Yeah its all the leads you will need. Just remove the bose and plug the harness in.

I had it in my z before I sold it and it did sound better than the Bose - but it also was better audio for Bluetooth on the phone compared to the standard Z Bluetooth.

The wiring harness has the steering remote so your steering wheel controls will still work.

I think the 601 is a 2012 model so not that old really

Yeah its got a CD player. Even plays DVDs has a front and rear USB. I ran the rear USB into the arm rest. Really tidy

It's pretty cool how it works, you touch the head unit and it controls the phone.

I've got a now spare Sony double din XAV-601BT head unit and incartec wiring loom & fasica to suit a facelifted 350z after selling my Z.

The head unit comes boxed with all the accessories, it's loaded with features and even can mirror your phone screen on the head unit if you have a compatible phone (Sony or Samsung i think) - the built in bluetooth is also miles ahead of what comes with the Z if you had it. The only thing it doesn't have is Navigation - but you can use the navigation on a phone mirrired on the head unit screen. It's in good condition with no marks on the screen and just a few super light scratches on the glossy black surround.

The wiring loom\fasica is the incartec one for the BOSE system, it includes the steering wheel controls adaptor for the sony head unit, i've added on an extra plug to do "busters mod" but done this slightly differently to avoid hacking up the sony head unit harness - this worked great and I got great volume out of the stock speakers.

Yeah the wheels look a bit small - budget won't stretch for anything worth putting on it for a while. Don't like cheap alloys. I prefer oem-plus so a set of 19" mk2 RS wheels would be nice.

I quite like the rear lights - that is one of my favourite bits.

Just picked up my new to my Race Red 2013 Focus ST-2,

First impressions are very good - seems very fast - a bit of turbo lag (a lot of the reviews say there isn't - that's just not true!), the sound "symposer" that pipes induction sound to the cabin sounds really good actually - only comes in > 3.5k revs so it's very quiet unless you are ragging it.

Downsides - it is slower than the Z, no doubt about it - handling isnt as good, steering lock is much shorter than it should be making even normal turns take 2 goes plus the NOISE my god i miss the noise. I knew i would but without the growl you'd think you were in a basic focus.

The focus has a few options - Style pack (lights on the sill protectors\grey alloys), tinted rear windows, reverse sensors, Sony DAB, and seems pretty well screwed together. Looks more modern than the Z, but ultimately has less luxury (no heated leather/electric seats or sat nav).

Enjoyed the 100 miles i've put on it in the last 5 hours - 100 more till it hits 10k miles so hopefully see that at the weekend!

So after having so much bother with my '57 midnight blue Z and the supplying dealer I've arranged to trade it back into the and get another car after having it for a miserly 3.5months.

 

Such a shame as I really wanted to enjoy the Z but couldn't due to it's niggles (all suspension related) - I guess I expected some hassle from the car given it's age.

 

New car: 2013 Focus ST-2, never seen myself as a Ford Owner but the supplying dealer has a few ford dealers and had a few at excellent prices, came from a hot hatch to the Z, and back I go I suppose. Perhaps when the memory of this fades I'll get a 370

 

Fingers crossed the ST has as good a community as this - whilst I mostly lurked I learnt so much in the lead up to buying the car and what to look for!

 

Time to go rip the head unit out and put the BOSE back in

 

A bad dealer experience can ruin your enjoyment of a car, and there are plenty of them about unfortunately.

I have owned an ST and thought it was great. In fact, when buying my 350Z it was a toss up between another ST and the 350Z. The Z won on looks, style, rarity and sound more than anything else. My ST was a 5 cylinder though which sounded good, not sure how the new 4 pot sounds.

I am sure you will not be disappointed with the ST though.

I think the new ST has a "Symposer" so sounds pants from the outside but inside with the windows up it's meant to sound good - not as good as the 5-pot though.

Ahh i forgot about the sound - I will miss the V6 blasting through a tunnel.

I came from a mk2 Leon cupra to the Z and while the Z is more exciting I find that i personally cover ground slower in the zed maybe due to my driving style.

I'm excited to be back in a hot hatch, however the reason for the z in the first place was to get some big n/a proper rwd power so I imagine I will have mixed feelings when I say goodbye

I like the relaxed easy always there power but I did always think the shunt off a turbo was more excitinh for 99% of on the road driving. I am always surprised at how fast I'm.going in the Z as its really not dramatic. In a hot hatch you know your pushing it!

Could it have been the suspension arm as I described here?

They couldn't reproduce it in the garage but it was obvious when driving the car over a bump.

Could be - guess it's their problem now. Car arrives tomorrow so collection Saturday or Monday - just filled the Bloody Z up as well with £70 of the good stuff!

