  1. Just notified HMRC of import, no VAT as intra EU. Started to sweat as online the first thing it says is VAT is payable and then read on and it says not due but online submission doesnt specifically state this until you actually click submit. Thank you baby Jesus.

    Hey flex,

Glad you got sorted. Sorry wasn't there quick enough to help. The info isn't clear cut and can be confusing...expecially the but about notifying the hmrc etc. but I saved money buying my zed in Ireland. So it was worth it and I got the exact car I wanted.

Anyways the Car looks mint! Safe happy motoring!

    Daragh.

  2. Ok so I'm about to pyut a deposit down on a car, fly over Friday, collect and ferry back. Never done anything like this!

I don't think there's any VAT/Duty (yes I'm an accountant but it's not something I've encountered before), DVLA I think is fairly straight forward. It's a second hand car btw.

    Anything I need to consider?

I'll update with what it is as soon as it's on.

Hey bud. I've done it. Bought mine in Ireland. It's re registered in uk now. Pm if you need some help. Had to do learn for myself but I would have loved some info from someone that did before me.

  3. Right I'm back...

So in order to pass the mutual recognition for registering an import... I have to change the dials to mph. Fair enough, bought the part and it's on the way in the post. Nissan said they could change it following a visit into them for a service.

But here's the thing...it's not a need but a want...

I want to have the digital dash cluster gauge to change into imperial too I.e. Mileage in miles rather than km, Litres/100km to mpg, speed into miles etc but Nissan said they can't change it via diagnostic kit.

Surely someone with a jap spec car has had them changed so it all matches ?

Easy fix or expensive. Appreciate the help

  4. i suppose the car would never get parked overnight in a dodgy area or whatever so maybe ya i could just get the neo chrome. if i do get some ill need heat treated exhaust tips... or else replace the full exhaust. thoughts? think it would go well on the sunset colour

  5. hi guys,

I noticed after owning my 350 for 2months now that i have no locknuts on my alloys?? hardly standard is it?

Also i fancy the driftworks neo chrome nuts... any idea where to get matching lock nuts from?

    cheers

  6. Irish cars have KPH dials from 2005.

Do they not have mpg also along side kmph?

I'm not sure to be honest...I've only been in one uk spec car over here but haven't seen this Irish one yet. Only got my dad to have a look for me. I would have a guess it's probably displaying kph/litre

  7. So is the best thing a direct swap of kph to uk mph clock so?

I've heard about the converter on eBay but will have to have a look see on here how viable it is to change the clocks...any particular posts that ppl recommend.

But here's a another question ... Do I need to change them at all? Is it for preference or to pass the mot?

  8. Hello people!

Question, I'm in the process of potentially buying a 350z in Ireland but i will be importing it to the UK so ill need to convert the kph dials to mph. Does anyone know if the same method for jdm kph to uk mph dials needs to be done?

    Cheers

    Daragh

Also I meant to say it's not a JDM....it's an Irish car but I imagine it would be the same as a uk spec car except in kph...

  10. One owner from new is only good if he's looked after it. He spent 30k on the car then leaves it laying around because of a dodgy starter? I think it's a bit dodgy because surely you'd just put a new starter in it and carry on? So this leads me to believe that there's more wrong than just that.

Agree. You need to check service history, mileage etc.

Oh ya that's a given, il be checking for that and making sure it's got its major service done etc. But will the likes of bushes cease and need replacing or any hoses or anything in particular?

  11. Ya I get ya. Things il be looking out for are decent brand tyres on it, tells me an owner putting money into it!

Well we both work at Nissan plant and he must have got a employee discount deal on it new and held onto to it since. He's had 2kids so he says he has no use for it. He didn't have it for sale at all...I just got his name from a colleague I work with when I said I was looking at 350zs...then he mentioned you should ask if the other guy would be willing to sell if he has just left on a drive. So I did get in touch and I'm due to see it one of the days

  12. Hi ladies and gents,

Noob here. I'm trying to get on to the Z wagon. Haven't driven one yet but I'm planning for a test drive soon with a dealership. Though I've found out at work that a colleague in a different dept has had a 53 plate 350z uk usual gt spec with 72k since new but.....it's been sitting on the drive for year with a dodgy starter apparently and flat batt. Bar the big service...what else should I be looking out for with the car been sitting not started for a year.

I'm not sure if I want him to try start it by getting a new batt or anything. From experience with my current car (Subaru legacy gtb) which had sat for 1or2 years not driven or started - once it was started and driven to the garage it's 2 turbos blew albeit the engine was ok. Now I know a 350 isn't turbo but I'm thinking it might be worth towing to a garage to give it a service and look over by a mech

Anyways I haven't seen it yet and don't know how much it is but could get it cheap. He has no use for it at the mo so may get a bargain! One owner since new has to be good!

Thanks for your help and hopefully I will have one soon!

    Waffles.
