  14. I seem to have had the exact problem tonight! My car will tick over but won't catch! My battery is fine because radio and everything fire up but nothing else. I can't hear the fuel pump prime which I have always heard before I turn the key! Zeezebaba any ideas on this regarding the fuel pump? Any help appreciated as a bit gutted at the moment!

  15. Gutted for you mate but most important thing is everyone is all okay ðŸ‘🻠car seems to have stood up well to the impact!

You will feel really down just now but you will get a new car sorted and be back on the road in no time!

Did he have the traction control turned off when it happened? Just I gave it a bit to much gas in torrential rain coming off a roundabout a few weeks ago and the zed caught it for me thank goodness 😳

  16. I live near the seaside, came home yesterday and the drivers side was obliterated with the stuff!

It's so frustrating as you end up washing the whole car again to balance it out.

Anyone tried the bird poo remover from halfords?

  17. I had a similar problem in mine bud, my auto electrician found in the small fuse box by the accelerator pedal there is a black cable with a red end and it was loose and worn so sometimes it wasnt recognising when the door was open., he stripped the cable, re-soldered the wire back and now it works perfectly no problems since

Hi Jimmy I will give this a look tonight if I get a chance. I grimace when I close the door and the window hasn't dropped 😩 after opening and closing the door a few times the other day it sprung into life again so definitely seems like some kind of electrical connection problem. Do I need to disconnect the battery before looking at the fuses? Bit of a noob electricity wise! Cheers.

  18. Sorry to bump this but this window is starting to do my head in!

The window works a treat for an extended period of time then all of a sudden it just doesn't drop. There is nothing I'm doing differently to cause this.

I'm loathed to strip the whole door apart as the window works perfect the rest of the time until it just decides it's had enough for the day lol

Leave the car parked up, usually over night and the window has went back to working fine!

Any ideas of where to go next would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

  19. My zed is fitted with front and rear parking sensors. I'm not sure whether these were available as an optional extra at point of purchase (05 plate gt) ?

The fitting is brilliant and they look as if they came from the factory but I have a question with them.

The rear sensors work fine by the front sensors don't seem to do anything, is there a certain speed you need to be doing or parking speeds or are they maybe just no longer working?

Anyone got any ideas of how they should work?

    Thanks in advance.
