  1. TBH It has not annoyed me at all. Excellent unit for the price. I don't even feel any need to change the standard speakers/amplifiers. I'm more than happy with it for the price. I think you will get the same reply if you want to pm 14N.

I think I'll go for that headunit. Do you know what cables I would need from the link below to get it completely working? Also, would I need the facia too?

  2. Understand. Saw the HUKD too. Haven't had the chance to setup my phone yet but the phone button on the steering wheel now changes the head unit mode from cd to radio etc.

Ah ok. It's a shame you can't change the phone icon on the steering wheel to look like a source button then haha.

  3. The main reason I upgraded was because my Bose was suffering from the dreaded hiccups. Kept original speakers and amps. Far superior sound now especially after doing Busters wiring mod regarding the RCA plugs. The fitting kit you need depends on what setup you have at the minute. There is a step by step guide on the incartec website. My steering wheel controls work as before the only diff being the phone button now changes the head unit mode. Halfords had another Alpine unit ( CDE-W233R ) available I store for £50. The only diff with this unit is that their is no Bluetooth.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I saw that one on HUKD today but it isn't in stock local to me. I'd like one that worked with the phone button on the steering wheel so it has a purpose again.

  4. 14N and myself have fitted an Alpine CDE-W235BT ( £140 from Halfords ) and found it to be excellent value for money. Just requires a fitting kit which I got from incartec.

What fitting kit did you buy? Also, does it work with the steering wheel controls and phone button?

  5. Hi,

I was wondering if this has been done before. I have a rear view camera that is currently wired up to the JDM sat nav system.

Ideally I'd like to remove this and wire the camera to an aftermarket headunit (Something like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-XAV-65-Car-Stereo-6-1-Screen-Double-Din-DVD-USB-iPod-Playback-/251531059195?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a906b5ffb)

Is that possible? And if so are there any guides on how to do it?

  6. Thanks for all the welcome messages :D .

I've had the zed a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. Had a few problems with the rear discs and pads which the garage I got it off of fixed for me but apart from that its flawless.

I gave it a good clean and wax last week and I was really surprised at how good the condition of the paintwork is.

  7. If you needed to replace the full set then I'd keep it matching all round, the link you posted yesterday come as a front and rear option too... :)

Seems like I'd be better off doing them all so I know where I am with them.

Will I only need the discs and pads? On my old Clio I also needed spacers on the rear. Is there anything like this for the zed?

  8. No set guide for how often they need replacing as it comes down to driving styles, motorway use or daily drive etc... :)

Is it possible they have never been replaced?

Would I be better buying new discs and pads all round to match?

  9. With the JDM calipers you can see what's fitted but to get a proper look at the discs and pads I'd remove the wheels... :)

I had a quick look this morning but I've not had time to remove the wheels. I know it isn't much to go on but can you tell what front pads I might have fitted from these pictures?

I'd like to get them ordered asap.

  10. Do yourself a favor mate and get someone who knows what there doing to look at it. By the questions your asking this is gonna go wrong. Its yer brakes so for your sake and everyone else on the road get it sorted properly

Don't worry I'll get them fitted at a garage but I'll buy all the parts myself so I know what I'm getting fitted :-)

  11. You can indeed go with the combo you've linked, as the discs will be standard and it'll mean you'll be using the same pads that are already fitted... :)

Excellent, thanks for your help. I'll check what I have fitted to the front in the morning and report back. Would I have to take the alloys off to see what pads are fitted?

  12. Is it the rears that are grinding, what's fitted on the front, if it's standard discs on the front I'd emulate the same with the rear, it also looks like you have Yellowstuff pads fitted too, which we also supply... :)

First port of call would be to inspect both front and rear pads and discs and then see which is needed... :)

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty certain the grinding is coming from the rear and all the other discs look smooth so I'm guessing it's just that one.

I'll take a look at the front discs and pads in the morning to see what I have on there.

If it is the Yellowstuff pads I need then will this combination work?

Discs - Are the OEM? I'd like to keep it as close to OEM as possible. http://cougarstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7_4&products_id=40

    Pads - http://cougarstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7_5&products_id=44

  13. Best to remove the wheel, inspect the discs and pads, the grinding noise could well be the pads worn down to the metal and eating into the discs... :)

How easy are they to replace on the zed? And what's the cost of a pair of rear pads?

Few options for pads and discs here under Non Brembo - http://cougarstore.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_7 :)

Cheers for the link, I'll take a look now. Any recommendations?

Am I causing any additional damage to the car other than wearing on the disc and pad while I wait to get them sorted?

  15. Best to remove all wheels and pull the pads for inspection.

The rotor in your image is shot, I would hate to think what the condition of the inside face of the rotors are like.

    Alex. :)

Sorry for being slightly thick, but what's a rotor?

    Rotor = Disc.

    Thanks :-)

I'll get it to the garage and get them sorted.

  17. Hi all,

I picked up my 350z last weekend and I've noticed a grinding noise that seems to occur at very low speeds and its much louder when braking.

The discs seem fine on all sides apart from the rear o/s which looks very uneven. There is also alot of brake dust/rust on the alloy which I assume is from the disc?

Does anyone know what could cause this? Could it be because it hasn't been driven for 6 months?

  18. Welcome, nice little intro there, can tell you like your motors. Have fun in the zed

Thanks, I'm sure I will do 😊. I wanted to write a lot more but it's hard finding the time before work and on my lunch break.

    Welcome

I use to have a 182, cracking little car :teeth:

Looks really smart. How long did you own that for?

  19. Thanks for the kind welcome everyone. I'm currently trying to figure out how to get an aftermarket head unit working with the standard phone button on the steering wheel and trying to source a cubby to replace the JDM sat nav.
