  1. Thanks for the reply Hype, appreciate it. I asked as although I never owned a Z4 before I did own an e36 M3 Evo (321bhp at the crank) when I was living back in the UK, hard for me to compare too closely as I have owned many cars between then and the 370z. However one thing I did know was that the M3 was my most fun car that I had owned back then, and more importantly the 370z reminds me alot about it even though its an auto and 100kg heavier. In traffic and normal driving it feels like a just another car, but put pushing the loud pedal down and it screams and goes.

    Nice pic of the Z4.

  2. i have part ex'd many cars and they have never looked at who serviced it, only is it stamped up to date

I traded in a Z4 for my 370z - and the garage specifically asked if it had full BMW service history - but yes, previously to this they've only ever been interested that it had a full service history, regardless of where it's been maintained.

How do you find the Zed compared to the bimmer you had fella?

  3. I'm guessing any variation would show up a lot more on your Magma red one that it would on my Black. I gave up in the end. Will just have to wait until I can get the thing resprayed :)

Yep, looks like crap to be honest. Area i touched up is about the length and thickness of the white tip of my pinky finger. After paint cured now its lighter, originally was darker before mixing it HAHA.

  4. Not a lot to do with the Nissan badge, in The U.S.A sales of The Zed series held up much better than The Z4 or The Audi TT, only Porsche did better.

    Cars Sold in The U.S.A

    Z4...........2004.......13,654, 2009..........3,523

    350/370..2004........30,960, 2009.........13,118

    Audi TT...2004........5,275, 2009............1,935

Porsche..2004.......31,473, 2009..........19,696 (Total sales of all Porkers)

Maybe our American cousins don't have the same badge snobbery as us though. I will attempt to dig out further sales figures when I get a spare few hours.

Remember this a country where Hyundai is a big seller, in fact Hyundai's sell the most here in the USA only second to S Korea. So I guess you have a valid point about badge snobbery.

Being a large country geographically over here in the USA, I too do not see that many 370's around, sure since April of 2014 when I bought mine, I have seen about 7 in total and I have done about 8 K miles in mine since. However, I do also prefer the rarity of this car as well. I could have quite easily of purchased a 2014 Mustang GT or a Camaro, but they are as they say here Dime to a Dozen, all over the place. Not that I dislike them mind, but still I prefer to have something a little less common.

  5. Nissan touch up paints dont match at all fella. I tried a magma red one on mine and it was alot darker and stood out badly. In the end mixed the paint with another manufacturer similar colour to get a close match, used a product called Langka also to level off the blob.

  6. Very sorry to hear this, guarantee no insurance, so probably a waste of time trying to find him.

I had the same when a guy ran into the back of me and just drove off, unfortunately he left his front

number plate behind, so old bill had no prob tracing him, but he had no insurance, so he got £100 fine

for no insurance and I got a repair bill of £1,250 on my Merc. Not fair..

    Looks like justice prevailed.

I was thinking once, next time I come back to UK for a short stay, I might as well buy an old banger for a few hundred quid, drive around in it and just dump it before I leave, much cheaper than renting right?

I think the only thing that may be a hindrance is being stopped by cops via their ANPR system. Appart from that Id be good to go.

  7. I run the mpss tyres and it drifts no problem. Mine even breaks out in straight line acceleration in the dry. Imo they are not as awesome as everyone makes out and you can get just as much performance from cheaper tyres. And mine have only lasted 4 months but that's probably my own fault for having a heavy foot

What would you recommend then ? Since you mentioned other tyres.

On a side note, I am new to the Z platform, noticed when the traction control kicks in, it is as if the car comes to an almost halt. I remember driving my brothers MX 5 and his traction control was not as aggressive.

  8. Think youself lucky that you only deal with stone chips, twice a year here for approx 4 weeks each time we have love bugs that splatter on the car and eat the paint via its acidity. I have a clear bra on mine as well as the rear wheel arch area and sills.

On my previous cars here I also used those black vinyl ugly face masks. It did do its job. However I applied some masking tape around the edges of the black mask thus to prevent paint scratches.

  9. Can someone please look at their service book and tell me what the oil change schedule states ?

My service book states for every 5K miles, was wondering if they are different in UK.

Hi There, don't forget that in The USA oil specs are different to that in the UK. Use a good quality oil (synthetic not mineral which is widely used in the USA). Should last 9k miles then between oil and filter changes. If you go to Jiffylube change your oil every 3k miles

LOLzzz.. I do my own changes, I just did my second oil change 2 days ago. First was changed at 2400 miles ( factory filled oil ) with Penzoil Plat synthetic 5-30, Most recent Mobil 1 0-40 at 7400 miles..

The book calls for changes every 5k miles for oil here, hence why I was asking what it says over there. I wasnt aware that a 0-30W synthetic is different to a 0-30W synthetic over there, joking right?

  10. Welcome to the forum - can see you like your cars in red - got a Ferrari tucked away somewhere? ;)

Interesting pic of the tep read out in fahrenheit - not sure we can do that on the UK cars that I thought were only in celsius - need to check my settings........

Yeah, I think that can be changed on the menu system but the oil temp is in F and fixed this way as the dials are calibrated in F. I read on here you cannot change the clock to 24 hour, so I have the 12 hour clock which is a little lame to be honest.