Shame mate but thats what happens when you get it of a rotten dealer who are doing their best to avoid forking out to fix the car. Maybe speak to you again when I pass you in your ST and you rush off to buy a 370

Yeah mate - never did come to a meet. If you see a red ST go past you starting BG13 you know who it was ;-)

I think the mat in mine is coated with silicon, it's so slippery even to touch. Bit of rubber mat sorted that though!

OR you need to buy enough to jam the boot full

Cheers - it was such a stress dealing with it, it really affected my enjoyment of the car, even when it wasn't squeaking away!

Yeah they replaced "D bushes" for me claiming that would fix it, but didnt road test it, and when the noise was still there they basically said well everything else is sound so you have to expect noises from a 7 year old car. Which did get my back up a little.

So they took it back and said everything was fine (even though my MOT has an advisory for driver and passenger side suspension bushes hmmmm, but is vague in that it doesn't say which) - they couldn't reproduce the noise (however when I took the car out the garage it made it immediately) and the odometer basically hadn't moved since i dropped it off. Frustrating dealing with them as they refused to re-check the banana arm bush\ball joint even on my suggestion.

So I basically left with the car and filed a complaint with their head office, was offered either to take it to an independent Nissan dealer (a bit out the way) OR I could trade it in against a car in their stock, I chose the latter, as they are basically giving me back what I paid for the car, less a small amount - i did consider rejecting to get 100% back, but the discount I got off the ST makes up the difference. And the time\stress element on this motor has taken its toll. I'm one of those people that handles stress about cars\houses really poorly.

Unfortunately\Fortunately I've got a warranty on the car (only had it just under 3 months) - it won't be going back to them once that expires - it'll be off to infiniti. But yeah Macklin Nissan in Darnley are a High Performance Centre, they have a certified Master Nissan Mechanic - who seems good but I keep getting other mechanics and then have to hassle the garage until Ian (the master mechanic) takes a look and finds something. *sigh*

Don't think the car has been lowered - the drop links were replaced 2 months ago to try and combat a banging noise.

Reckon i've got a bit of a problem with my Z - In the morning when i set off the suspension makes a creak\sqeaky noise when going over the slightest of bumps - that seems to settle down after a mile or so until I can't hear it in the cabin - however after that any speed bump i go over makes a LOUD creak - makes the car sound like an old banger.

The car is in the garage just now (A Glasgow Nissan high performance centre - the place I bought the thing from a couple of months ago - who have been incredibly frustrating to deal with over warranty issues - ranging from blaming me for damage to a lower suspension arm bush & damaged engine undertray after owning the car for 2 weeks and taking a month of coming and going to find a worn "top mount" that was banging away) - as per usual they are claiming there is no issue (except admitting they did hear a slight noise as well - numpties).

A quick google suggests banana arm bushes, and the US 350z forum suggests perhaps an engine mount - but reading around suggests the banana arm bushes are a common failure.

Any suggestions from you guys? I've uploaded a video to youtube with the noise -

I recently fitted a sony xav-601bt in my Z, not wanting to massacre the sony wiring harness, but still wanting to do busters mod to get decent volume from the stock bose i went to maplin and bought the following:

Basically you chop this harness in half (well you cut the male end with the pins off), then you follow busters mod and chop the RCA connectors off the Nissan > ISO harness and connect the two - this replaces the RCA pins with a standard ISO speaker block which can then be plugged into the head unit itselfs harness. Quite straight forward and means the head unit can be sold with the harness in-tact if you decide to upgrade.

Hope this makes sense\helps someone - no pics as it was a last minute idea I had while the car was in bits!

I've also got an XAV-601BT, pretty good for the money - I ran the rear USB out of the head unit into the arm rest and up through the hole where the bluetooth unit was (removed).

Good head unit - the mirrorlink (if you have the right phone) is pretty good for getting cheap nav.

Just recently switched to a '57 Night Blue 350z GT with the Frost Leather Interior. Job change (now have to get the train every day) mean I could sell my much loved mk2 Seat Leon Cupra and get something a bit more daft to enjoy at the weekend (and 2 mile commute to the station!).

I'm up in Glasgow (South Lanarkshire actually) and don't see too many zeds around although I've always wanted one from when I first saw them 10 years ago and I always buy one in Forza ;-).

Can't say I'm completely loving it at the moment as i'm having some "teething" issues with knocking suspension that the dealer I bought from is struggling to fix (been in 5 times in the 3 weeks but thankfully hasn't cost me a penny - new drop links, and lower arm on passenger side so far).

First on the cards for it is some new rear boots as the dealer being as helpful as always installed 2 brand new "Mazzini" ditch-finder rear tyres that seem to have almost nearly no traction which has led to becoming familiar with a powerful RWD cars traction control once or twice.

Then I've got a Sony XAV-601BT to get installed once I get the car sorted, and once I get some decent weather it'll be out with the machine polisher to get rid of all the swirl marks and treat the paint to some love!

Will get some pics on once it's been detailed!
