  1. Yeh bit of a bummer dude! There we are, onwards and upwards! I'm not sure really dude, I kind of want to get back out asap and if I go down that route it'll be a lot longer than just putting another vq in! Undecided yet really
  2. Ok, well at least we're maybe getting somewhere with diagnosis of the problem! No there isn't any stickers saying, I knew that it's better to put 98 in, but I didn't think it would be deadly putting in 95. I guess I know for next time now
  3. Well.... this is interesting! I think I may have f****d up then! I actually thought they were ok to run on 95 fuel! But yes you are all right, that must have played a massive contributing part in it!
  4. I'm hoping it's just the bearings that have gone as a set of acl bearings may help a great deal on my next engine! I will be taking a lot more precautions though next time as maybe I got a bit too comfortable thinking vqs were bomb proof, I've always tried to look after my engine as best I can, but fuel wise I would always go for normal fuel, and maybe I was using too thin a oil. Even though it states that 5-30 should be used, my car spends most its life being bashed on the limiter being a drift car. Also it might be worth looking into oil cooler, baffled sump and like I set a set of acl rod and main bearings. Opinions on this?

Unfortunately an ls is just not an option, with trying to save for a house etc, I've been thinking though....... it's common knowledge vqs weak point is the bottom end, would upgrading to acl rod and main bearings maybe solve this problem? Has it been done before to an n/a 350?
  6. Haha yeh a lot! And a lot to get it in and working! I do t really want any more power or anything, I just want something reliable and easier/cheaper to replace if it dies
  7. yeh that's the thing, time wise a vq would be the viable option, this is why I'm favouring towards a 1uz or similar as you can pick them up a lot cheaper than a vq. So if the uz went I could put another in a lot cheaper. Yeh haha it's was pretty spectacular
  8. Yeh I mean, so far as getting the engine in and mating with gearbox, that would be a problem, it would just be the general airing of it all and getting it running and working with everything.
  9. Hi everyone. So.... long story short my 350z died yesterday. The bottom end went and has made a rather large hole in the block. Just deciding what I should do now. It's a known thing that the bottom ends are not great on vqs, recently I have known of quite a few that have blown up. Although mine is a drift car it did get looked after really well, oil and filters changed after every drift day, oil checked throw out the day etc. But it still went. Now I could get another vq and put that in easily but there seems to be a premium on them, thy are around the 2k mark. Now this would be the easiest option but who's to say this won't just happen again. Mine had only done 88k and most of the engines I've found for under 2k are all higher mileage than mine. My second thought is maybe go down a different route...... maybe v8, m62, 1uz as these are all around the same power and from what I've heard are reliable and strong engines. I know there would be a lot of fab and stuff making it work in the car, but you can pick up ( for example ) an ls400 for around 4-500 quid. Leaving a fair bit of money to get it working, it would probably work out more than buying another vq I know, but..... if I spent that money making a v8 work in a z, if I blew it up I could source another engine for 4-500 pounds. But if I put another vq in and it goes again (which is likely) I'd have to fork another 2k out for an engine. So in the long run what do you all think?? I havnt set any ideas in stone at all just thinking out loud. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance

  12. hi all, still need a passenger side headlight as my cracked lens one has stopped working all together now! dont really fancy paying ebay prices, i don mind if the lights are misted up or anything, as long as it works, mine are the 8 pin sort. many thanks doug
  13. hi mate, sorry im not sure if they would fit or not, i know that youd be able to lower the car more and have a better ride, are you on "true coilover" set up or the normal inboard spring and damper?

  15. basically my mate decided to just stop mid drift round a corner.......therefore i need a passenger side headlight unit as the plastic cover is in a million pieces 2003 uk model. many thanks

  19. right then, its been a very long while since i updated this, i just cant find the time to sit still and update things as much as i would like, but here goes....... the car has changed visually quiet alot lately, performance wise its still a bog standard "de" and to be honest im not feeling the need for any more power at the moment. i have finally had my roll cage finished off (front section, door bars and windscreen gussets) it makes the car feel so much more solid and looks awesome! i decided to have a go painting it myself and it came out really well, opted for "nissan gold" colour and it looks really good! I ended up bending my rear driftworks camber arms, not sure how, probably on the UK's amazing roads, so had a replacement set sent out under warranty, i needed another alignment at the time so was perfect timing to fit new arms and get everything straight true! i wont bother putting a pic of these as we all know what they look like. i also bought some new front wheels, i wanted a spoked front wheel and dished rear wheel setup on the car for those "japanese" feels so i went for some japan racing jr5's in 18x9.5 et22. i still run a 30mm spacer up front for fitment and brake clearance purposes. ive finally managed to get my wing on now too...... its pretty wild and is not going to be to everyones taste but i like it, and i feel it goes with the aggressive look of the car. i wanted some vertex style skirts next, so i went for some aerokit ones, as i cant get vertex skirts anywhere, they sit on the car stupidly low and un supprisingly are pretty f***ed now! they are being held together by alot of zip ties. and finally no race car is complete without a team livery, a friend of mines brother does graphics and stickers so he designed the decals, cut them and stuck them on the car for us, there are 4 of us in our little "team" all with the same livery. let me know what you think. thats about it really for mods, ive just been trying to get seat time in lately, the car has been working faultlessly and i havnt got anything i really "need" at this moment in time. ive been on a few drift days lately too, i was up in scotland at driftland in july for the "awesomeboss" drift event, it was absolutely amazing, such a good weekend, and to top it off i was asked to do the drift demos with the pro drivers at night which would have been worth the trip up in itself. i drove the 6-7 hour journey in my car, drifted all weekend and drove it home too which is a spectacle in my eyes! then next i was kindly asked by steve dyer (on here) to come and do some drifting at niss-show at rockingham, doing passenger rides and drift demos for the public, it was an awesome day with masses of seat time, the track set out was pretty basic but it was so fun and flowy, i had one of my mates with me in his livery'd up r33 drifting too, so got some pretty cool photos and videos of us twinning, i also met "bizz" who was drifting too and got some really good runs in with him and his LS powered Z, that thing really is quite hard to chase but i dont feel i embarrassed myself! i did make a quick edit of a few of the runs at niss-show so check it out (apologies for the music, im sure you all will hate it) haha

    hi everyone, has anyone got a spoiler for sale, considering anything really, cheaper the better, condition is not an issue as long as it isnt totally ruined, what have you got people? cant really find much in the uk, everything seems to be abroad!
